The Bears are also 30-4 at home over the past two seasons. BU brings back six of its top seven scorers from a year ago. The Bears will have their top three rebounders on the court again and 86 percent of their rebounding return overall. Sophomore Perry Jones III started a Baylor freshman-record 30 games in 2010-11. He led the team in shooting at 54.9 percent en route to becoming the first player in program history to earn USBWA Freshman All-America honors. Junior forward Quincy Acy had nine doubledoubles a year ago and scored in double digits 23 times. He shot 73.7 percent from the field over his last three contests, with 25 rebounds. Head coach Scott Drew is entering his ninth campaign at Baylor, tied for the second-longest current tenure in the Big 12 (Bill Self, KU). Drew is averaging 22.8 wins over the last four seasons. The top returning long-range shooter in the Big 12, he hit 86 shots from beyond the arc last season - a total that ranked 33rd nationally. Sophomore forward Melvin Ejim averaged 10.3 points and 6.7 rebounds in 2010-11, the 12th freshman in ISU history to score in double figures. The Cyclones finished with a .500 overall record last season for the first time since 2005-06. Iowa State was the only last-place team in any conference nationally to finish .500 or better. ISU shot 85 percent or better from the free throw line in seven different Big 12 games a year ago. The Cyclones were second in the league in free throw percentage in Big 12 play with a .771 mark. Fred Hoiberg guided his team to a 13-2 start in 2010-11, the second-best beginning by a first-year Cyclone coach. He was recognized as National Rookie Coach of the Year by Basketball Times. Senior guard Tyshawn Taylor finished strong in 2010-11, shooting 50 percent or better from the floor in six of his last seven contests and recording double-digit points in five of the last six games. Taylor finished the year with a team-best 164 assists, 18th on the single-season list at Kansas. The total was second in the Big 12 a season ago and is the most among returning players. Head coach Bill Self is the all-time Big 12 leader in winning percentage for all games played with an .837 mark (237-46). He needs two wins to move into second place on the overall victories chart. The Wildcats have also notched five straight 20win seasons en route to their five consecutive postseason showings. It marks the first time in school history that KSU has earned a postseason bid in five straight years. Junior guard Rodney McGruder was the only Wildcat to start all 34 games last season. He led KSU with 202 rebounds and finished second in scoring with 11.1 points per game. Sophomore Will Spradling shot 87.5 percent from the free throw line last season, leading all freshman regulars in the Big 12. He was perfect from the charity stripe in 11 different contests. KSU has been nationally-ranked in the top 25 in 30 of the past 36 weeks. Prior to the current string, the ‘Cats had been ranked a total of eight weeks in the history of the Big 12. All five return for MU this year. The Tigers bring back 89.5 percent of their scoring, 89.1 percent of their rebounding, 90.0 percent of their assists and 92.1 percent of their steals from last season. Senior guard Marcus Denmon is the lone honoree back from the 2011 All-Big 12 First Team. He finished the season strong, scoring 19 points or more in seven of his last nine outings. The Tigers were second nationally in steals with 9.7 per game a year ago. Mizzou has led the Big 12 in the category four times in the last five seasons, placing in the top five nationally each time. Sophomore guard Phil Pressey set a MU freshman record with 117 assists while finishing one behind the school’s freshman steals mark (61). Both totals led all Big 12 freshmen in 2010-11.
