Hello SCORAngels from all over the world!
My name is Anna Rewekant and as a coordinator of SCORA X-change in Poland
I would like to invite you to participate in an exchange organized in Poland.
This year SCORA X-change will be carried out in 4 cities in Poland
( four weeks of SCORA X-change!) First week will be focus more on sightseeing
and team building our group of lovely SCORAngels ( some kind of preSCORA Xchange). Classes and social programme may vary a bit. Students will be
accommodated in students’ dormitories. Cost is 290 € (includes
accommodation, one meal per a day, social programme, transport from town
to town)

Kraków is the second largest and one of the oldest cities in Poland. Situated on the Vistula
River. The city has traditionally been one of the leading centres of Polish academic, cultural,
and artistic life and is one of Poland's most important economic hubs. Until XVI century it
was the capital of Poland.
Kraków’s centre can be divided into two main sections – the Old Town and Kazimierz (the
former Jewish Quarter), with Wawel Royal Castle between them. In the city center there is
not only a lot of monuments and museums but also you can find there over 1000 clubs,
pubs, caffees and restaurants. So your time in Kraków you will spend wandering in and out
of the cobbled streets, courtyards, cafes, museums and evenings spend In clubs and shot
bars of the Old Town and Kazimierz.
There are also a lot of attractions outside of the city: the Wieliczka salt mine, the Tatra Mountains
100 km to the south, the well-preserved former Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz-Birkenau and
Ojcowski National Park which includes the Renaissance Castle at Pieskowa Skała.

Warsaw, nurturing over 400 years of pride as a capital, is Poland’s largest city and an economic,
political, and cultural centre. It is a bustling metropolis and features an unforgettable history. The city
was destroyed in World War II, but now is blooming again – it is an outstanding example of a neartotal reconstruction of a span of history covering the 13th to the 20th century.
Warsaw is known as the city of palaces, royal gardens and… Frederic Chopin – the most famous
Polish composer. His memorial in Łazienki Park is the place, where recitals of Chopin’s music are held
every Sunday afternoon from May to September.
Moreover, this year is taking place 17th edition of very prestigious The International Fryderyk Chopin
Piano Competition (it is every 5 years, always in Warsaw).
The most visited part of the city is the Old Town – there is located a beautiful Old Town Square with
the symbol of Warsaw – the Mermaid and also the Royal Castle, which was built in the 14th century
and functionated as an official residence of the Polish monarchs – now, it is a museum diplaying
furniture, famous paintings and other great works of art.
There is far more to see in Warsaw than the historical area. The city’s skyline is dominated by the
splendidly over the top Palace of Culture and Science with Congress Hall downstairs – the view from
the top is breathtaking. For a glimpe of Warsaw’s Imperial beauty head to Wilanów Palace – dubbed
„The Polish Versailles“.
You can never be bored in this city – with around 30 theaters, 60 cinemas, various galleries and clubs,
Warsaw is undoubtedly a great place for entertainment. Here you can also find many festivals as
diverse as Chopin, Jewish Culture and the Warsaw International Film Festival.

Week in Warsaw will be focused on following topics: cervical cancer , HIV prevention and AIDS
treatment in Poland , endocrine problems of adolescents, breast cancer

Poznań is a city with a history that goes back more than a thousand years. It was here that
the first Polish rulers have settled. It is among the largest Polish centers of trade, industry,
education, sports, tourism and culture. Poznań is a capital of the Wielkopolska region, a city
with the population of nearly 600 thousand inhabitants, which makes it Poland’s fifth largest
city in terms of population.
Splendid monuments of art and architecture, representing a wide variety of styles – from the
Roman style to Secession illustrate rich history of the city. The most valuable ones, including
the 16th century renaissance Town Hall in the Old Market Square, are concentrated in three
areas: the island of Ostrów Tumski (Cathedral Island), the Old Town and the City Centre.
Poznań is a major culture centre. Among the outstanding culture events staged here are the
Malta International Theatre Festival and The Henryk Wieniawski Violin Competition. Poznań
is home to the world famous boys' and men's male voice choir Poznań Nightingales and the
Polish Dance Theatre Poznań Ballet, the only one of its kind in Poland.
Poznań is above the ordinary – full of charming places, surprising with its atmosphere, very
dynamic and welcoming at the same time. This city does have its own character, and so do
its citizens.

Łódź, academic and cultural center, the central Polish city associated with the textile
industry and film.Located in Lodz universities including University of Medical Sciences,
Technical University of Lodz, Lodz University, Academy of Fine Arts, the National Film School,
The Academy of Music is the place to study about 100 thousand scholars from across the
Polish.
In the city are also a number of institutions scientific – research, among other things, Centre
of Molecular and Macromolecular or the Institute of Medical Biology, Polish Academy of
Sciences.
Supported by the host city and the university authorities, students have the opportunity not
only to acquire knowledge in selected directions, but also the continuous further training
through
numerous
training
and
internships.
Our guests from outside the Polish and other Polish universities have the opportunity to host
not only recently put into use at the Medical University Educational Centre, but we also want
to invite young scientists to learn about the history of Lodz and places to visit in the
organization of time between practice at our Departments.
What
to
do
in
Lodz?
Being in Lodz, it is necessary to take a stroll down the street Piotrkowska. It is a meeting
place for the local community. Although modern Manufactory displaces watching
Piotrkowska, this street-adjacent beer gardens, and the surrounding discos which still are
very popular. In my humble opinion, the time Piotrkowska as a place for extravagant
purchases, has long since passed. Now this place only party. A few shops and services is
becoming
less
and
less.
It's not bad ... and so it is also in this case. For some time, shops and services move into the
Gallery of Lodz - under the slogan "We extend Piotrowska," and also have appeared recently
in a powerful Manufaktura. But Manufactory is not just a shopping center, and at the same
time a very important place for social and cultural map of the city. Besides really many
shops, restaurants find there a lot of entertainment: bowling, a multi-cinema, climbing wall.
In Łódź there are also many other places to visit, where we will definitely go with you!
