President’s Message
Welcome to Camelot, Front Row Centre's second
show of the 2007-2008 season. On behalf of all our
volunteers and members, a small portion of which
you will see today, I'd like to thank you for supporting
Community Theatre in Calgary. I hope that you will
enjoy the show that so many volunteer hours have
gone into and that, with your support, FRC can
continue to present shows that make all aspects of
the theatre – from in the office to on the stage to you
the audience - available for the community at large.

Dorothy is snatched up by a tornado from Kansas and wakes to find herself in a
wondrous land of talking scarecrows, tin men and cowardly lions. To find her
way home she will travel to the fantastic Emerald City and meet the mysterious
Wizard of Oz and the sinister Wicked Witch of the West. This family favourite
includes the songs Over The Rainbow, Munchkinland (Ding Dong! The
Witch Is Dead), If I Only Had A Brain, We're Off To See The Wizard
(Follow The Yellow Brick Road), The Jitterbug, and The Merry Old Land of
Oz.

Director’s Notes
T.H. White's timeless trilogy, "The Once and Future
King", is a tale of the possibility of realizing individual
truths beyond time-bound conventions. As such, our
marvellously talented cast portrays this story with
very realistic impetus, driving psychological
characterization with the unique advantage of
applying Spiral Dynamics (for more, please see “The
Colour of Character” at www.paintingsbyorder.com).
Based on “The Ill-Made Knight” in Book Three,
Guinevere is 42 by the time she fully yields to
Lancelot, and Mordred is in his mid 20's when he first
meets his father. The anachronism of knights in
armour, wrenched from the Medieval Ages and
squaring off at each other in the Dark, fashions our
rendition of Camelot too.
And still there is conjecture as to the actual who, what, where, and why of the
Arthurian legends. Arthur is said to have died in 537-9 a.d.. For current movie
buffs, that's Beowulf's time!
Director’s Thanks:
The huge production team and cast and musicians that collaborated to put on a
show of this scope cannot be given enough thanks. It has been a great pleasure
to work with all. The countless hours that go unseen in the exceptional work of
Pat, Sherry, Tim, Lynda, Margaret, Faith, Frank, Wilma, Joanne, Andrea, Karen,
Patrice, Les, Joey, Darren, Pasqualina, Dennis, Gene, Bill, Deb, Susan, Paul,
Christine, Luke, Angela, and Caren, along with Cathy, Derek, Cameron, John,
Cat, Erin, J.P., Janet, and marvellous Mary Anne amongst so many more, would
have to include every name in the program, one and all.
Please check out ALL the names. While this great cast and amazing musicians are
visible to you, it is this fabulous production crew who should come in for the
encore. What amazing dedication and care and talent! My deepest thanks to
each! We do indeed make memories worth having!
Richard Michelle-Pentelbury – January 2008
Richard is the Resident Director for Morpheus Theatre. He recently performed as Morrie in
the multiple award winning show “Tuesdays with Morrie”, and for Front Row Centre directed
the award winning shows, “Evita” and “Jesus Christ Superstar”. His painting of Camelot
graces our cover and poster, and is available to you at www.paintingsbyorder.com
Robert Goulet
The cast and crew of Camelot wish to dedicate our
presentation to the memory of Robert Goulet (19332007), who appeared in three separate Broadway
runs, as King Arthur in 1975, again as King Arthur in
1992-1994 and as Sir Lancelot from 1960-62.
His talent and rich voice is missed.

The Court of Camelot
Richard Heyman (Arthur)
Richard is delighted to be appearing again with Front Row Centre Players. It's
good to be the King with so many wonderful courtiers on stage with him. His
last two appearances with FRC were as Emile DeBecque in “South Pacific” and
Colonel Juan Peron in “Evita”.
Christine Horne (Guenevere)
Every little girl wants to grow up and be a princess or even better, the queen.
I’m thrilled to be living the dream opposite such wonderful leading men and
the most beautiful and dashing court in any kingdom. Favourite credits for
FRC include Audrey in “Little Shop of Horrors”, Eva Peron in “Evita”, and Kate
in “Kiss Me Kate”. Special thanks to Richard M.P. and his production crew
extraordinaire, and to Terry and my boys, my real-life knights in shining
armour.
James Noonan (Lancelot)
James is thrilled to be part of this amazing cast and company. This is his
second FRC show and second in Calgary. James comes to us from London
Ontario where he was involved in many theatrical adventures including acting,
directing and producing over 50 shows. He is President of Simply Theatre, a
company he co-founded in Ontario with his loving fiancé Karen.
Mike Johnson (King Pellinore)
What? What? I couldn't have had more fun in rehearsals preparing for Camelot
than I have had in this show. It has been amazing watching the growth of
each person as this show has progressed. Thanks Richard, for helping us to
bring out the true characters within us.
Justin Crowe (Mordred)
Justin has previously performed in “Oklahoma” as Curly McLain in 2005 and
2006, as Tulsa in “Gypsy”, 2006; and as Artie Mann in “Look Whose
Laughing”, 2004 and is now appearing as Mordred in Camelot. Justin is proud
and honoured to be working with such a talented group of people. He hopes
you enjoy watching the show as much as we enjoy putting it on. Cheers
Levon Yon (Mordred)
Levon is so lucky and honoured to have joined this extremely talented cast
and crew late in the game. This is his sixth show with FRC. He's been fortunate
enough to play Judas in JCS, the Leading Player in “Pippin”, Che in “Evita”, and
Seymour Krelbourn in “Little Shop of Horrors”.
Tim Elliott (Merlin)
Tim is thrilled to be working again with Richard, and with a talented cast and
crew of old friends and new that bring so much magic to this musical that
Merlin almost seems superfluous. Tim has previously been seen in Morpheus’
“Yeomen of the Guard” and FRC’s “Oklahoma”.
Naomi Williams (Nimue)
Naomi is thrilled that her first musical in Calgary is Camelot. She holds a
BMus in Voice Performance from Wilfrid Laurier University, and hails from
Regina, Sask. She is excited to be playing Mabel in the upcoming Morpheus
Theatre production of “The Pirates of Penzance”.
Sherry West (Morgan La Fey)
Sherry West's favourite productions have been "Jesus Christ, Superstar!" , "My
Fair Lady", " Bye, Bye, Birdie!" , "Fiddler on the Roof", "Baby", "Curse of the
Werewolf", "A New Brain", "A Chorus Line". As always, it is a pleasure to
work again with Front Row Centre, and in particular Richard MichellePentelbury and his most excellent production team.
Nicolas Pacchiano (Squire Dap)
Nicolas is very excited to be in his first show with Front Row Centre. Nicki has
been with the Calgary Boys Choir for two years, and has also attended the
Victoria Conservatory of Music.
Mike Smith (Tom)
Mike is so happy to be an actor. He has just finished playing Dillon in “To Kill
a Mockingbird” before coming into the role of Tom in Camelot. He thanks
everyone profusely.
Tanner Yzerman (Page)
Tanner is thrilled to work with a great cast like this. He has previously been
seen in “No Sex Please, We’re British”, “Evita”, “Pippin” and many others. This
is his fourth show under the directorship of Richard Michelle-Pentlebury.
The Knights of the RoundTable
Heimen Van Essen (Sir Dinadan)
Heimen – currently appearing in his 7th production, Heimen is fulfilling his life
long dream to be a Knight in Shining Armor. What with the jousting and the
sword fighting, the hacking and the slashing, the smashing and the mashing,
the cracking of skulls and burning of small towns, the… Oh. Uh. Sorry –
let’s just say it’s been an honour to sit and serve the round table of Camelot.
David Grantham (Knight Bliant/The Herald)
David, the Herald, appreciates the warm welcome he's received into this his
first FRC show. Sure, he does architecture and animation, and he's played
Francis Bacon and even assistant directed a show at Vertigo - but he's
probably most proud of his bachelor's degree in clowning.
David Young (Knight Clarius)
David is glad to be back in an FRC show – and what a great show and cast.
Being a knight is a natural progression from his previous roles as policeman
and soldier. Who knows what’s next?
Dennis Daly (Knight Colgrevance)
Dennis is thrilled to be in such a big show again, and he found that working
on the shields with his brother Eric took him back 40 years. Thanks to all
who coached me and my daughter, Kira, through all of this.
Randy Young (Knight Lionel)
Randy most recently sang in the chorus of Morpheus Theatre’s “Iolanthe”. He
is enjoying learning to Tango, and picking up new foreign languages.
Randy’s words to live by: “Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a dream, there is
only right now."
Gene Manason (Knight Guilliam)
As a first time performer in live theatre productions this was a bit of a
stretch. He met many talented people and made new friends in an exciting
field and found a whole new rewarding dimension of himself. One thing it has
taught him is that life is always adding new experiences – Just Enjoy.
Don Sylvestre (Sir Sagramore)
Don was born in Windsor Ont., and his love of theatre goes back to “The
Kawartha Summer Festival”, and ”Lindsay Little Theatre” in Ontario in the
1970’s. He has been in the Calgary area since 1978 and has worked in
several productions of the Calgary Opera as well as recently appearing in
Morpheus Theatre’s productions of Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Iolanthe” and “HMS
Pinafore”.
The Ladies of the Court
Lynn Rowley (1st Lady in Waiting)
Lynn is delighted to join her FRC friends in both the cast and the crew for this
production of Camelot. This one’s for you Robert. Thanks for the memories.
Ania Hamel (2nd Lady in Waiting)
Ania is thrilled to make her debut in theatre with such an enormously
talented group of people. She would like to thank the cast and crew for the
unforgettable experience, and would like to thank Richard, Justin, Ela and
Olivier in particular for their unending support and patience.
Terri Thompson (Lady Anne)
Terri is thrilled to be a part of such a wonderful creative team. This is her
second show with FRC, having previously been seen in “Evita”. She is most
thankful for the love and support of her hubby Neil and her family.
Suzanne Berg (Chorus)
Suzanne Berg is an aspiring Disney Princess and Broadway Actor. She is
delighted to be a part of such an amazing cast and can’t thank Richard and
the crew enough for making her a part of the magic. Good Bye Robert
Goulet.
Emily Bontje (Chorus)
Emily is a student at the University of Calgary, a perfect daughter, a
Starbucks Barista, an avid thespian, a singer in an Afro-Cuban ensemble, and
in her spare time – well, she just doesn’t know what that is. Lucky all her
Camelotians are such fantastic people. Oh – and thanks mom!
Kira Daly (Chorus)
This is Kira’s 7th show, and she is thrilled to be working with all of her friends
again. She hopes you enjoy watching the show as much as she has enjoyed
working in it.
Gina Damberger (Chorus)
This is Gina's second show with FRC and she is pleased to have the
opportunity to return to the world of musical theatre, something her
involvement with her other theatre group, Scorpio Theatre, doesn't
usually allow.
Rachel Erickson (Chorus)
Rachel, a student at the U of C, loves to perform. Be it as Cinderella in
Centennial High School's production “Into the Woods”, playing in a band,
doing Ukrainian Dancing or performing with Front Row Centre Players. She
hopes to continue this pattern for many years to come.
Isabella Pacchiano (Chorus)
Isabella has been singing and dancing ever since she can remember, and has
been a member of the Young Canadians for two years. During the summer
of 2007 she studied at the Victoria Conservatory of Music. She is very
excited to do this amazing show with Front Row Centre.
Annie Pentney (Chorus)
Annie is having such a wonderful time dancing and singing here in Camelot.
Kelsey Ranshaw (Chorus)
Kelsey has been dancing in ballet and other dance forms for 14 years and has
been in love with the stage all her life. She is passionate about all types of
theatre and is "tres stoked" to finally be back in a cast and to be a part of her
first community production. She recently turned 18, is taking a year off and
plans to attend theatre school in the fall. She wishes to thank everyone she
knows who came to see the show.
Christine Reynolds (Chorus)
Camelot is Christine's first production with Front Row Centre. She is having
an amazing experience, getting to know and work with such incredible and
talented people! She really hopes the audience enjoys watching the show, as
much as she has enjoyed being a part of this production!
Amy Sparrow (Chorus)
Amy Sparrow, first talent-spotted in a shopping mall and invited to join Evita
by the director, Richard, is now a Centennial High School student and
delighted to be in Camelot too. Mom, cast, and crew, thanks for love and
patience.
Hannah Unterschultz (Chorus)
This is Hannah’s first show with FRC, and right from the start they’ve
welcomed her with open arms. Thanks so much to the incredible cast and
crew for making this show one to remember. Other credits “Robyn Hood”,
and “Goldilocks and the X-mas Bears” with Story book and “Yeomen of the
Guard” with Morpheus.
Rosemary Van Dyk (Chorus)
Rosemary is grateful for the knights who spent many hours practicing their
sword fighting skills; it was most reassuring during the battle scene! Thanks
to everyone in the cast for their endless enthusiasm and support.
Erin Ward (Chorus)
Erin is pumped to be back in another show with FRC. Currently studying at
Mount Royal, Erin is glad to take a break from the books to tra la la libelously
on stage this January with such an amazing cast. She would like to thank her
roommates, friends and family for all their support, along with the whole cast
and crew for being the talented dynamic family you can always find at FRC.

Community Arts Centre Replacement
Many of the community theatre companies in Calgary are facing a housing crisis. The
Community Arts Centre is rehearsal space and home for FRC, Storybook, Morpheus,
Cappuccino and many other theatre companies. We will lose the Community Arts Centre
possibly as soon as spring 2009 as the Currie Barracks site redevelopment plans progress.
Front Row Centre, partnered with Storybook Theatre and Morpheus Theatre, are actively
developing options for a new shared space and your support can help us immensely.
We have instituted a $2 ticket surcharge effective with Camelot and have begun running a
50-50 draw during our shows to raise funds to either build a new facility or renovate an
existing building.
If you are interested in donating either your invaluable volunteer time, or if you have a spare
40,000sq foot building you aren’t using, please contact us at [email protected] or by
phone at 403-246-8505.

FRC Mission Statement
Front Row Centre Players Society, Calgary's premier community musical theatre
group, is a charitable organization dedicated to making musical theatre
experiences available to as many people as possible - affording an outlet for
creative expression on stage and behind the scenes. Our auditions are always
open to the public, announced through Calgary's free media.
Everyone
associated with the company is a volunteer.
Our only pre-requisite for
participation is enthusiasm.
FRC is always looking for new members and friends, especially backstage,
producing and Front of House. Put those creative talents to good use. You don’t
have to be an expert... just willing and able. Set construction, painting, lights,
sound, props, costumes, make up, ticket sales, and even in front of the bright
lights on stage.
