Information regarding Avnei Pina courses at the
Rothberg International School (RIS)
Students who would like to experience studies in an international
ambience – pedagogically and socially - within the framework of the
Avnei Pina program can take advantage of some courses offered in
the Rothberg International School. This choice can broaden one’s
intellectual horizons and provide a taste of “studying abroad”. While
such students are more than welcome to make this choice, it is
crucially important that you become aware that the administrative
envelope of courses offered in RIS differs from those offered at the
Hebrew University. The following are the major differences:
 All Avnei Pina courses in RIS are taught in English.
Consequently, prior to registration to these courses you
must
have a Ptor in English
 There are no Moadei Bet (‫ )מועדי ב‬in courses at RIS. Therefore,
in courses where the final assignment is an exam, there will be
only one date for the final exam.
 Note that the RIS Undergraduate Division calendar differs from all
other departments of the Hebrew University (and usually starts
earlier than the regular semester). It is advisable to check the start
date

semester

 The semester for Avnei Pina courses offered through the
Undergraduate Division at RIS is shorter than other Avnei Pina
courses and consists of 11 weeks only (different than the typical
14 weeks long semester of Hebrew University).
Thus, RIS
courses conclude 3 weeks earlier than the typical end of
semester at Hebrew University. Each course is worth 3 credits
(‫)נקודות זכות‬. Please take into consideration that the final exam
in your course might take place during the regular Hebrew
University semester.
 Registration for Avnei Pina courses at RIS must be done via
Ms. Arlene Gorodenchik at the Division of Undergraduate
Studies, Boyar Building, room 426 at the Rothberg International
School. Registration via Rishum-Net (‫ )רישום נט‬alone is not
sufficient.

‫סטודנטים החייבים באבני פינה ומעוניינים לחוות לימודים באווירה בינלאומית‪ ,‬הן‬
‫פדגוגית והן חברתית‪ ,‬מוזמנים לבדוק מספר קורסים הניתנים במסגרת בית הספר‬
‫לתלמידי חו"ל על שם רוטברג‪ .‬לימודים במסגרת ביה"ס לתלמידי חו"ל מאפשרים‬
‫לסטודנטים הרחבת אופקים כמו גם טעימה מצורת הלימודים בחו"ל‪.‬‬
‫חשוב לדעת עם זאת כי בחירה ללמוד באחד או יותר מהקורסים הניתנים במסגרת‬
‫בית הספר לתלמידי חו"ל מחייבת הבנה וקבלה כי המסגרת האירגונית של קורסים‬
‫אלו דומה לאופן בו לומדים בחו"ל ולכן הם שונים מהותית במספר דברים‬
‫מהקורסים הניתנים במסגרת הרגילה של האוניברסיטה העברית‪:‬‬

‫כל קורסי אבני פינה בביה"ס לתלמידי חו"ל נלמדים באנגלית בלבד‪ .‬מאחר‬
‫וכך‪ ,‬רק סטודנטים בעלי פטור מאנגלית יוכלו להירשם לקורסים אילו‪.‬‬
‫בקורסים הניתנים במסגרת בית הספר לתלמידי חו"ל אין מועדי ב'‪ .‬לפיכך‪,‬‬
‫בקורסים בהם המטלה הסופית הינה מבחן ייקבע רק מועד בחינה אחד‪.‬‬
‫סטודנטים ללימודי בוגר בבית הספר לתלמידי חו"ל לומדים סמסטר מקוצר‬
‫בן ‪ 88‬שבועות בלבד (בניגוד ל‪ 85 -‬שבועות בקורסי האוניברסיטה‬
‫העברית)‪ ,‬אשר בדרך כלל מתחיל לפני הסמסטר באוניברסיטה העברית‪.‬‬
‫הקורסים במסגרת יחידה זו הינם ‪ 3‬נ"ז ומסתיימים לפני תום הסמסטר‬
‫באוניברסיטה העברית‪ .‬יש לקחת בחשבון כי יתכן מאד והמבחן בסוף כל‬
‫קורס יתקיים בזמן שעדיין מתקיימים לימודים ביתר קורסי האוניברסיטה‬
‫העברית‪.‬‬
