Transition
Changing models of cooperation - are we on board?
Finnish Water Forum (FWF)/ Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland (MFA)
Development aid, development co-operation, partnerships – what next? The development discourse has been
reinvented throughout the history of aid and for a reason – there is hardly anyone that could claim that
change is not welcome in the field of development. But do we know where we are going to and where we
should be heading at? The development field is changing rapidly; some of the so called developing countries
are now some of the biggest economies in the world. Some actors are propagating commercial relations as
the most efficient way to create development, some are supporting more traditional ways of development
cooperation bottom-up approaches and some by equal partnerships. What is the most efficient way of
creating development? Do we have a consensus, do we have a conflict, do we need to have a consensus and
what can we learn from each other here? We are all part of the great transition but where is it taking us and
are we on board?
This mini seminar is aimed to personnel working with water related projects in the ministries, embassies,
companies, research/educational institution and NGOs.
Language in the seminar is English.
