With multiple models offering different drive and slot configurations, a system can be tailored for your current
needs and upgraded as your business and storage requirements grow. Using the latest 14x magneto-optical
drives with 9.1 GB media, Plasmon’s 5.25-inch Optical Libraries offer the highest storage capacity at the lowest
cost per gigabyte.
The 5.25-inch media is impervious to the contaminants of the outside
world, making it virtually indestructible. It is encased in a durable
enclosure that protects it from dirt and scratches. This media is
offered with either Rewritable or WORM technology and is
rated to last more than 30 years.

Plasmon’s 5.25-inch Optical Libraries are an ideal
storage solution for data-intensive applications requiring nearline access speeds around the clock. Utilizing
new and improved 14x magneto-optical drive technology and support for 9.1GB media, these libraries offer
greater capacity, better data availability and increased
reliability over competing optical technologies. The
technology is best suited for fast and reliable data
access, data archiving and multi-user network
environments —— especially if a WORM solution is
needed. WORM media is unalterable and rated to last
30 years or more, making it the technology of choice for
long-term data archival.
Plasmon’s 5.25-inch Optical Libraries utilize nextgeneration technology to provide features and
functionality enhancements that set a new standard for
system reliability, availability and performance:
10-Slot Bulk Magazines: allows fast and easy import to
and export of media from the library one to ten pieces
at a time.

Stepper (Brushless) Motors: for maximum performance,

Plasmon’s 5.25-inch Optical Libraries offer a range of
options with disk slot counts ranging from 64 to 638,
storing from 580GB to 5.8 TB of data, respectively. Easy
field expansion provides significant increases in data
capacity to protect your technology investment.
Plasmon offers the industry’s widest range of products
with patented robotics and high-performance drive
technology. Plus, forward and backward media compatibility allows you to easily integrate a Plasmon
Library into your existing operation.
Hot Swappable Drives: allows the Library to remain online and fully functional should a drive need replacing.
Bar Code Scanner: provides state-of-the-art bar code
technology to manage media inventory for both internal and external data archival.
Robotics Auto-Calibration: automatically aligns the
robotics for reduced wear of mechanical and electrical
components, reduced contamination within the Library
and elimination of complex manual adjustments.
Open/Closed Loop Cooling: exhausts electronics heat
from the library and controls the media air temperature
without introducing contaminants to drive/media
system for superior data integrity.
Redundant Power Supplies: guarantees unimpeded
supply of power to the Library.
Remote Library Management: allows the remote query of
a Library’s status to further enhance library availability

Ultra Density Optical
(UDO), the next generation of
5.25-inch optical technology, will
significantly increase disk capacities
beyond the current 9.1 GB. UDO
will be introduced at 40GB per disk,
with a roadmap leading up to 120GB
per disk. Plasmon’s G-Series
automation technology has been
developed to optimally leverage the
advanced technology of U DO drives
and media.
