MINUTES HISTORIC PRESERVATION COMMISSION MEETING May 20, 2015 8:30 a.m. 1. ROLL CALL Members Present: John Sykes, Chairman; Susannah Bing, Vice Chairman; Whitney Cooper; Uyuho Eduok; William Fontenot; Ana Forbes; Bill Huey Staff: Frank Duke, Planning Director; Glenn Hanna, Current Planning Manager; Collin Magee, UDC and Historic Preservation Coordinator; Paolo Messina, Assistant Parish Attorney 2. APPROVAL OF THE MINUTES (April 22, 2015) Motion to approve: Fontenot, Bing second. Motion carried, 7‐0. th
3. HPC‐5‐15 (840 North 7 Street) This application was submitted for the construction of an addition to the east (rear) side of the house; installation of a new metal roof on the house; and replacement of the existing wood windows on the north and south sides of the house with vinyl‐clad windows. STAFF RECOMMENDATION: Approval, provided that the vinyl‐clad windows are colored to closely resemble the original windows. Applicant Terry Adams spoke in favor of the application. Motion to approve: Huey, Forbes second. Motion carried, 7‐0. 4. STAFF REPORTS AND UPDATES Mr. Magee informed the Commission of the submittal of staff level application HPC‐6‐15 (725 Spanish Town Road) for the completion of a wrought iron fence in the front yard. Mr. Magee noted that work is continuing on the draft ordinance and that the Commission will receive a revised version in advance of the June 17 meeting. 5. OTHER BUSINESS Vice‐Chairman Bing informed the Commission of a presentation she gave on May 6 to a committee reviewing board and commission qualifications for the Metro Council. Mr. Huey noted the continuing discussion of plans for the celebration of the Baton Rouge Bicentennial in 2017. Chairman Sykes noted that on June 17, the East Baton Rouge Parish Library will present a history of the Goodwood Plantation at the Goodwood Library. 6.
