The Saint Louis Brewery, LLC Position: Reports to: Revision Date: Status: Industrial Maintenance Technician Maintenance Manager March 9, 2015 Non-Exempt Position Summary: The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining brewery facilities and equipment. This position will also work closely with the Maintenance Manager and the brewery management team to ensure that the production facility is operating in a safe and efficient manner. This position will primarily be required to work second shift but must have open availability to work any shift or day of the week and be willing to be on call as needed. Qualifications include a minimum two years’ related experience. An associate’s degree in a related field and experience working in a brewery or production facility is preferred. Must also have excellent time management and trouble shooting skills and have a strong commitment to safety and quality at all times. Primary Responsibilities: Diagnoses any malfunctioning production equipment Communicates information about equipment malfunctions with team to develop and implement a corrective action plan Remove, repair, replace defective parts, valves, machines and equipment and/or install new or repaired parts or valves Completes preventive maintenance, work orders and safety projects as assigned Observes functionality of all installed equipment and systems to detect any hazards Safely drills and cuts holes using tools such as power drill, knockouts, jigsaws and other cutting tools Maintains familiarity of lubricant reference manuals for selection of the correct types and grades of oil and lubricants used in the brewery Maintains pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment Operates forklift and scissor lift Monitor and order parts or supplies to ensure adequate inventory; research information and draw plans and create or initiate purchase order for parts Maintains working knowledge of brewing/process equipment including: electrical controls, process instrumentation, and Programmable Logical Controllers. Supports implementation and compliance of Good Manufacturing Practices, including 5S standardization for all tools and spare parts storage. Assists Maintenance Manager to recognize, develop, and implement opportunities for cost and risk reduction Complies with all safety, quality, environmental and company policies and regulations Maintains clean, safe, and orderly work areas Opens and/or closes the plant as needed, depending on shift, including checking doors and activating alarms Keeps Maintenance Manager informed and updated on status of all projects and issues Works effectively with the Maintenance Manager to ensure all Maintenance needs are met in a timely manner Works shifts to align with business needs Communicates effectively with all departments of the company Attends and participates in department meetings Attend and work at activities and festivals featuring Schlafly products as needed Physical/Visual Activities or Demands: Physical/visual activities or demands that are commonly associated with the performance of the functions of the job. Moderate physical demands requiring frequent manual lifting/moving of materials weighing 5-25 pounds and occasional lifting/moving materials weighing 25-60 lbs. and over 60 lbs. Most lifting and moving is done manually; a hand truck is used frequently for heaviest work. Work requires frequent standing and walking, frequent bending, reaching and occasional kneeling, squatting and uncomfortable positions. Flow of work and duties require normal mental and visual attention; visual requirements include depth perception, color vision, and clarity of vision for distant (20 feet or more) and near (less than 20 inches) work. Environmental/Atmospheric Conditions: Environmental and atmospheric commonly associated with the performance of the functions of the job. conditions Manufacturing environment where exposure to moisture, heat, electrical current, refrigerated areas, noise and moving machinery are frequent during the day. Position Qualification Requirements Education: High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate). Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school in related field is preferred. Experience: Two or more years’ experience of related experience. Experience working in a production facility, brewery, or winery is preferred. Skills and Abilities which are representative but not all inclusive of those commonly associated with this position; Work with a high degree of autonomy with minimal supervision to support production priorities Skills applicable to general maintenance functions. This skill set should include mechanical, electrical, plumbing, welding, pneumatics, pipefitting, and boiler/steam Proficient in the fundamentals of PLC programming and working with blueprints, schematics, sketches, and other forms of equipment documentation. Ability to trouble shoot and problem solve effectively Ability to accurately follow SOP’s Excellent time management skills Proficient computer skills- including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.) as well as the aptitude to learn Braumat and SAP. Sound judgment and decision making ability Advanced knowledge of electrical systems Knowledge of OSHA requirements and safe work operations, policies and procedures Good communication and teamwork skills (written and verbal) Mechanical aptitude Familiarity with instrumentation, 5S , lean manufacturing and Siemens Controls Basic understanding of pneumatics and hydraulic systems.
