Eligibility: Must have competed at the UIL Academic State Meet any year of their high school
career (CX debaters must have advanced to the second day of competition) OR must be a
TSSEC Outstanding Soloist OR must be a state finalist in the Barbara Jordan Historical Essay
Competition or the Latino History Essay Competition; Must have been accepted to an
accredited college or university in the state of Texas; Must enroll full-time in college and
maintain a 2.5 college GPA (some scholarships require higher GPAs); Must have taken either
the SAT or the ACT; Must be graduating from high school during the current year

o An official transcript from your high school which lists your SAT and ACT scores.
o A letter of recommendation from one of the following school administrators:
superintendent, principal, assistant principal, UIL coach, or counselor.

AREA GO TEXAN
72 four-year, $18,000 college scholarships are presented to outstanding eligible students
representing the counties participating in the Show's Area Go Texan program. This includes an
additional 10 awards to be given at large to students within the 62 counties represented in the
Area Go Texan Scholarship Program.

70 four-year at $18,000 each, statewide - Eligibility: Current member of Texas 4-H in good
standing ; Must apply in the spring of senior year; Must graduate from a Texas public high
school or home school in the school year in which applying for Show scholarships; Must be in
top one-fourth of graduating class; Test scores must meet minimum of 1350 SAT or 19 on the
ACT; Must be a resident of the state of Texas and a citizen of the United States of America;
Must have applied to and plan to attend a not-for-profit Texas college or university accredited
by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges; Cannot have
applied for a scholarship through Texas FFA or FCCLA; Selected applicants also are interviewed
in person.

SCHOOL ART
15 four-year, $18,000 college scholarships - Eligibility: To be eligible to apply for this
scholarship, an applicant must meet criteria of citizenship, character, residence, academic
standing, college/university enrollment plans, and economic need, in addition to special
eligibility requirements based on the applicant's participation in the School Art Program. High
school seniors from participating public high schools whose artwork was judged by School Art
Committee judges in a participating school district show or those high school seniors from
participating public high schools who are selected to compete in the Quick Draw competition
are eligible to receive Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo School Art Program Scholarship
applications.

FCCLA
10 four-year at $18,000 each, statewide - Eligibility: Current member of FCCLA in good
standing; Must apply in the fall of senior year; Must graduate from a public Texas high school
in school year in which applying for Show scholarships; Must be in top one-fourth of graduating
class; Test scores must meet minimum of 1350 SAT or 19 ACT; Must be a resident of the state
of Texas and a citizen of the United States of America; Must have applied to and plan to attend
a Texas college or university for which applicant meets entrance requirements; Cannot have
applied for a scholarship through Texas 4-H or FFA.
Selected applicants also are interviewed in person.

RUTH HILDEBRAND
One four-year, $18,000 scholarship - Eligibility: Applicants must be Junior Market Lamb Show
exhibitors participating in the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo; applicants must be citizens
of the United States, of good character and meet all requirements as specified in the
application, including their attending a Texas public high school, meeting academic and
standardized test score minimums; applicants must plan to attend a college or university
within the state of Texas; applicants are evaluated on the basis of academics,
leadership/community involvement and financial need.

MILITARY
Five four-year at $18,000 each - Eligibility: To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, an
applicant must be a dependent of a service member in active duty, reserve, honorably
discharged veteran or the National Guard. Applicant must also meet criteria of citizenship,
residence, academic standing, college/university enrollment plans, demonstration of
leadership, character and economic need. Eligible applicants must live in the eight surrounding
Houston Metropolitan counties or the 62 participating Area Go Texan counties.

TECHNICAL
10 two-year at $8,000 each, statewide - Requirement: Students must pursue an associate's
degree in an approved technical field. Five scholarships will be given priority to student’s who
participated in the Show's Agricultural Mechanics Project Show or the Tractor Technician
Contest Finals. Eligibility: Participate in an interview process; have made formal application to
enroll with intent to attend a not-for-profit Texas college or university accredited by the
Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges and participate in a
curriculum leading to an associate's degree; applicant may not receive more than $40,000 in
other financial aid, excluding the Show scholarship
