THE MOTHER
I
n an attempt to shock,
someone once said
that all we know about God
is that she is black. The
one sure thing we can say
about God is that he/she
does not fit into a box. God
is greater than anything we
can ever imagine or understand.

new light. It means that we
can suddenly appreciate
the tender, life-giving, nursing side to God. These fem-

we let our minds be
stretched by thinking of
God as both a mother and
a father then we get twice
as much God for our money!

Cafod Emergency
Ethiopia Food Crisis Appeal.
This week we say farewell to our
Sisters from Cameroon.
They have been with us for the month of
June, following a course in preparation
for taking their final vows at the end of
July. They very much appreciated the
welcome they received in the parish and
enjoyed being involved in the parish activities.
A crippling drought in Ethiopia is affecting over
10 million people. Extreme weather shifts, due
to El Nino have caused severe droughts, leaving millions in need of emergency food.
400,000 children are already suffering from
malnutrition. Action is needed now to prevent a
far more terrible crisis.
The ceremony of final profession is on
the 30th July. Please keep Sisters Sophie, Marie Odette, Veronique and
Michele in your prayer.
