The Rebels have turned their
potential doom at Yavin into a
glorious victory, destroying the
Empire’s deadliest weapon. Horrified
by the destruction of Alderaan, and
given hope by the rebels’ victory, new
recruits have been flooding to the
Alliance’s cause. However, deep in
the Imperial Palace on Coruscant,
Emperor Palpatine is setting in
motion plans to crush the Rebellion
for ever.
The Yavin Legacy is a two-day
campaign event for Star Wars X-Wing
Miniatures game, in which you take
on the role of one of the key pilots
and characters of the Star Wars
universe and battle your way through
your own story of adventures and
clashes with opposing forces in the
Star Wars setting. The campaign
introduces a number of house rules
that alter the availability and rules of
some pilot and upgrade cards. In
conjunction with a mix of Cinematic,
Epic and a new Aces Squadron play
style at a variety of points values over
the weekend, The Yavin Legacy will
provide a truly unique gaming
experience.
The Northwest Gaming Centre
is a purpose-built wargaming centre
with space for over a hundred
gamers, with its own bar and café,
and is home to the excellent Element
Games hobby store.

team, whilst Plot

development of your
personal story over the
event.

Your Character
When you purchase a ticket for The
Yavin Legacy you will choose one
iconic character within the Star
Wars universe that you want to play
as during the day. Choose your
character carefully; as you will have
to field a pilot or crew card with the
chosen character’s name each
battle. More details on building your
lists can be found below.
Over the first four campaign games
you will have two games specifically
d e s i g n e d t o a dv a n c e y o u r
character’s individual storyline. In
each of these games you will have
the opportunity to earn Plot Points .
The outcome of each game, and the
number of Plot Points you earn has
a variety of effects in the game: they
affect your following storyline games
and can unlock rewards for you to
use in your later games, whether
storyline games or games where
you’re playing as the antagonist for
another player’s storyline game.
The fifth campaign game is the
concluding game, where each
character will face their nemesis in
a final battle. The player with the
most Plot Points going into game 5
will have the edge at the start of the
encounter.
There is a prize for the individual
who earns the most plot points over
the weekend.
Event Pack
Campaign games 1-4
and the Aces Squadron
games will allow
players
to
earn
Campaign Points for
their team. There are
5 types of campaign
points you can earn:
Protect, Destroy, Capture,
Infiltrate and Counter
Intelligence. As you earn
campaign points they will
have a variety of effects on the rest of
the campaign. More details can be
found in the Rules Pack.
Campaign games 1-4 will be a storyline
game for one player, but the opposing
team will have the chance to choose
which player will face them. Each
campaign game will allow certain types
of Campaign Points to be earned, but
each player can also gain bonus
Campaign Points of a certain type. As a
team you need to assign players to
each game who will be able to earn the
most Campaign Points.
There are prizes for every member of
the team that earns the most campaign
points, and a prize for each player that
earns the most campaign points within
their team.
Team Briefing
Before each game players get together
in the faction teams. Their teams will be
provided with a mission pack for the
turn, which includes the missions that
will be played during the following game
round. Some missions in the pack will
have to be completed by a particular
player, whilst other missions are open,
and can be given to any other member
of the team. Teams should discuss the
missions, and the assign available
players to each mission. When a player
has a set mission for a given round, this
will be an opportunity for them to earn
bonus plot points.
Proxy Ships and
Cards
This is a campaign event with an
emphasis on story over competitive
play. In addition there are a number of
new cards available for use at the
event, and an award for repaints and
modelling. As such the event will allow
the use of proxy cards and ships
provided:
Any proxy ship model must be
sufficiently different from another
existing available ship. So as to avoid
confusion. E.g. you can’t bring a
Firespray and say it’s a proxy
Decimator.
A proxy ship token (the thing that goes
in the base) must use an existing FFGproduced ship token so that the firing
arc is consistent. The name on the card
and ship icon do not need to match
the ship, but the stats do, so you
The
yavin legacy
will need to, say, cover the old values
with stickers to put on the new
values (although in most cases can
get away with using an existing ship
token). Where you use a named
pilots token as a proxy in a list where
you are flying the same pilot, use ID
tokens to differentiate as you would
with using multiple generics.
Proxy cards must be typed, and
include all the stats, costs, and rules.
The wording of any rules on the card
must not be changed. Cards do not
need to be presented on correctly
formatted backgrounds, but if you
wish to do so, there are excellent
websites available that will create
these for you.
What you will
need to bring
You must bring the following with you
on the day:
$ A collection of ships, pilot cards
and upgrade cards that you wish
to use during the event
$ X-Wing Dice
$ Damage deck
$ Movement templates
$ Shield and Action tokens
$ Any scenario tokens you have
(tracking, satellite, smuggler,
prey, prototype tokens, etc)
New Ships
If you have a ship or pilot you’d like to be able to run at this event – say you’ve got your own
scratch built Rogue Shadow and really want to use it in the game – please get in touch and let
me know. I am very happy to write new rules for these ships for you to be able to use them. I
will need them to fit into the setting canon or official “legends” for the time period ABY 1, so you
might be able to use the ship with a different pilot if the official pilot was dead in ABY 1, for
example – we’d just fudge it that their old ship has been found and restored. That said, there
are three important provisos that you need to be aware of:
$ The most important factor is the story – if I can’t fit it in I won’t allow it (hence there’s no EWings as these were a much later development). If it’s a ship that was developed after ABY
1 I may just disallow it – that’s not to say you can’t use the model, just find a different ship
from earlier in the canon/legends you can use it as a “counts-as” for.
$ The final rules will be written by me. You are willing to make suggestions for how you think
the ship should play, but I will have final say on the rules.
$ Give me plenty of time – I will want to play test your ship, so make sure I have opportunity
to do so in advance of the event.
$ As a final note on the issue: If you have any special requests please let me know, as soon
as you can, to give me chance to playtest the rules as much as possible before releasing
the information.
