A Message from Our President
Aug., 2016
My Fellow Fagowees,
I just finished riding across Ohio from Cincinnati for the Pan Ohio Hope Ride. It
was extremely hot and grueling, but it was worth it. The purpose of this ride is
to raise money for the American Cancer Society. A portion of these funds goes
to their Hope Lodges. These are places where cancer patients who have to
travel to get lifesaving treatments can stay with their families for free. It's an
amazing program and over the years I've heard from and talked to many
people who have stayed at a Hope Lodge. Their stories are amazing and
uplifting. They kept me going through the hardest parts of the ride. This year
we raised over $900,000 dollars for this great cause!
Later this month, the Fagowees will be raising money for a different charity.
One most non-skiers, and many skiers have never heard of. 3 Trackers is one of
the oldest adaptive ski programs in the United States. It was founded in the
late 60's by Bert Fischer and Paul Leimkuhler. The term 3 Trackers comes from
the 3 tracks left in the snow by a skier with only one leg. Skiers with leg
amputations use adapted ski poles called outriggers. It functions like a ski pole
and crutch and has a small ski tip on the end. Over the years the program has
evolved to allow people with other types of disabilities to experience the sport
we all love. We all know how liberating it is to execute a controlled fall down
the side of a mountain. Imagine how this must feel to someone who can't
walk!
Erik and Clark Fischer are the sons of one of the founders of 3 Trackers. They
are having a picnic and corn hole tournament to benefit this great organization.
It's on August 13th at Clark's house. You have to go just to see his back yard!
For only $25 you get food, beer, a great pool and hot tub. For $20 more you
can pick a teammate and compete in the corn hole tournament. 1st prize is a
great set of Fagowees corn hole boards!
Please sign up soon! We got a late start on advertising this and need to make
sure we have a enough people to make this happen. You can sign up by going
to http://gofundme.com/2e37xrzw.

No Foolin’ Cleveland Fagowees Turn 50!
Save the date…. Saturday, April 1, 2017
Join us for the biggest party of the year to celebrate 50
years of the Cleveland Fagowees. It will be an evening of
food, friends, frivolity and plenty of music to dance the
night away. The party is at Michaud’s Party Center in
Strongsville. Formal attire is required.
So much partying, so little time so we will celebrate all
weekend with a happy hour on Friday and a continuation
of the party on Sunday. Details will be coming soon.
This will be one of many celebrations throughout the
year including events brought back from the early
Fagowee days. Be sure to check the website often, read
your newsletter and better yet, come to a meeting.
FAGOWEE OF THE MONTH
This month’s Fagowee of the month goes out to a music lover and golf fanatic! She is
currently the secretary for our club and she does a fantastic job. She opens her home
to host euchre nights and board meetings. She is one of the faces that greets us often
at the door for our meetings. She has donated baked goods for our bake sales and
she even brought strawberry cupcakes to the anniversary party! When she isn't at
her accounting job, you will most likely find her out on a golf course. She is a very
active member in the Fagowee's Golf club and made sure that we would have enough
golfers to play in the CMSC golf outing. And just recently she volunteered to help
Erik out with his corn tournament for the Three Trackers!
Congratulations Sue Koslowski, our August Fagowee of the Month!!!
