Elections Soon!
Is it your turn to
serve a term in
office?
And More From The Vice President
Hey Mopar Friends,
It is COWTOWN MOPAR ROUNDUP time! I'm looking forward to another GREAT turnout and a GREAT
show! We still could use some volunteers at the car show. PLEASE do
your part in making this years show
the best ever. Contact any board member to see
what you can do to help. We also need a
lot of door prize stuff. Go by your local parts
house, restaurant ...,take a show flyer and ask
for a donation. You will be surprised how
generous they will be.
We have had 2 races in the TMCCC and we
are 2 and 0. By the time you read this I hope
we are 3 and 0. We out scored the vet club by
38 points at Kennedale and 11 points in
Ennis. We keep the roving plaque and are
showing everyone that last year was not a flash
in the pan. Lets keep adding to our lead as the
season progresses. I have missed seeing some
of our regular racers at the first 2 races. I
hope to see ya at the upcoming races. I
sure hope to see some new faces also.
Join us and you will have a GREAT
time.
If you missed our last meeting all of the
previous board members were reelected
except for the Treasurer position. Mike Sonnamaker choose not to run another term. THANKS
to Mike for his service in 2002-2003. I would
also like to WELCOME Rick Brownell as the
new Treasurer.
Don't forget to renew your club membership.
See ya at the show, the races, Scotty's, swap
meet…etc.
See ya soon.

Race Report by Ken Castleman
Alan Johnson and Darrel Alderman both made it to the semi-finals today at the Winter Nationals with Johnson making it to the finals and being the runner-up. Alderman lost in the
semi-finals to the winner, Warren Johnson. Alderman was the number three qualifier this
weekend. Stanfield was the number one qualifier in the other Dodge. Looks like that
Dodge may have a good year this time.
The Greatest Cars
Winners from
FW Rod & Custom Show
Jeff Peterson, Bob Graham
Tem Greene, & Tommy Martin
The greatest cars are in Cowtown, USA ….not only in the Fort Worth area but in our own car club. I bought my first
Mopar in October 1964, a ‘65 Barracuda Commando and in 1966 the new Charger. So I have seen a Mopar or two (I’m old,
you know!). This year at the Fort Worth Rod and Custom Show I walked into the show and saw a 1970 black Barracuda with
a red interior. I had never seen the car before or one like it for that matter. It was in an unbelievable condition! It looked better than it did when it was new. It would make you throw rocks at Marilyn Monroe. Well, that is questionable; but it was the
nicest Barracuda I have ever seen.
The words just came out of my mouth…”Whose is that?”. Since no one was around me, I
looked on the show car on the window and the name read JEFF PETERSON. I could not believe he hadn’t mentioned it to me, or someone in the club, or put it in the newspaper, or on
the radio, or shouted it from the mountain top, or ...you get the message. By the way the car
did win OUTSTANDING MOPAR OF THE SHOW and it was well, well, well deserved.
We have a lot of great cars in our car club. In this area you can go to the local
burger whatever on any given weekend and see as nice and unusual cars as you would see in
Las Vegas or Hollywood. I love living here, Don’t you? Lets show and talk about those unusual beauties whenever we get a
chance.

COWTOWN MOPAR OF THE MONTH
David Baures 1968 Plymouth Road Runner
The car story: 1968 Plymouth Road Runner
My Mom originally purchased this car after coming home from the 1989 Mopar Nationals.
The car was in need of just about everything, so the restoration project began with my Mom, Dad,
and I all working on various parts. The car was ready for paint in 1990 and was treated to a fresh
shade of Mopar Graphic Red. After selling my 1968 GTX race car, I was able to persuade my Mom
to sell me this car in 1995.
For the past several years I have continued to work on the car and added the
“PLYMOUTH" decals on the rear quarters to make it eye catching. I finished rebuilding the 383
with Speed Pro pistons, polished factory rods, and a factory forged crank. The "452" heads were
treated to big valves and were completely ported and corrected to 86 cc's. I installed a mild Crane
hydraulic camshaft with Crane adjustable rocker arms. I have always liked Holly carbs, so a 750
double pumper was added on top of a Wieand intake. A set of TTI headers and complete 2.5" exhaust system make it sound great. A set of 15" X 8" wheels in the rear and 15" X 7" wheels in
front give the car a great road feel. The factory 4 speed/383 with 3.55 gears make it a great street
driver and lots of fun. Future plans will include a few trips down the 1/4 mile.
Thanks,
David Baures
