Chapter 3
Chapter 3 is all about Pipes. From fully-open & loud
race pipes, to pipes that make your V-Twin to a
whispering EU approved motorcycle. Zodiac
represents the biggest names in the industry. Names
like SuperTrapp, Kerker, BSL, Hooker, Cycle Shack,
Sebring, Jardine and S&S can be found in this section.

SUPERTRAPP MEGAPHONE SERIES 2-INTO-1
SYSTEMS
SuperTrapp exhaust systems pack more Horsepower with less weight.
Provides both wave and outlet antireversionary tuning capabilities,
that boost the power over the entire RPM range. The unique
SuperTrapp pipe design features an adjustable 4" disc system at the
end. Adding discs increases the size of the exhaust opening and
reduces the back pressure. Lowering the number of discs used,
reduces the exhaust gas outlet and decreases the noise. The ability
to easily remove or add discs enables the rider to wave tune the
system for maximum power from "Within legal noise standard" to
the "Roaring Thunder" of a Drag Racer. These exhaust systems are
available in Stainless Steel in either a brushed satin "racers look" or
a highly polished finish. For Sportster models there is also a chrome
plated mild steel version available. Exhausts bolt to the stock
mounting points. SuperTrapp claims, if the carburetor is properly rejetted, an increase of 10 Horsepower over the stock system.
SuperTrapp exhaust systems are recommended by almost every highperformance engine builder and are used exclusively by the factory
racing team. Available in complete sets or in header pipes only.

SuperTrapp claims these new 2-into-1 PowerPipes outperform all
other 2-into-1 systems on the market. Tested in dyno shootouts and
on the racetrack, SuperMegs have proven to be the best performing
exhaust for these models. Features SuperTrapp’s famous tuneable

SUPERTRAPP XR STYLE 2-INTO-2 FOR SPORTSTER
MODELS
Following the great styling of the 2 into 2 exhaust system found on
the XR 750 factory racers, SuperTrapp designed this exhaust system
for Evolution Sportsters. Although specifically designed for the
1993 dirt track series, it is totally streetable as well. Dyno testing on
a stock 883 (rejetted and different ignition module) showed a peak
power increase of eight Horsepower!!! Installation on modified
Sportsters (Big- Bore, cams, carburetor, head work, etc.) and the use
of up-to 28 discs will yield an even more dramatic power increase.
This system is supplied with twelve discs per megaphone and comes
complete with 2.5" diameter reverse-cone racing cores. As a note,
even though we all know our Harley/SuperTrapp customers love the
roaring thunder of their motorcycles, the use of 15 to 28 discs and/or
the open racing style end cap will make this system louder than other
SuperTrapp Megaphone-style systems.

SUPERTRAPP 2-INTO-2 TUNABLE MEGAPHONE
SYSTEM FOR XR1200
With years of flat track experience and field testing SuperTrapp
developed these 2-into-2 Megaphone Series for XR1200. These race
inspired performance exhausts are manufactured from stainless steel,
with brushed finish. These Megaphone Series incorporate the 4"
tunable discs, 20-disc pack included for each muffler.Adding 4" discs
allows the rider to increase horsepower, exhaust tone and flow.
Removing discs allows the rider to reduce sound and increase lowend torque. This lightweight exhaust weighs less than half of the
stock system.The new XR 1200 system by SuperTrapp sounds as great
as it performs. Gain 10% horsepower and torque (with 16 discs
installed) through the mid power range and a heavy rumbled thunder
sound compliment the sporty and aggressive look of your XR1200.

SUPERTRAPP LOW ROLLER EXHAUST FOR SOFTAIL
A sleek rolling wave style 2 into 1 exhaust system is a beautifully
sculpted work of art. the long and low flowing and swept look of this
exhaust accentuates the line of your bike. Features a three-piece
heatshield set that protects the rider and keeps the chrome looking
showroom new. Has1 3/4” (4.5 cm) diameter headpipes that flow
into a 2 1/2” (63.5 mm) collector into the 3 1/2” (almost 9 cm) curved
muffler body. The Low Roller comes standard with a sleek chromed
billet aluminum end cap, optional end caps can be found elsewhere
in this catalog. Headers are equipped with O2 sensor bosses for
use on 2007 and later models, these are plugged of for use on
pre-2007 models.

SUPERTRAPP EXHAUST SYSTEM FOR SHOVELHEAD
This 2-into-1 exhaust system fits all 1971 thru 1984 FX models with
Shovelhead engines. The unique 4" disc system at the end of the
exhaust gives you the opportunity to wave-tune your Shovelhead
engine to get maximum Horsepower. Each system comes with a special
mounting bracket and heat shield for the rear pipe. Can also be used
on kick start equipped motors, if the late-style fold-out kick arm (ZPN
290313) is used, or if the kick starter shaft is replaced by an extra long
shaft (ZPN 235845). Available in chrome or polished finish.

versus a full system and give your bike a significant increase in

Designed with Original Equipment Styling and modern SuperTrapp
technology, SuperTrapp promises these slip-on mufflers will give an
increase of 6 to 9 Horsepower over the stock mufflers. The exclusive
SuperTrapp adjustable disc system is contained within the 3 1/2"
muffler body and is accessible through the removable end caps.
Optional caps are available. Each muffler comes with 12 discs installed

SUPERTRAPP FAT SHOT SLIP-ON MUFFLERS FOR
TOURING MODELS
SuperTrapp Fat Shot slip-on mufflers are 3.5" (9 cm) diameter, fully
chrome plated that flare out to a 4" (10 cm) slash cut end. They
feature straight-thru 2" (5.1 cm) diameter, pillow-pack wrapped
performance cores with SuperTrapp's tunable disc system. By
adjusting the number of discs, these new FatShots slip-ons have the
ability to be the quietest performance muffler out there with a richer
stock level sound, but enhanced performance. It performs better than
stock in a sound compliant configuration. If you want to kick it up a
notch, installing the recommended 12 discs sets the stage for
maximum power. In this configuration, FatShots slip-ons provide a
15% hp gain and a 12% torque gain over stock, proving your exhaust
does not have to be loud to make power. These slip-ons truly
demonstrate the performance and customization that a tunable
exhaust has to offer. Adding 4" discs will increase the horsepower,
exhaust tone and flow. Subtracting 4" discs will reduce the sound and
increase low-end torque.
FatShots slip-ons come complete with twenty-four 4" discs and all
of the necessary hardware and mounting instructions, so you can get
back on the road in no time. Works great on both stock and Big Bore
engines and bolt straight on to your stock headers. Sold in pairs.

EXHAUST SYSTEMS BY SUPERTRAPP
SuperTrapp Industries developed an exhaust system that complies
with the European standards for noise and emission and still adds
extra Horsepower to your Harley-Davidson. We have to admit it was
not easy. Specially since we wanted to retain the great looks of
SuperTrapp’s High Performance 2-into-1 Systems. They re-designed
the performance proven 4" disc muffler giving it extra volume and
added an extra long internal baffle. The baffle is packed in a special
non-aging ceramic, noise absorbing material and has the patented
“Disc pack” at the end. They ended up with an exhaust system that
still shows a considerable gain of Horsepower over the stock system,
yet will meet all EU noise and emission standards. Systems are
available in either Stainless Steel with a brushed satin or highly
polished finish as well as steel version with a beautiful Chrome plated
finish.All systems come complete with all necessary hardware. Header
pipes are separately available.

race proven design of the XR750 racing system and converted it to
fit your street-going machine. Now you can combine maximum

SUPERTRAPP 2-INTO-2 FAT DUALS FOR 1984 TO PRESENT
SOFTAIL
SuperTrapp's Fat Dual 2-into-2 systems feature 1.75" primary head
pipes, completely covered by full length 2.5" heat shields. The
staggered fitted cylindrical muffler bodies are 3.5" in diameter.
Grooved end caps are included with these Fat Duals 2-into-2 systems.
The end caps are removable and can be replaced by all SE Series and
Kerker Slip-On end caps. This means that riders have the luxury to
choose from 11 different styles of end cap. Fat Duals weigh 10% less
than stock exhaust. Headers are equipped with O2 sensor ports and
come with plugs to close them when fitted on models without
O2 sensors. Fit all 1984 to present Softail models, except FXCW Rocker
and FXCWC Rocker Custom.

SUPERTRAPP "V-5"
2-INTO-1 SLIP-ON
The "V-5" is a chrome plated SuperTrapp 2-into-1 slip-on muffler
that provides the classic SuperTrapp performance to the V-Rod. The
complete kit weighs in at 12 lbs., which is a whopping 21 lbs. lighter
than the stock system. It comes with a massive triple chrome plated
5" external disc stainless muffler, complete with billet aluminum
TrappCap and a collector pipe with heat shield to connect the muffler
to your stock headers. The system adds a distinctive, unique look to
the V-Rod. Collector pipe and heatshield are triple Chrome plated.The

Note: Verify that the ECU in your bike matches the model year of your
bike. Harley-Davidson has issued a bulletin stating that anyone
needing to replace the stock ECU on 2001 thru 2004 FLH/FLT series
models, 2002 thru 2004 Softails or 2002 thru 2004 Dyna's will be
supplied with a 2005 model year ECU. Because of this, when choosing
your application, it's important to know if the ECU on your motorcycle
is the original ECU or a replacement. Check your ECU by removing
the two bolts and look at the part number stamped on the backside.
If the number reads (32534-05) you have a 2005 ECU, any other part
number indicates that your motorcycle is equipped with the original
ECU. Choosing the wrong application will result in poor performance,
as well as risking engine damage.

Hooker Troublemakers are radius style pipes with a stepped, internal
head pipe design. They are 2 1/2" in diameter and feature trick onepiece heat shields with no ugly joints, construction seams or bluing.
From the muffler back these shields wrap 360 degrees and look great
from both sides of the bike. These pipes include mounting bracket,
performance baffles that deliver a deep rumble, chrome head flanges

HOOKER HEADERS "STEP TUNED" EXHAUST
SYSTEMS
The guys at Hooker Headers understand what it is all about.They are
the only exhaust manufacturer that offers a race tuned system that
is specifically designed for use with big C.I. engines. These system
not only look great but Hooker also promise they work. They claim
an increase in Horsepower and torque over systems that are designed
for stock C.I. engines. An increase in C.I. of your engine also means
an increase in exhaust gas.The improved internal flow of the Hooker's
Big Inch systems takes care of the increased volume of exhaust gas
and keeps the correct back pressure in the system. Another very
important feature of the Hooker Headers is the step tuned header
pipes. Stepped header pipes are new in the Harley aftermarket but
not new in the Harley racing scene. Stepped header pipes have been
used on 200+ miles per hour Drag-Racing Harley's for many years.
The stepped increase in the header pipe diameter allows the exhaust
gas to expand during the travel in the headers pipe, which increases
the gas flow drastically. This assures there is no burned exhaust gas
left in the combustion chamber thus the whole combustion chamber
and cylinder volume can receive the highest fill-grade possible of the
fresh fuel/air mixture.
Other features of Hooker's “Step Tuned” exhaust systems are:

BSL EXHAUST SYSTEMS
BSL claims their exhaust systems provide perfection in tuning and
horsepower, as well as sound and looks. Headers are manufactured
from 2 mm thick stainless steel. Because of a well-guarded fabrication
process BSL guarantees top quality. Each and every single pipe and
bend is individually mounted, welded and checked. The welding
process includes the filling of the pipe with a gas under extreme low
pressure.This prevents any irregularities in the inner exhaust surface
during the welding. After a very complicated 12-step preparation
process of grinding and polishing, the pipes are then almost finished.
Mufflers are manufactured from 1.5 mm thick one piece round tubing
and have received the same grinding and polishing treatment. All in
all the entire process promises for quality exhaust systems, which can
be TÜV equipped on demand, to meet European noise and emission
standards.
BSL RAINBOW DOWN UNDER STAINLESS STEEL
DRAG PIPES
The simple swept down design turns the exhaust nozzle away from
the bike.This gives unrestricted sound and airflow, as well as a special
look. These custom style exhausts are designed for use on Evolution

Back to basic's, the header and pipes for the Blaster are made from
one solid piece of 2" wide tubing. Like all BSL exhaust systems the
pipes are brought up to shape by an individual bending process,
hereby decreasing the chance of nasty creases and folds in the corners.
Therefore there is no need to grind away the wrinkled metal in the
bend, and the thickness is not altered anywhere in the pipe.

BSL EURO 3 APPROVED HOT SHOT PIPES
The BSL Hot Shot pipes for Evolution and Twin Cam Big Twins are
made of 2 mm thick, high-grade stainless steel 2 3/4" (70 mm) tubing.
Each model is put in its own intended mold for accurate fitment and
the welding process includes the filling of the pipe with a gas under
extreme low pressure to prevent any irregularities. After the pipes
have been welded, the bents are annealed to relief any stress. They
are then hand inspected and prepared for polishing in an 8 step
grinding and sanding process. Finally, another 4 step polishing
process, which involves different polishing pastes and polishing discs,
gives the pipes a mirror shine finish. "Back to the roots" styling, with
the latest technological standards to meet the strict European
regulation. The kits come in a Euro 3 and a race version. The Euro
3 version has the patented 2 catalytic inserts and a baffle in each
header to comply with the current European noise and emission
standards. The non-Euro 3 race version has less restricting baffles
and no catalytic converters for more horsepower and louder rumble.
Race inserts are separately available and fit all types type Hot Shot

Harley introduced the Active Exhaust System
on the European 2007 Big Twin models. It is
an ECM-controlled electric motor to open
or close a valve in the exhaust system to
meet the EU exhaust noise standards. For
those who would prefer the classic Harley
rumble to the EU whisper it is first necessary
to overcome the "Fault" warning light lights
on the dash. Zodiac offers a "trick" box to
fool the OEM on-board computer and
eliminate the "Fault" light problem. These

models. It is an ECM-controlled electric
motor to open or close a valve in the exhaust

ZODIAC'S BYPASS MODULE STOCK
The Active Exhaust System (AES) was
introduced on the European 2007 Big Twin
models. It is an ECM-controlled electric
motor to open or close a valve in the exhaust
system to meet the EU exhaust noise
standards. For those who want to install a
complete aftermarket exhaust system it is
necessary to trick the ECM "Fault" warning
module to prevent the warning light coming
on on the dash. The Zodiac Bypass Module
plugs into the stock wiring harness, replaces
the signal from the original motor and stops
the light coming on.

The “Tuff Seal" is a metal core, siliconeimpregnated material which has a tough
alloy ring around the inside edge to keep
exhaust gasses from escaping and to ensure
a faultless pipe to head seal. Fits Shovelhead
motors from 1966 thru 1984. Sold in
10 packs (OEM 65834-68A).
