Country Club Plaza

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (March 17, 2015) – Highwoods Properties is pleased to announce a new
addition to Kansas City and the Country Club Plaza, vineyard vines. This favorite all-American
lifestyle retailer will open its doors on the Country Club Plaza in June at 4700 Broadway.
“vineyard vines is a one-of-a-kind brand that is loved by people of all ages,” said Glenn
Stephenson, Highwoods Properties vice president and division manager. “We are thrilled to
have them aboard exclusively on the Country Club Plaza. It’s the perfect addition to the already
exciting collection of stores and restaurants we have here.”
Founded in 1998 on Martha’s Vineyard by brothers Shep and Ian Murray, vineyard vines has
made a name for itself in the retail industry selling preppy, energetic and fun clothing and
accessories for men, women and children. The vineyard vines polo shirt, emblazoned with the
pink whale logo, is an icon nationwide. vineyard vines has more than 50 stores from the shores
of Connecticut to the beaches of California. This will be the company’s first store in Kansas City.
“We are excited to share our passion and the vineyard vines brand with Kansas City,” said Shep
Murray, vineyard vines CEO and co-founder. “The Country Club Plaza is a special destination,
and we know that we have found our Kansas City home.”
The story of vineyard vines is one of classic American enterprise and hard work. In 1998, the
Murray brothers decided the desk life was not for them, left their jobs in New York and started
selling ties on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts. Since then, the company has grown from
men’s ties to a multimillion-dollar corporation. With the motto “Every day should feel this good,”
vineyard vines encourages customers to live each day with the same energy and passion that
its founders do.
The vineyard vines store will occupy 3,825 square feet of retail space on the corner of 47th and
Broadway.
