Overview
The Vibe Scout is a downhole tool designed to improve drilling efficiencies by overcoming common drilling
dysfunctions associated with high torque and drag, poor weight transfer, stick-slip and poor tool face control.
The Vibe Scout generates high frequency pressure pulses as a means of inducing additional energy to the drill
string, whereby hydraulic pressure pulses are used to energize the drill string and BHA. A Shock Sub can be used to
maximize performance by transferring the pressure pulses into axial forces. The forces generated from the Shock
Sub create an axial displacement of the drill string / BHA which is extremely effective in improving weight transfer
by reducing the frictional forces between the drill string and well bore.
The reliable and robust design does not rely on contacting surfaces, therefore ensuring integrity of all components
during operation, while also offering the added benefit of being rated for high temperature applications.
Pre-Run Surface Test
Prior to running in hole, the Vibe Scout can be surface tested to ensure full functionality downhole by following the
steps listed below:





Make up Vibe Scout and Shock Sub into BHA or drill string as required, ensuring the Shock Sub is
positioned above the Vibe Scout.
Set the Vibe Scout in the slips.
Bring up the pumps to the operating flow rate*.
Visually check the Shock Sub to confirm a small expansion and contraction of the mandrel at high
frequency.
Upon surface test, continue to RIH to planned depth and drill ahead at the desired flow rate.
*Note: Full operational flow rate may not be required as successful operation will be evident at lower flow
rates.
