The eight Big 12 wins were the third-most in school history. NU has led the Big 12 in scoring defense each of the last two seasons, holding opponents to less than 61 points per game and ranking in the top 25 nationally. Prior to the current string, Nebraska had never led the Big 12 in the category. The Cornhuskers had the fewest turnovers in the Big 12 in 2008-09 in both all games (357) and conference play (185). Senior guard Ryan Anderson is eighth on the Nebraska career 3-pointers list with 131 in his first three seasons and ranks 15th on the all-time steals chart (113). He shot 48 percent from beyond the arc over the final eight games of 2008-09. All-Time Record Seasons 113 The Huskers made their 22nd postseason appearance overall and 16th in the NIT in 2008-09. The Sooners’ 30 victories overall were their most since finishing 31-5 during the ‘01-02 campaign. OU has advanced to the regional semifinals nine times in school history and to a regional final contest three times in the past eight years. Sophomore guard Willie Warren set a school freshman record with a team-best 67 field goals from 3-point range last season. He finished with 525 points overall, the fourth-highest total by a freshman in Big 12 history. Warren had seven games with at least 20 points a year ago, the most by a Sooner freshman since 198384. His top performance was 35 points at Arkansas, which tied for No. 10 on the all-time single-game scoring output list for a Big 12 freshman. Oklahoma needs two wins to reach 1,500 in the history of the program. The all-time record of 1498-942 (.614) is third-best among Big 12 teams in both victories and winning percentage. Junior guard James Anderson enters the 2009-10 season 29th on the school scoring list with 1,076 points. A repeat of last year’s point total (638) would move him into the top four of the Cowboys’ career scoring chart. Junior forward Marshall Moses grabbed 142 rebounds in league games a year ago, breaking the OSU season record for Big 12 contests. He had double-digit boards in six of his last 11 outings overall. The Cowboys have advanced to postseason play in each of their last 13 seasons and 20 of the past 21 campaigns. OSU Head Coach Travis Ford is just the third coach in school history to win 20 or more games in his first season. It also marked the 15th time in the last 19 campaigns that the Cowboys have won 20 or more. The Longhorns have also had at least nine Big 12 victories every year under Head Coach Rick Barnes. Senior Damion James ranks prominently on the Big 12 career rebound lists, placing sixth overall and 10th in conference games only. A repeat of last season’s totals would make him the league’s all-time leader in both categories. Senior center Dexter Pittman recorded doubledoubles in three of UT’s five postseason games a year ago. He averaged 10.4 rebounds over his last five outings overall. Junior guard Dogus Balbay had 23 games last year with one turnover or less, including zero turnovers in a contest nine times. He led the Big 12 in conference games only with a 3.5 assist-to-turnover ratio. The Longhorns are one of just six schools to appear in 19 of the last 21 NCAA Tournaments. UT is 3330 all-time in NCAA competition, including 17-11 under Barnes. Prior to the current streak, the Aggies last recorded a NCAA victory in 1980. Only two schools besides A&M have registered postseason wins in the last five seasons. The Aggies (4 NCAA, 1 NIT), join Memphis and North Carolina as the only squads with at least one postseason victory during that span. Junior guard B.J. Holmes led the Big 12 in 3-point percentage during conference games last season, hitting at a .470 clip. It marked the third time in the last five years that an Aggie has led the Big 12 in 3-point shooting in league action. The Aggies set a school record last season with 594 free throws made, a total that was 12th nationally. A&M was the only Big 12 team that made more free throws than its opponents attempted (577). Texas A&M has won 56 straight regular-season nonconference games at Reed Arena. The team is 50-6 (.893) at home since 2006-07 and its home record over the last five years (83-12, .874) is the secondmost victories in the country (Memphis, 89).
