A Year in Space
7pm Wednesday, March 2
Also 3/4 3am
Despite the technological “comforts” of the
International Space Station, a year in space–the
longest space mission in American history–has
been described as the epitome of extreme, with
extraordinarily high physical stakes. Following
Scott in space and his identical twin Mark Kelly
at home on Earth, the special will tell the story of
what it takes, mentally and physically, to spend
a year in space and then, using what NASA has
learned from the Kelly brothers, what it means for
humanity as we journey to Mars and beyond.

400 recognized dog breeds from around the world, including designer breeds,
working dogs, wild dingoes, African painted dogs, and a pack of wolves.
Doc Martin: Season 7 Final Episode
8:15pm Thursday, March 10
As we reach the final episode in Series 7, Martin finds himself in a very unusual situation: trapped by Annie Winton, who desperately wants him to try and
save her husband, Jim Winton, despite Jim having been recently diagnosed
with terminal cancer. Meanwhile, Ruth and Bert have a proposition to put to
Al, regarding the whisky and the B&B. Louisa is very worried about Martin, and
wonders if the breakdown of their therapy could have led him to decide to leave
Portwenn for good. Penhale drives Louisa up to the Winton Farm, where despite
Annie trying to persuade them otherwise, they discover Martin. Now reunited
with Louisa, Martin performs a life saving operation on Jim. But is it too late for
Martin and Louisa to also save their marriage?

Day Benefit Kegger from its humble beginnings in 1972, through its meteoric growth
over the next eight years to its eventual
conclusion in 1979. In the process, the event

in the music business, featuring their top
recording hits, including “(They Long to Be)
Close to You,” “Top of the World,” “For All

Butte, America
7pm Thursday, March 17
Also 3/19 1am, 1pm
This documentary recounts the sometimes glorious, often sorrowful, but always
fascinating story of Butte, Montana, the
most lucrative hard rock mining town in
United States history; a place known as
“the Richest Hill on Earth,” “the Gibraltar of
Unionism,” “the town that plumbed and
electrified America” and “the Pittsburgh of
the West.” In this copper-mining metropolis,
the Industrial Revolution collided with the
romance of the frontier, corporate capitalism battled organized labor and the country’s ever-increasing appetite for metals
laid waste to land and water, yielding vast
fortunes for the copper barons and a tragic
environmental and economic legacy for the
people of Butte.
Narrated by actor Gabriel Byrne, the
epic story of the rise and fall of Butte is
told through the people that forged this
tightly-knit community: the miners and their
families, people who were initially immigrants from Ireland and England but who
eventually represented nations from across
Europe (signs in the mines were written in
16 different languages). Theirs is a tale of
hardship, fleeting joy, pride and community,
hard-won and ever in peril; a camaraderie
born of danger where every day in the
mines could be the last. An urban-industrial
island, surrounded by ranchland and wilderness, Butte was home to one of the largest
corporations in the world: the Anaconda
Copper Mining Company.

MASTERPIECE MYSTERY!
Grantchester, Season 2
8pm Sundays beginning March 27
The whiskey-drinking and jazz-loving vicar
Sidney Chambers (James Norton) returns
alongside his friend and veteran cop
Inspector Geordie Keating (Robson Green)
for a second season of crime solving in the
small country parish of Grantchester.
Returning cast members include Morven
Christie as Amanda Hopkins, Tom Austen
as Guy Hopkins, and Tessa Peake-Jones as
Sidney’s censorious, Bible-quoting housekeeper, Mrs. Maguire. Kacey Ainsworth
is back as Geordie’s long-suffering wife,
Cathy, a harried mother of four young children. Al Weaver reprises his role as novice
priest Leonard Finch, who stoically faces
the anti-gay hostility of the day.
The new season’s cases include a shocking
charge of sexual assault that turns into a
homicide investigation implicating a pillar of
the community; an apparent suicide from
the college spire that takes on Cold War
overtones; a confession to murder in which
the alleged victim is still very much alive; a
haunted stable with links to the Holocaust;
and more.

MASTERPIECE CLASSIC
Mr. Selfridge,
The Final Season
9pm Sundays beginning March 27
The clock nears closing time as mercantile genius Harry Selfridge faces creditors,
swindlers, mob bosses, irate relatives, and
spurned mistresses in the farewell season
of Mr. Selfridge. Since the premiere season
in 2013, Mr. Selfridge has wowed audiences
and critics alike, much as the original Harry
Gordon Selfridge did with his trend-setting, taboo-busting palace of commerce,
Selfridge & Co., which opened in 1909 on
London’s Oxford Street. Shopping has
never been the same since.
This season, follow the unpredictable arc of
Harry’s career to its thrilling climax, charting
the fate of the showman with the big heart,
shaky morals, and dogged belief that the
dice roll will save him—and the store—every
time. Making new trouble for Harry this
season are Jimmy Dillon, an Anglo-Indian
entrepreneur specializing in too-good-topass-up business deals; press magnate
Lord Wynnstay, who exploits Harry’s shocking private life to sell newspapers; and the
blonde bombshells of their era, Dolly sisters
Rosie and Jennie, American twin dancers
who appeal to Harry’s wicked streak.

Curious George Swings
Into Spring
One-hour special airs 8am & 3pm Monday, March 21 and Friday, March 25
In the middle of spring cleaning at the apartment building, some pipes burst, so the Doorman must send a reluctant Hundley off the country with George and the Man in the Big Yellow Hat. Hundley is forlorn, so George decides the mutt needs a case of spring fever. Try
as George might, he doesn’t succeed in infecting his friend. As a big day of hot-air balloon
races arrives, Hundley discovers his roots, and it just might lead to his having a good time
in spite of being homesick.

Did you know that with a matching gift you can sometimes double or even triple the power of your gift?
Your company may match your gift to MontanaPBS and increase the total amount of your contribution.
Here’s how it works
