Clemence, the second youngest of 13 children, was born on August 10,
1931, to John Sr. and Anna (nee Meier) Weiman at Bruno. He grew up on
the family farm five miles north of Bruno and attended Hoffman School. As
a young child, Clemence worked on the farm with his other family members.
Clem was a very hard worker. Along with farming his land, he worked jobs
with the CN, the Ursuline Academy, Rands Construction, Clayworks, Ray
Bender’s Painting, and at the Dana Radar Base, where he was employed as
a labourer, painter and then Painter Foreman for 21 years, until the day it
closed. In September of 1959, Clemence married Mary Eichinger and they
lived in Bruno where they raised their six children. Over the years, Clem
enjoyed farming, fishing, ski-dooing, going for drives in the countryside, going for coffee with his friends, watching sporting events in the community
and, especially, attending any sport or activity that his grandchildren were
involved in. He loved visiting family and loved it even more when family visited him. Clem loved Fords and if you didn’t have a Ford he took every opportunity to tease you about needing a boost. In the spring and summer he
could always be found in his garden growing delicious vegetables, most of
which he gave away to whoever wanted them. Clem was a painting expert
and painted the homes of so many people, including those of his children,
some of which he painted over and over again. He also taught his family
all his painting tricks of the trade so, in recent years, he was the supervisor to all his workers. Clem loved to have a good laugh, and was always
playing jokes and sharing stories and memories from the past and present.
Clemence will be lovingly remembered by his six children, ten grandchildren,
one great-grandchild (and one on the way): BRENDAN (Sandy) Weiman
- Ashley, Sydney and Brett; RANDY (Eunju Lee) Weiman - Chaeyong;
RHONDA Basset - Tammy, Adam (Tessa) and daughter Rhonnie, and
Mikayla; ARLENE (Trent) Knoblauch - Tara, Jade and Tyrel; KATHLEEN
Weiman; and SHELLEY (Don Unrau) Weiman. He is also survived by the
mother of his children, Mary; sisters-in-law: Alvena, Florence, Corinne,
Margie, Hilda Gutnacht, and Erna Glaser; and by numerous nieces and nephews. Clemence was predeceased by his parents, John Sr. and Anna (nee
Meier) Weiman; brothers and sisters: John Jr., Joseph, Pauline Strasser,
Leo, Mary (Sand) O’Connell, Herman, Tony, Lawrence, Wilfred, Elmer, Herbert Glaser, and two siblings in infancy; and by his son-in-law Paul Basset.
