Summary of Site and Services
Carewest Signal Pointe opened its doors to the Calgary community in 2000 and has since grown to offer programs and
services for 54 long-term care residents. Carewest Signal Pointe offers the following:
Secured Dementia Care
For cognitively complex residents,
whose care needs cannot be met in a
supportive living environment and who
require professional nursing care in a
secure environment.

Building Amenities
Amenities at Signal Pointe include a
gift shop, manicured gardens with
winding pathways, five adjoining
bungalows in a secure environment
designed to encourage independence
and social interaction, library and
smoking room.
Meal Service
Carewest Food Services strives to
create and serve healthy, nutritious
meals with friendly service in a
relaxed environment. Most special
dietary requirements can be met
and we welcome feedback from
residents and families.
Dementia Day Program
Available to older adults who live in
the community and have Alzheimer’s
disease or other dementias affecting
their ability to socialize and interact
in community activities
Momentum
The Momentum Real-Time Location
System, allows for increased safety
and a more efficient response to incidents. Residents can request assistance from anywhere in the building
and staff can find residents, and each
other, quickly.
Therapy Services
Activities can be organized on a
regular basis to enhance well‐being
and respond to physical, emotional,
intellectual, spiritual, cultural and
sensory needs.
Carewest Signal Pointe was designed in partnership with Dr. Uriel Cohen, former Director, Institute on Aging and Environment School of
Architecture, University of Wisconsin, under the seven principles of housing design for people with dementia.
