Dear Art and Film Enthusiasts,
For the fourth year in a row, the Tel Aviv Museum of Art is hosting
EPOS the International Art Film Festival, and enjoying the collaboration that brings a contemporary festival of art and culture films to
our screens.
Micky Laron and Gidi Avivi, the festival directors, work tirelessly
throughout the year with a devoted staff to find the most current and
important films about art and artists. They introduce audiences not
just to the art itself, but to the entire creative process and the people
working behind the scenes as well.
Alongside the various films, directors, producers and other creators
who take part in workshops or lectures add a personal touch to
the festival.
As in previous years, this year’s line-up incorporates fresh new films
from Israel and fascinating, innovative works from around the globe –
an approach that reflects the worldview and spirit of the museum.

Dear Culture and Film Lovers,
EPOS, the International Art Film Festival is getting underway for its
fourth year. Each year, we test the festival’s boundaries to continue our
tradition and bring to Israel the best films about diverse arts and artists
from around the world, while maintaining the event’s intimate nature.
Since its inception, EPOS has celebrated the connection between
cinema and various arts. This year, the festival focuses on the
connection between film and music, and for the opening film we chose
Yossi Banai – The Farewell Album, the film that received a grant
announced at last year’s the closing ceremony. This reflects the festival’s
mission of promoting the cinematic documentation of culture in Israel.
We send warm thanks to the film’s creators and producers.
We would also like to thank everyone who assisted and contributed
to EPOS: the films’ creators, Tel Aviv Museum of Art and its director,
Suzanne Landau, the Association for the Advancement of Art and
Culture, which produces the festival and, of course, all the employees
and volunteers who devote weeks and months to ensuring EPOS’
continuing success.

Erwin Wurm is best known for his “One Minute
Sculptures” – artworks that he’s been creating
since the late 1980s, in which he or his models
interact with everyday objects in unusual ways.
He may stuff pencils up his nose, or into his ears
but Wurm is a serious artist who’s constantly
pushing the envelope.
The film follows him as he travels to international
exhibitions and pulls new surprises from up his
sleeve. At first it seems like his aim is simply to
entertain – what else could you think about a
construction that looks like a house from the
outside, but is too narrow for people inside?
Wurm admits, “I will often use humor to seduce
people, to get them to move closer, but it’s
never very nice when they look closer.”

Alina Szapocznikow was one of the most
important Polish plastic artists of the 20th
century. Born in 1926, the Jewish artist suffered
from tuberculosis as a child and the same
disease killed her father when she was 12. She
spent time in ghettos and concentration camps
during the war, but rarely spoke about that
afterward. The human body and its deterioration
played a big part in her work as a sculptor.
Archival photos reveal a delicate woman who
created large and powerful sculptures with her
own two hands.
She wasn’t part of any feminist movement but
her independence sets an example for women –
and artists – even today. Szapocznikow died
of cancer at age 47, so friends such as director
Andrzej Wajda and others tell her story here.

This film amusingly reconstructs a story that
rattled the art world in the 1980s. Rumors
circulated in the Italian city Livorno, proud
home to the artist Modigliani, that he
dumped sculptures into a local river.
Witnessing the hysteria that these rumors
created, three adolescents decided to pull a
prank and create – with some skill – a sculpture
of a “Modigliani head.” They tossed it in the
river, and researchers discovered a sculpture
there the next day. Only it’s not the same one.
Does this mean an authentic Modigliani was
found? Not necessarily.
This Italian story is full of humor, but still
manages to delve into weighty issues about art,
money, authenticity and fabrication.

Even those who haven’t delved into
Gertrude Stein’s prolific writings may have
been introduced to her, most recently in
Woody Allen’s film “Midnight in Paris.” This
documentary, which focuses on Stein, also
sheds light on her family – a family that
pushed artistic boundaries and introduced
the world to Picasso, Matisse and other
leading artists.
Gertrude and her two brothers, Leo and
Michael, all collected art, but she was
undoubtedly the true avant-garde visionary
of the three. Stein’s enigmatic partner, Alice B.
Toklas, also gets her fair share of attention in
this film, which leaves you wondering if there’s
a gene for innovation.

It seems like even those who’ve heard the
name Nam June Paik aren’t always aware of his
groundbreaking contribution to the art world.
His work preceded its time and ushered in the
era of video art. Born in Seoul in 1932, Paik played
piano as a child, then studied at university in
Tokyo. He later moved to Munich where he met
composers Karlheinz Stockhausen and John
Cage and artist Joseph Beuys. There developed
an interest in conceptual art that combined his
musical background with modern technological
developments (mainly TV). That’s when he
started on his path to becoming one of the most
cutting-edge and wild artists of the 20th century.
As the film shows, he never rested for a minute.
Armed with his fierce intellect, he worked to
push the envelope up until his death in 2006.

Liu Xiao-Dong, one of China’s most successful
artists, returns to his hometown of Jincheng
after having left thirty years earlier. Liu moved
to Beijing to live and study, and after making a
name for himself, he goes home to pursue one
of his dreams – painting his childhood friends
who stayed in the village. As he goes from one
to the next, painting lively portraits, viewers
also get to know these “characters.” Their
shared past brings them closer and allows Liu
to view them with great empathy.
Liu’s personal journey also becomes an attempt
to preserve memories of his childhood against
an increasingly urban and industrialized China.

Gregory Crewdson stages his photographs.
He doesn’t just position people amid perfect
scenery and lighting – he creates an entire
world in large-scale, elaborate scenes that
require the same effort as, say, producing
an indie film. “Brief Encounters” follows the
photographer at work on a series that took
about a decade to create. It also introduces us
to a captivating personality: Crewdson talks
about his psychologist father as he travels
through small-town America looking for the
perfect locations for his art. In one photograph,
a detached mother watches her baby sleep
alone in the middle of a bed; in another, a
woman sits on a sidewalk edge, watching the
sunset. This film peeks into the feverish mind
of one of the most important contemporary
American photographers.

Amy Winehouse was already a star when she
agreed to perform in the southwestern Irish
town of Dingle. Not as famous as when she
died, but a household name – like the many
musicians who performed before her at the
small church where this concert was filmed.
She sang her heart out, accompanied by her
guitarist and bassist, in front of 85 people.
This film features Amy Winehouse in an
intimate gig and clips of the soulful singer
talking about her musical influences (Sarah
Vaughan and others). In this hole in the wall at
the edge of the world, all the noise disappears
and all that’s left is Amy Winehouse, the artist.
Even for diehard fans that think they know the
late singer, this one-off performance leaves a

Yves Montand, as you’ve never seen him before.
Many hours of home movie footage helped
craft this film, which presents Montand in
glorious splendor – as the handsome singer,
dancer and womanizer he was. Born in Italy in
1921, his family moved to France with the rise of
fascism; he grew up in Marseilles and in 1944
Edith Piaf discovered him.
The film focuses on the music and great voice
of this champion of French chanson.
Yet it also looks at more human moments and
at the women who shaped Montand, most
notably Simone Signoret. She watched him cheat
(with Marilyn Monroe, among others) but stood
by him until her death in 1985. These are just
a few of the highlights from this film, whose
soundtrack stays in your head long after the
credits have rolled.

In 1967, the day after Christmas, practically all of Britain sat opposite the
television, waiting for the BBC to air its holiday special. No one wanted to miss
it – after all, it was the Fab Four, the biggest band in England at the time.
And then it aired. It was a bizarre ride that was entertaining if incoherent. The
only constant in it was the bus that took a strange group of people, led by Ringo
and his chubby aunt, from place to place. The nation watched, and the next day
a storm of criticism was unleashed – and continued for years.
Forty-five years later, the BBC revisited the film and interviewed Paul McCartney,
Ringo Starr and other cultural critics to find out what it meant to convey. The
original film and the BBC documentary that provides context for the Mystery
Tour are both presented here. The result: a mix of history and pure joy.

Marcel Cellier traveled across Eastern Europe
when it was still sealed behind the Iron Curtain,
and documented the region’s music. This Swiss
music-lover brought sounds to the West that
captivated in Europe and elsewhere in the world.
He introduced audiences to the Romanian pan
flute player Gheorghe Zamfir and the legendary
Bulgarian women’s choir Le Mystère des
Voix Bulgares.
The film follows Cerrier and his wife, Catherine,
as they re-create their journey and revisit the
musicians they met along the way.
Not all of them became famous, but all of
them play beautifully. The complexity and
professionalism of their playing only highlights
the simplicity and poverty of the places that
gave birth to these sounds.

Chile’s official entry for the 2012 Oscars tells the
story of Violeta Parra. Born in 1917, Parra went
from an impoverished childhood to famed poet,
musician and folklorist. In 1962, she gave an
interview on Argentinean television – and her
direct, honest answers serve as the basis for
this film about her intense life. She was not an
easygoing person; she endured difficult loves
and complex relationships with many around
her. Yet despite this (or perhaps because of it),
she composed powerful songs made even more
potent by her beautiful voice.
Her most famous song, “Gracias a la Vida”
(“Thanks to Life”) was written shortly before
her suicide at age 50. The film carefully traces
her path toward death and succeeds thanks
in large part to a riveting performance by
Francisca Gavilán.

singer Yossi Banai, is about a saying goodbye. It
reconstructs Banai’s last goodbye through the
songs he wrote and brings together artists who
accompanied Banai through his final months.

actually part of his plan for bidding the world
adieu. This is a film about one of the greats
of Israeli culture, as seen through the eyes of

This is the amazing, inspirational story of Rosetta
Sharpe. Born in 1915 in Cotton Plant, Arkansas,
near the Mississippi River, Sharpe began her
musical career as a child, singing gospel in the
church. At age 23 she left the church and packed
her bags for New York. Over the next 30 years,
her unique voice and virtuosic guitar-playing
skills transformed her into a great influence on
the development of rock & roll. As one of the
film’s interview subjects explains, Sharpe had
an enormous impact on Chuck Berry, one of the
pioneers of rock & roll. And yet, she remains
overlooked. This film does her justice. And it also
does justice to the audience by exposing how
biased narratives often influence history. When
you see Sharpe playing the electric guitar, her
energy, originality and daring make it clear she
was there before other greats.

This is the life story of Patty Schemel, the
drummer of Courtney Love’s groundbreaking
rock band Hole. Schemel, a talented, energetic
musician lived the glory days of the grunge
scene and lost almost everything (including
her life) to drugs and alcohol. She talks openly
about her addiction and, as a gay woman,
also about the important women in her life.
Schemel pulled it together and has been clean
for several years – and she’s even opened a
small business as a dog caretaker and trainer.
This touching story offers a glimpse at life
amid the heyday of Nirvana and Hole and their
leading troubled couple, Kurt Cobain and Love.
While you might want to applaud Schemel for
her music, it’s the way she pulled herself out of
the gutter that really deserves an ovation.

He wasn’t weird or aloof, he didn’t make
inaccessible high art or go on about
complicated philosophies. John Cage, who
would have been 100 were he alive today,
was one of the most original, creative and
groundbreaking musicians of the 20th century.
He questioned what music is and discovered
that it’s all around us: trees rustling in the
wind, a bicycle bell, a piano cover closing. He
influenced artists across all disciplines and
revealed to audiences what he knew about
music: That it’s everywhere, and that they
just need to learn to listen to it. This film uses
humor and a light touch to present John Cage,
the man who deeply changed the way we see
and hear the world.

On January 20, 1942, senior Nazi officials met
in a villa in the Berlin suburb of Wannsee,
where they decided on implementing the “Final
Solution”. On the same date in 2009, a group
of young musicians gathered at the same
site. The musicians, Germans and Israelis, led
by the Ensemble Meitar, performed works by
contemporary Jewish and Israeli composers.
The film focuses on the great diversity of the
composers, including Arie Shapira, an avantgarde Israeli composer, Ayal Adler, Joseph
Bardanashvili and Ernest Bloch. Each brings a
different tone and perspective to the concert,
but their works combine to create something
powerful. This concert is not about revenge, its
organizers stress. At the same time, the film
doesn’t arouse a false sense of victory; instead,
it illustrates the eternal force of art.

Director Jean-François Sivadier takes viewers
behind the scenes of the Aix-en-Provence
Festival’s 2011 production of Verdi’s masterpiece
“La Traviata.” Based on Alexander Dumas’ “La
Dame aux camélias,” the protagonist of Verdi’s
world-renowned opera is Violetta (played here
by soprano Natalie Dessay). She’s Parisian
courtesan who decides to forgo a life of high
society for true love, and ends up heartbroken.
This fascinating film transports viewers to
the rehearsals and sheds light on Violetta’s
character and her motives. The exposure to the
director and performers’ creative process offers
a rare glimpse at the inner workings of such a
production. It also introduces us to talents who
succeed in injecting this familiar operatic work
with new life.

This film follows Vienna-based composerconductor Nader Mashayekhi as he returns
to his homeland, Iran, to lead the Tehran
Symphony Orchestra. He meets young Iranian
musicians and talks to them about Western
classical music, about quiet, noise and listening.
He travels across parts of Iran, talking about
how it has changed, highlighting the gap
between his roots in this country and his life
in Europe. This moving film intersperses shots
of the striking Iranian desert with young
musicians trying to create art in a place that
discourages it. It emphasizes the paradox
of artistic and intellectual endeavors in an
environment that seems unaware of their
value. It has also turned into something of a
requiem, as Iranian authorities have reportedly
disbanded the orchestra.

This documentation of a Viennese production
of “Messiah” by George Frideric Handel tries
to inject a “story” into the original work. The
renowned musical oratorio lacks a cohesive plot
and is more of a philosophical reflection on God
and the power of faith. These questions also
serve as the starting point for director Claus
Guth, whose modern take weaves a tale about
three brothers. Family troubles push the three
to extremes, and drive them to question the
same issues Handel first raised. The production
features heavenly singers, a dancer (who may
or may not be Jesus) and a woman speaking
sign language. Viewers are drawn into a cold
and alienating world in which characters battle
powerful emotions. The result is fascinating,
exhilarating and utterly innovative.

Within the hell of Nazi Germany, a group
of Jews in the Theresienstadt Ghetto led by
conductor Rafael Schächter created art. Using
only a piano, he taught a choir of 150 inmates
Verdi’s Requiem without the help of sheet
music. The crescendo arrives when the group
performs before members of the Red Cross and
Nazi officials – on the same day that the Nazis
presented Theresienstadt as a “model ghetto”
in their propaganda.
But the Nazis’ cynical exploitation in no way
diminished the great power of the event. The
film cuts between a reenactment of the concert
from 1943 and a present-day re-creation of the
harrowing show in Theresienstadt. The power
of art has never been more persuasive.

the bad boy of contemporary dance, whose
use of nudity has shocked audiences, battles
Cystic Fibrosis. Doctors tell him he needs a
lung transplant within two years, or he’ll die.
Director Brigitte Poupart, St. Pierre’s friend and
longtime collaborator, follows him as he waits
for the phone to ring with news of a donor. The
film includes scenes of St. Pierre at home by
the phone, in the hospital and in the operating
room during the first transplant attempt. More
than anything, the film paints a picture of a
man who is unwilling to give up and of the
loneliness in the space between life and death.

In 1971, a group of dancers met in class at
Dartmouth College in New Hampshire. Soon
after they launched a collective that since has
created acrobatic works using the dancers’
incredible coordination and uncanny sense of
timing. They revolutionized the use of dancers’
bodies in such an athletic way – and were also
among the first to encourage male dancers to
get up close and personal. Inspired in part by
1960s counterculture, they wowed audiences by
pushing the boundaries of what was acceptable
in dance. Forty years later, the company is still
creating, and four of the original members
now manage the troupe. Younger dancers and
choreographers have joined Pilobolus along the
way, ensuring that the group will never cease to
innovate – or to amaze.

A Sahrawi woman, now in her late 70s, sits in
a refugee camp in the Algerian desert, longing
for the home that was taken from her during
the Moroccan invasion 35 years earlier. Meet Al
Khadra, the protagonist of this short film, one
in a series of portraits of Arab poets of protest.
The illiterate Al Khadra creates verse in her head
and recites it to someone else who transcribes
it when it is ready. The younger generation
of refugees in the camp knows her and her
poetry well. The respect they have for her – and
her words – is evident in this film. In it, she
encourages them never to forget their homes
and never to stop dreaming about returning to
them one day.

John Irving is one of the most successful writers
in the world. And the world is his source of
inspiration. Irving, who has authored 13 novels,
researches his own work by interviewing
everyone from prostitutes in Amsterdam to
tattoo artists in Berlin. “The World According
to Irving” tries to get into the mind of the man
who penned “The World According to Garp”,
“The Hotel New Hampshire” and “The Cider
House Rules”. The film tries to understand how
he does it, and what makes a full-time author
tick. It follows Irving from his house (which his
wife’s grandfather won in a bet) on a private
island to various trips he takes to conduct
research. It aims to see the world through the
eyes of the man whose life story, including his
start as a professional boxer, sounds like the
product of his prolific imagination.

One man, a former felon and present-day
poet, uses words to recount his story and pick
himself up by his bootstraps. He doesn’t talk
about his father, but was close to his mother,
whose death from AIDS still haunts him. Lemon
Andersen used to stroll the streets of Brooklyn
committing robberies with his brothers, until
he landed in prison. There he acquired discipline
and discovered books. Armed with those two
things, and with the help of his loving family,
he forged a new path. He’s got a baby face and
a winning personality, but his journey to the
stage (and into audiences’ and critics’ hearts) is
paved with failures. It takes a lot of guts to keep
aiming for success within the culture of piggish
capitalism, but Lemon’s art keeps him going.
And it keeps the audience rooting for him too.

tells the life story of a man whose country

Actress Lea Koenig has two great loves in her
life, and she is equally devoted to both: the first
is the theater, and the other is her husband,
Zvi Stolper, the actor and director who
discovered her acting talent and encouraged
her to pursue it.
Koenig comes from a family of actors. In 1961,
she and her husband immigrated to Israel from
Romania, and she immediately began acting at
Israel’s renowned Habima Theater. Despite the
new language and different mentality, Koenig
claimed success after success, including the
Israel Prize. This film focuses on the fine line
between the real and the imaginary – on the
heart of the life story of this wonderful actress.

studied music, a doctor turned TV presenter and
a jokester who can imitate chickens or moving
trains. Meet Dr. Jonathan Miller.
His mother was an author and his father a
child psychiatrist, and he followed that path
into medicine. Even in college he was drawn to
the arts; he helped write and produce Beyond
the Fringe, the seminal stage revue rightly
considered a highlight of British comedy in
the 20th century. Miller crossed various
mediums, but always brought his unique
perspective with him. Here, at age 78, he talks
about it all, with modesty and self-deprecation.

One of the most esteemed theater directors
working in Europe today is the Polish Krzystof
Warlikowski, an innovator and revolutionary in
his field. This film offers a rare glimpse at this
great artistic mind immersed in creation while
at work on “(A)pollonia.” The award-winning
show conceived by Warlikowski is about three
women and their different sacrifices: The first
is Iphigenia, Agamemnon’s daughter, who is
to be sacrificed so that her father’s troops can
set sail to preserve their honor; the second is
Alcestis, the princess from Greek mythology
made famous in Euripdes’ tragedy named after
her, who made sacrifices for her husband; and
the third is and Apolonia Machczyn´ska, a Pole
who sacrificed herself to save 25 Jews during
World War II.

It’s hard to explain what makes one man who
journeys between Tibetan monasteries so
captivating. But one thing’s for sure: few eyes

Andrew Carnegie was not only wealthy; he
was also a great patron of the arts. When
he built New York’s famed Carnegie Hall, he
requested that the building’s upper floors
house studios where artists could live and
work without having to pay sky-high rent. Over
the years, important artists – from Isaac Stern
and Marilyn Monroe to Leonard Bernstein and
Isadora Duncan – lived there for short-term
and long-term stints. But then the Carnegie
Hall Corporation got greedy and began evicting
the artists. One of them, Josef Astor, the film’s
director, began documenting with great
emotion and empathy the residents’ final days
in the building. The wonderful characters in this
film share a past full of colorful anecdotes from

Photographer and protest artist Yoram Amir
uncovers and documents the rapid process of
destruction taking place in Jerusalem. The city,
the “legendary bride,” is being stripped of its
gems – historic houses with soul and character
that were built in the 19th century outside the
Old City walls. They are being bulldozed and
replaced with modern monstrosities that have
no place in the holy city. In response, Amir founds
the “Shame Underground,” undertakes daring
acts to undermine the establishment using
his weapon: a camera. A similar pain drives
architect Saadia Mendel, one of Israel’s first
preservationists. He takes on special interest
groups and battles against what he calls the
“Insta-culture”. The stories of these two men
intertwine in this film, which sheds light on the
struggle over Jerusalem’s heritage and spirit.

The studio of artist Uri Lifshitz, who passed
away in 2011, remains the same as when he
was alive. Everything is untouched, like a still
life: brushes, paint, furniture, his notes and,
of course, his paintings. Three floors that hold
2,000 orphaned works. While Lifshitz was alive,
intellectuals flocked to his studio, but no one
from the art establishment ever visited.
Lifshitz’s presence is tangible in this film: in the
hundreds of paintings, in the unique, profound
political and social messages that emanate
from them. The man and the artist, as well as
the pain of being rejected by the establishment,
all emerge from Lifshitz’s stunning and
powerful art.

This is an intimate portrait of the creative
process behind “Envelopes,” a dance concert
by Israeli choreographer Keren Levi and British
musician Tom Parkinson. The piece stars Keren’s
younger sister, Israeli dancer Reut Levi, and
Tom’s identical twin brother, musician Alex
Parkinson. In creating the work, the artists
explore sibling relationships through the prism
of art; both the dance concert and the film
depict four artists in search of identity, family
and home – in the studio and on stage.

A look at the life of interdisciplinary artist
Honi Hameagel: His work lies between fantasy
and reality, blurs boundaries and strives to
transform hedonism, lust and the messy
underside of life into art. As he once put it,
“The best things in life are dirty.” The Honi he
created with his group “Smartut” (Hebrew for
rag) is outrageous, incendiary and morbid – and
focuses on the place where religion, holocaust
and sex meet. Just a few of the words that
can be associated with his art are provocative,
banal, primitive, fatal, pornographic, madness,
bestial, death and destruction. At the same
time, his biography remains murky and one
is left wondering: Can Honi ever truly be
understood?

Yuval Marom imagines and explores our world
from the dawn of the universe to 100,000 years
into the future. A training accident during his
army service prompted him to doubt everything
and to reexamine the rules that define his
existence. Marom set out to discover the driving
force in life. He is a creator: He draws, practices
martial arts and writes screenplays. His journey,
marked by a lack of inhibition and limits,
brought him to the world of classical art –
from the Louvre to the Uffizi to the École
des Beaux-Arts in Paris, where he became a
professor at age 30. Now, amid infinite expanses
in the desert, far from any influence, he creates.

This film tells the story of an unlikely alliance:
Israeli Yaakov Arnon, an ex-government
official–turned–peace activist, and Mahmoud
Subah, an Arab actor and director, who does not
believe in coexistence, join forces. Together they
established a theater group for Jewish youths
from Kibbutz Harduf and their Arab peers from
Shfaram. The troupe flies to England for 30 days
of rehearsals there. But do they have a winning
chance of staging the Brothers Grimm fairy
tales in a London theater – and in English? This
story, an incredible human journey, serves as
the framework for “Chance,” which focuses on
the backstory we are all too familiar with: that
of the Arab-Israeli conflict.

The Bernard Herrmann Show

This event pays homage to Bernard Herrmann, one of the greatest composers of film scores
in cinematic history. Herrmann’s music is referenced again and again in contemporary culture,
from “The Simpsons” to Terry Gilliam’s genius work in “12 Monkeys”. Concerts are often devoted to his
orchestral and cinematic compositions, and books and documentaries continue to examine the broad
influence of Herrmann and his work.
Part 1: A lecture about the man, his work, his importance in cinematic history and his legacy
Part 2: A screening of scenes from “The Birds,” the 1963 classic by Alfred Hitchcock
Part 3: A special project in which three students of scoring at Sapir College try step into Herrmann’s shoes,
by composing music for scenes from the only Hitchcock film originally released without a film score.

The idea for the exhibition "Harun Farocki: Imagination at Work" arose
during the artist's residency at the Jerusalem Center for the Visual Arts
in March 2012. The exhibition "Labour in a Single Shot" originated in
Harun Farocki and Antje Ehmann's workshop, initiated by the Jerusalem
Center for the Visual Arts and held at Beit Berl College School of Art–
Hamidrasha, in March 2012.

‫יונתן בר גיורא הלחין בעשור האחרון למעלה ממאה פסקולים לסרטי‬
‫קולנוע וטלוויזיה‪ .‬ביניהם מוזיקה מקורית לסרטים עטורי פרסים‪.‬‬
‫כמו כן הלחין‪ ,‬עיבד והפיק את שלשת אלבומי האולפן האחרונים של‬
‫יוסי בנאי‪.‬‬
‫במופע יועלו לראשונה על במה גירסאות אישיות של בר גיורא לשירי‬
‫נושא וקטעי מוזיקה שכתב לההסדר‪ ,‬טהורה‪ ,‬הכוכבים של שלומי‪,‬‬
‫מעורב ירושלמי‪ ,‬אביבה אהובתי‪ ,‬שיר שכתב עלי מוהר ז"ל על פי‬
‫מנגינת הנושא של "חלומו של הנרי"‪ ,‬גירסאות חדשות למספר עבודות‬
‫משותפות עם יוסי בנאי ועוד הפתעות רבות‪.‬‬
‫ערב זה הוא גם מחווה של בר גיורא לנגנים שהשתתפו ביצירת מרבית‬
‫הפרוייקטים שהלחין‪ ,‬ביניהם ינקלה סגל‪ ,‬אורן פריד‪ ,‬אבי בן דב ואמיר‬
‫שהסאר‪ .‬בר גיורא עצמו ינגן בפסנתר וקלידים‪.‬‬
‫המופע ילווה בהקרנת קטעי מוזיקה מתוך עשרות סרטים שהלחין‬
‫בר גיורא‪.‬‬

‫‪This is a unique opportunity to listen to a‬‬
‫‪series of musical monologues by Israeli composer‬‬
‫‪Jonathan Bar Giora. The performance includes works‬‬
‫‪for film, theater and spoken-word albums that he‬‬
‫‪composed over 15 years. Musicians he has long collaborated‬‬
‫‪with will accompany him on stage, and excerpts from some‬‬
‫‪original films will be screened as well.‬‬

Meitar Ensemble honors John Cage
In his lecture, “The Future of Music”, John Cage writes that the modern
composer will have to deal not only with the world of sound, but with
the world of time as well. Every existing sound, tempo and rhythm
can be reconstructed and recreated, there are no limits to the modern
composer, and he is almighty.
In Cage’s pieces, which will be played by Meitar Ensemble, we will find
a variety of musical inventions. Cage allows the audience to always
witness a one of a kind piece, which will never repeat itself.
