Due to the escalating burden from cardiovascular disease (CVD) in India and elsewhere, it is timely that Dr.G.N.Mahapatra and his able team is undertaking this conference. It has become extremely important to detect and treat CVD at an early stage to prevent serious sequale and chronic disease burden. Herein lies the value of cardiac imaging and clinical cardiology. A Clinician should be able to prevent, detect, and treat CVD effectively with the diagnostic tools available for cardiac imaging. At present clinical cardiology and cardiac imaging are inseparable disciplines. Scientific advances made in these two fields will be helpful to the patients and their families. Ultimately, accurate diagnosis of CVD will improve the public health of our great country. I congratulate Dr.G.N.Mahapatra and his team for putting together an excellent conference dedicated to cardiac imaging and clinical cardiology, and let us offer our full support and encouragement to this scientific endeavor. It is a remarkable undertaking indeed. C. Venkata S. Ram President, WCCICC 2017 Invitation WCCICC 2 0 1 7 § M U M B A I Dear esteem colleagues, On behalf of the members of the organizing committee and the scientific committee, I extend my cordial invitation to you all at the maiden World Congress on Cardiac Imaging and Clinical Cardiology (WCCICC-2017) here at the vibrant City of Mumbai, from 23rd-26th Feb 2017. I am sure this unique congress will be a most memorable one in term of exchange of scientific thoughts, applications and indications of various imaging modality, type of interventions etc. I assure you all that the memories of this scientific feast at Grand Hyatt will be a long lasting one. I once again welcome you all to this important congress going to be staged here in Mumbai. C. K. Ponde Chairman, Core Committe, WCCICC 2017 Consultant Cardiologist, Department of Cardilology, Hinduja Hospital, Mumbai M E S SAG E S WCCICC will strive toward an ecumenical approach to imaging; promoting cooperation between the now distinct, often competing, and parochially biased imaging disciplines. This symposium will actively seek to change the thinking from imaging as destination to imaging as a patient care enhancer. It will serve as a soap box to encourage the development of an integrated cardiovascular imaging subspecialty. Jagat Narula Chief of Cardiology, St. Luke’s & Roosevelt Hospitals of Mount Sinai Director, Cardiovascular Imaging, Mount Sinai Health System Editor-in-Chief, Journal of the American College of Cardiology- Imaging ‘The first World Congress in Cardiac Imaging and Clinical Cardiology will provide the latest updates in the field of Interventional Cardiology with special focus on the treatment of STEMI patients and evolving percutaneous treatment of valvular heart disease (TAVI, MitraClip)’ Samin Sharma Chief of Cath Lab & Interventional Cardiologist, Mount Sinai Hospital, NewYork, USA The WCCICC will integrate topics in cardiovascular imaging and clinical cardiology, focusing primarily on clinical applications that enhance patient care. There will be lectures, case discussions, demonstrations and debates delivered by leaders in the field. The vibrant city of Mumbai will be an apt location for this unique conference. Prem Soman Director, Nuclear Cardiology, Director, Advanced Cardiac Imaging Fellowship Heart and Vascular Institute, University of Pittsburgh Medical Center Pittsburgh, USA Vice President, American Society of Nuclear Cardiology (ASNC) The WCCICC will highlight current updates in the field of interventional cardiology and cardiac imaging. Cardiac imaging has become an essential tool in performing a successful cardiac intervention. I am proud to be associated with such high caliber meeting and wish the Congress all the best !!! Fayaz Shawl Director, Interventional Cardiology, Washington Adventist Hospital Clinical Professor of Medicine, George Washington University, USA M E S SAG E Mumbai will glow with the unique world congress on cardiac imaging and clinical cardiology scheduled to be held w.e.f. 23rd -26th February 2017. Medical science is a rapidly advancing field and yesterday’s facts may become matter for the archives to store and today’s facts may not find agreement with experts of tomorrow. Continuing medical education is therefore an integral part of medical profession. The scientific committee with international luminaries like Dr. Jagat Narula, Dr. Samin Sharma and Dr. Prem Soman coupled with National Scientific Committee, I am sure will draft a scintillating scientific programme which will attract the medical fraternity from diverse fields. A galaxy of speakers from different parts of the globe will be addressing on current issues in cardiac imaging and clinical cardiology. I am sure the delegates will enjoy the flashes of their expertise during their discourse. The recent technological advances has no doubt greatly facilitated the delineation of various diseases and also reduced the risk during interventions but most of these procedures are costly and beyond the reach of a common man. Attention should therefore be paid on economics of treatment also so that health care does not remain the preserve of few and fruits of research are distributed to those who need it the most irrespective of their financial status. I am sure the two days conference will immensely contribute towards better patient care P. C. Manoria Chairman, Scientific Committee, WCCICC, Mumbai Ex. Prof. & Head. Dept. of Cardiology, GMC Bhopal Past Chairman Hypertension Council APSC Past Vice President SAARC Cardiac Society Past National President CSI, API, ICC, ISE etc. Past Dean ICP, ICMU M E S SAG E Cardiovascular Diseases (CVD) cause considerable financial burden on the people of middle and lower income group countries. WHO estimates that by 2020, CVD is expected to the single most cause of death among the people of age group between 25 to 60 years the most productive period in any family. I wish to congratulate Prof. G. N. Mahapatra, the Chief Coordinator of WCCICC for having thought about this serious issue and organise this challenging event in Mumbai, the commercial capital of India. I am sure this will provide a great platform for the experts in Cardiac Imaging and Clinical Cardiology, to contemplate and find a possible solution to save these vulnerable young people so that they could significantly contribute to their nation’s economy.
