NICK found inspiration for his new
book of poetry in lots of places—from
Shel Silverstein to his parents. Ask your
students to write a poem about what
inspires them to open a world of possible.
GRAND PRIZE:

NICK will host a Poetry Party at the winning
school. The party will feature the contest
winner, fellow students, faculty, and Nick
performing their original poetry. Nick will
bring along a crew to capture the event
on video, which will be given to the school
library as the ultimate keepsake. The school
visit will happen between May 1 and 8, 2015.
Ten Runners-Up will receive ten books of
their choice from Scholastic Reading Club.
How To Enter
✭A
sk your students to write a poem about something
that inspires them to explore new possibilities.
✭ P oems can be in any form—haiku, rhyming verse,
or free verse.
✭ Be sure students include their name, grade level,
teacher’s name, and school name, address, and
phone number on their entry.
Submission Due Date:

All students who are U.S. residents and currently attending a U.S. school in grades 2–8 are eligible to enter except employees, and immediate family members, of Scholastic Book
Clubs or its parent company. Winners will be selected based on creativity, structure, and execution. All submissions become the property of Scholastic Inc. One (1) Grand-Prize
Winner will be chosen (approximate retail value: $3,000.00). Ten (10) Runners-Up will be chosen (approximate retail value: $50.00).
