Most telephones will have a headset socket with one of two wiring configurations. Based on the type of phone you have, either the Black or White tail cord is required to install your HD Wireless. The information below will help you determine the correct tail cord to use with your phone. Black Cord Use for most current telephone models with a dedicated headset socket, including those manufactured by: • Alcatel • Aria / LG IPECS • Avaya • Nortel IP Phones • Polycom White Cord Use for some current telephone models with a dedicated headset socket, specifically those manufactured by: • Cisco • ShoreTel Also use for older telephone models that traditionally require an amplifier for headset use. Important Notes Some phones have a 2.5mm or 3.5mm headset socket. The HD Wireless will operate normally when connected into the handset socket of these phones, however some phone models will require a headset button to be programmed to operate in this configuration. In instances where the 2.5mm or 3.5mm socket must be utilised, the appropriate adaptor cable can be ordered through your headset supplier. A full list of telephone makes and models and the recommended tail cord can be viewed at www.polaris.com.au/wirelesscompatibility. ADVANCED HD WIRELESS FEATURES The HD Wireless supports a maximum wireless range of up to 150 metres. Physical obstructions and electromagnetic interference may shorten this range. 8.1 WIRELESS RANGE 8.2 HEADSET DENSITY LIMITS The headset sound quality may deteriorate the further the headset is away from the base. When the headset is completely out of range, a tone (two urgent descending tones) will be played in the headset every few seconds. If the headset is on a call when moved out of range, the audio will be lost; however the call will remain active at the base for 120 seconds. To restore audio to the call, move the headset back in range of the HD Wireless headset base. If the headset remains out of range of the headset base for more than an hour, the headset will power down to conserve battery. 1 Introduction 2 Care and Maintenance 3 Product Overview 4 System Setup and Connections 5 Touchscreen Display 6 Settings Overview 7 HD Wireless Headset Controls 8 Advanced HD Wireless Features 9 Conference Calling 10 Support 11 Warranty and Safety Information 8. ADVANCED HD WIRELESS FEATURES 8.1 WIRELESS RANGE 8.2 HEADSET DENSITY LIMITS If too many wireless headsets are operated in a confined space, interference can occur. Small or home offices do not usually experience this problem because the density levels of wireless headsets are quite low. HD Wireless headsets operate on the DECT 1.8GHz frequency band and utilise 120 dedicated DECT channels. This means that 120 headsets can be used at the same time within the same area. When using your HD Wireless headset in Wideband mode, this will operate on two DECT channels instead of one which means the number of HD Wireless headsets that can be used in the same area will be halved. NARROWBAND MODE WIDEBAND MODE 120 headsets* 60 headsets* *Number of headsets based on area size 250m² Using a lower wireless range setting will increase the number of headsets that can be used at the same time however this will reduce your wireless range. 1 Introduction 2 Care and Maintenance 3 Product Overview 4 System Setup and Connections 5 Touchscreen Display 6 Settings Overview 7 HD Wireless Headset Controls 8 Advanced HD Wireless Features 9 Conference Calling 10 Support 11 Warranty and Safety Information 9. CONFERENCE CALLING 9.1 CONFERENCE CALL VIA THE CONFERENCE CALL ICON The HD Wireless enables up to three additional HD Wireless headsets to be connected to the base. NOTE: When on a conference call you automatically switch to Narrowband mode. CONNECT ADDITIONAL HEADSET(S) 1. While the Master Headset is undocked, dock a secondary headset with the base hosting the call. Pairing will take a few seconds after which the touchscreen will indicate a positive connection. Select ‘Guest’ on the touch screen when prompted how you would like to connect. When the headsets are successfully paired, three-tones will sound in the Master Headset. 2. Tap the Multi-function button on the Master Headset or press ‘Yes’ on the touchscreen to accept the secondary headset. The audio is now shared between headsets. NOTE: The Guest headset is automatically muted. 3. Repeat the procedure to connect additional headsets, as required (Maximum 3 additional guest headsets). ENDING OR LEAVING THE CONFERENCE The Master Headset user can end the conference by hanging up the call from the headset. The call is ended for all headsets. Guests can leave the conference by tapping the multi-function button on their headset, or by Single Tapping the appropriate Guest End Conference icon on the Master Base touchscreen. The conference call is still active for all other headsets. 1 Introduction 2 Care and Maintenance 3 Product Overview 4 System Setup and Connections 5 Touchscreen Display 6 Settings Overview 7 HD Wireless Headset Controls 8 Advanced HD Wireless Features 9 Conference Calling 10 Support 11 Warranty and Safety Information 9.
