Applicants seeking a marriage license must appear together in
the office of Gregory J. Smith Recorder/County Clerk, County of
San Diego, complete an application and pay the $50 license
fee. The application is available online at: www.sdarcc.com. In
addition to completing the application, you must also show a valid government issued photo identification card or passport. The
document must show your date of birth and your full legal name
(no abbreviations or initials). A copy of your birth certificate is
also handy to take along, but is not required. Three locations of
the Recorder/County Clerk’s office that process marriage licenses
are open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
by appointment only.

South Beach: South of the Hotel del Coronado. South of the Avenida del Sol beach
access and north of the Avenida Lunar beach access.
Central Beach: Between the main lifeguard tower and the Hotel del Coronado. The
stairs leading to the beach just north of the Hotel del Coronado parking area marks the
end of the hotel property.
North Beach: North of the main lifeguard tower and ends at Dog Beach.

ermits are required for wedding
ceremonies held on City of Coronado property, such as parks and
beaches. The permit application
may be downloaded at www.coronado.
ca.us on the recreation services page
or call the City of Coronado Recreation
Department at (619) 522-7342.
1. Permits are required for groups of
more than 25 people. Groups larger
than 100 persons require special
consideration for locations other than
the beach venues. Popular outdoor
ceremony locations in Coronado are
Centennial Park, Spreckels Park, and
the Main Beach.
2. Persons requesting use of a City facility are required to pay applicable
rental fees and provide the City
with a Certificate of Insurance naming the City additionally insured for
bodily injury and property damage,
along with an Additional Insured
Endorsement. The amount required
is $1,000,000 for any event. The
Certificate of Insurance will not be
accepted unless it states all the correct information. The applicant must
sign a Hold Harmless Agreement.
The City of Coronado is able to
provide you with the Special Event
Liability insurance coverage. Cost
is determined by type of event and
number of participants. Please call
the City of Coronado Recreation
Department at (619) 522-7342 for
more information.
3. Event will be tentatively scheduled
after receipt of application, proof
of Residency (to qualify for Resident
Rates) and a $25.00 application
fee.

4. Event will be firmed only after receipt
of the following:
a) Signed contract
b) Cleaning/damage deposit
c) 50% of the rental fee
d) Certificate of Insurance with the additional insured endorsement (or payment to purchase insurance through
the City).
e) Event equipment (such as tents, canopies, arbors, jump houses or entertainment centers) must be provided
through a company holding a Coronado business license. A copy of the
rental contract must be submitted 5
days prior to the date of the event.

5. Events can be held between 9:00
a.m. and 7:00 p.m.
6. Centennial Park venue is available
for wedding ceremonies only, no
receptions.
7. Applications must be submitted a
minimum of 10 working days in
advance and will be accepted no
more than 18 months (24 months
for Coronado Residents) prior to the
event. Deposits and insurance fees
should be made payable to the City
of Coronado and may be mailed
to: Coronado Recreation Services,
1845 Strand Way, Coronado, CA
92118. If you prefer, you may use
your VISA or MasterCard.
8. Regulations:
• Permits are not allowed on holidays or
holiday weekends.
• No alcohol is allowed on any of the
parks or beaches.
• No vehicles allowed on turf or sand.
• No amplified music. Radios are allowed so long as music can not be
heard outside of the immediate area.
• Curfew at the Beach and Sunset Park
is from 11:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.
• Curfew at Glorietta Bay Park is from
11:00 p.m. - 5:00 a.m.
• Parking Ordinance. No Parking on
the 100 and 200 blocks of
Ocean Boulevard from 11:00 p.m. 4:00 a.m.
• Stakes are not allowed to be used in
any parks due to irrigation system.
• All tents must be free standing.
• Tents larger than 225 sq. ft. require
a building permit from the City of
Coronado, Community Development
Department at (619) 522-7326.
• No areas can be roped off in any
manner.
• Jump houses or entertainment activities
will be limited to one activity and one
generator only.
• There are six (6) public volleyball
courts at Central Beach. A minimum
of four (4) courts must remain available to the public.
• Beach events of 100 or more require
additional lifeguard services. Payment
for the extra lifeguards is due prior to
your event.
• A $25.00 administrative fee will be
held on all cancellations.
