THE BOYS’ BRIGADE
FOUNDERS DAY SERVICE
On October 27th, 2013 at 2:30pm
there will be a Boys’ Brigade Founders Day service at Burlington East
Presbyterian Church. All members of our congregation are welcome to
join us for this 130th Anniversary Service of the Boys’ Brigade. Please
contact George Rodgerson, Stephen Shields, and Denis Hird for more
information.
SUNDAY DRIVERS NEEDED
Recently we have received calls from members of
the community, as well as some of our own, in need of a ride to Church.
We are in the process of putting together a list of people within our
congregation who would be willing to be on the “On call for a Ride List”.
The requests for a ride would be processed through the office and a ride
arranged from the List of Volunteers. There would be some limitations on
ride request, such as – the call should come in to the office by Friday,
(perhaps 10:00 o’clock) and the match would be completed according to
our list, made up of your names as volunteer drivers. This does not mean it
would be every Sunday, but would be on some sort of rotation, dependent
upon the number of volunteers available. This project would come under
the Umbrella of the Pastoral Committee, so please call Beryl at home or
the office here and speak with Rinatha with any questions or to leave your
name. We would like to expand this service to include rides to our Church
for any special event, not just Sundays. Sooo, the lineup for being the first
to sign up will be by the Piano, today, after the service. Thanks for the
anticipated positive response to this request.

 The chart above provides both the year-to-date and monthof-September financial results. As reflected above,
September and year-to-date envelope givings are below
budget. Expenses are tracking higher than budget for a
net result of a year-to-date deficit of $8,153. One item
outstanding to reduce the deficit amount to $6,797.22
requires congregation’s approval of $1,365.00 for roof
repair expenses to be expensed from the Heritage Fund.
The Pulpit Supply credit of $2,625 was received and is
included in September’s results.
We look forward to your continuing support through the next
three months

Your Finance Committee
2013 October Report from the BEPC Session
~ Session's communication, to the congregation, of major items discussed
and major decisions made at each Session meeting. ~


the meeting was moderated by Rev. Curtis Bablitz.

It was reported to Session that George Rodgerson and Denis Hird are making
good progress on the plans for the Boys’ Brigade Founders Day service on
Sunday, October 27. More details about this service are in the bulletin.


for a congregational potluck dinner on Friday, November 15. Look for more
information on this in future Sunday bulletins.

Session approved a congregational meeting to be held on Sunday, November

Once again we are enjoying the beauty of God’s creation all around us as
the transition is made from Summer to Fall, and then from Fall to Winter.
We live in such a beautiful part of the country as the Autumn leaves fill the
trees with brilliant colors making the hills look like gigantic multi-colored
flowers! One of the great themes of the Bible is that we are to be a people
of Thanksgiving, not just one special day of the year, but as Christians we
are to be thankful on a daily basis.
If you were touched by the beautiful hymn “I need thee every hour” that
we sang this morning, you can follow the link below and share in an
acapella version of this hymn. The harmony in this video is all done by one
person. You will be amazed at how he sings this old time moving hymn 'I
Need Thee Every Hour' in twelve different ways.
