2011 Kansas City Bikers for Babies® Sunday, September 18th Kansas Speedway I-70 and 110th Street • Kansas City, KS BABY BOULEVARD Johnny Dare of The Johnny Dare Morning Show Bikers for Babies® Honorary Chairman BikersForBabiesKC.org Official March of Dimes Bikers for Babies Presented by Maggie Swearingen, 2011 Kansas City March of Dimes Ambassador Despite careful monitoring during her next pregnancy, Bridget again developed HELLP Syndrome and Eclampsia and Maggie was born premature at 27 weeks, weighing 2 lbs 1 oz. Maggie spent her first month of life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) with feeding tubes, PICC lines and IVs inserted in her tiny body helping her stay alive. On September 18, visit Baby Boulevard to read about hundreds of local babies whose first days were their hardest. Stop by the March of Dimes mission area (Garage C) to learn why it is so important for you to ride and contribute to help save babies’ lives. Kansas City Bikers for Babies® began in 1995 with 130 riders raising $3,000. In 2010, 6,200 riders raised $715,000, bringing the 16-year event total to $5.1 million raised locally. Each year in the United States, more than half a million babies are born prematurely. More than 120,000 others are born with birth defects. Many don’t make it to their first birthday.
