I have written this before, but it is time to put our cars away. Here is something I found on the Internet. Step-by step guide to winterizing your car 1. Give the vehicle a good wash/wax 2. Fill the fuel tank and add fuel stabilizer. This will help moisture from forming in the tank. Run the car until warm to blend the stabilizer with the fuel 3. Change the oil and filter 4. Check the antifreeze 5. Add air to the tires 6. To keep mice out put a plastic bag over the air cleaner and exhaust pipe or insert steel wook in the tailpipe 7. Place mothballs and or dryer sheets in the trunk, engine compartment, and interior 8. For storage of the battery do one of the following options. Remove the battery and store in a warm area but not on the concrete floor or leave the battery inside the car and hook up a battery tender on it. continued on page 4 PONTIAC-OAKLAND Club International The World’s Largest ALL-PONTIAC CLUB $35 Annual Membership (US) (Canadian $37 • Foreign $46) $20 E-Membership • 74 Page Monthly Magazine Page 2 • FREE Member Advertising • Local Chapters –Nationwide • Tech Advisors/Ref. A treasurer’s report was given and accepted. Old Business GM Show - we received a check from this year’s show. New Business Valley Show - we need a good turnout; Valley has been a good supporter of our club. We have fliers, ballots and dash cards all done. Linda has the trophies. Don’t forget to bring your food shelf donations. Doug talked about the Drive for Kids, it starts in Mounds Park in St. Paul and cost is $45. More info is supposed to be on Autoswalk.com. Rusty is having his charity poker run again this year, I received my info from the Facebook event page. Meanwhile... Back at the Pontiac Ranch I enjoyed the Valley Show, thanks to the Valley dealership and everyone who participated and helped out, I think Dave B. would have been proud! It will be great to carry on the tradition with the fall BBQ/car show. Enjoy the fall weather while you can the leaves are blowing off the trees fast! Tomahawk Chapter’s Winter Banquet - ideas can be submitted now. Locations should be for 28 to 30 people that usually attend. Page 3 Paul Bergstrom, Tomatalk Editor President’s Message Membership Meeting (continued from page 2) In the spring before using the car: 1. Charge the battery fully 2. Inspect the car for any mice damage 3. Remove the plastic bag over the air cleaner and uncover the tail pipes 4. Check for any leaks such as brake lines 5. Reduce the tire pressure to the correct amount 6. Warm the car up 7. Lastly and most importantly do a good burnout to let your neighbors know it is spring and you’re back! I hope the Valley Show went on without any glitches. Sorry I missed it. I hope to see everyone at our October meeting in Roseville. You just have to be a member, and it is free to sign up - learn more at: wildaboutcarsonline.com Page 8 Tomahawk Chapter (e)Mail Bag E-mail from: Bill Nawrot, <[email protected]> Subject: 1982 POCI Convention Hi Paul, I figured you would be a good one to ask. Do you still have records of the cars entered in the 1982 POCI Convention that was in Minnesota? I was there and a 1972 LeMans / GTO convertible parked next to me. To make a long story short Pontiac said they never made a 1972 GTO convertible. I have a picture of the window sticker, but PHS says it's not a GTO. I'm trying to find the car or owner, he was from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Thanks, Bill Nawrot Please email Bill if you have any ideas or recollection of this ‘72 GTO that was at the 1982 POCI Convention here in Minnesota. Bill’s email is: [email protected] For more information on, check out this Performance Years Forum link: http://forums.performanceyears.com/forums/showthread. php?t=703952 Page 9 Bonnie Down Under Hi Paul, I am the secretary of the Pontiac Car Club of SA Australia. About 3 years ago I imported a 1966 4-door hardtop Bonneville from Minnesota to Australia. It was an original 2-owner car, so I got in touch with the original owner who had it till 2004. His name is Gary Traverse and I am in regular email contact with the 76 year old. He told me he was a founding member of POCI’s Tomahawk Chapter 13. He sent me some pictures of the car at the Northtown car show and on the cover of your Tomatalk newsletter. I have attached a pic of the ‘ol girl. Still a factory Original Survivor, original paint, body and interior and all running gear. 39,000 miles and runs and smells like she came off the floor yesterday. Great website, will keep it on my list. Best regards, Editor’s note: I remember having my ‘69 GTO Judge next to Gary’s ‘66 Bonnie at some of our shows in the 1980s!
