Paid to poo in India
Presenter:
A new scheme in India has been introduced to improve children’s toilet
habits. In Gujarat, a state in the northwest of the country, children are being
paid to use public toilets.
There is a problem in India with people going to the toilet outside. It is
estimated around half of the population do not use a proper toilet. Many
people in the country don’t have toilets in their homes.
Children are being paid one rupee a day – that’s less than half a Swedish
crown – if they use the public toilets.
The children’s charity UNICEF has previously tried to bring awareness to
the issue around the country and released this song in India. It’s called Take
The Poo To The Loo.
Music
Around 200,000 children die in India from diseases like diarrhoea. It is
hoped the scheme in Gujarat will stop such diseases from spreading and, if
the younger generation change their habits, then adults will do the same
too.

Female football players – finally in the game.
Presenter:
The latest version of a popular football video game will include female
players for the first time.
It will have women’s national teams from 12 countries, including Sweden.
The other countries are: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, England, France,
Germany, Italy, Mexico, Spain and the US.
As women’s football has risen in popularity, fans of the sport have been
putting increasing pressure on the makers of the video game to include
female players.
A petition on the website change.org stated: "Young girls can't be portrayed
by male video game characters.” The petition was signed by thousands of
people.
When the news was announced, Kosovare Asllani, a Swedish female
professional player, tweeted in English: “Finally, we are in the game.”

Teacher Stephanie Stephens:
Books are magic, you can learn anything in books and my kids all are
required to think outside the box and the critical thinking is really
important in my class.
Presenter:

Jackson:
I’m sorry that a page ripped when I fell asleep reading. It won’t happen
again. I’m sorry. From Jackson.

all.
Jackson:
I find it quite crazy for a kid to get this much attention.
