Nominations for the Pet Mayor will be taken July 4 to August 1st. Voting begins in mid-August and end with the Corrales Harvest Festival the last weekend of September. Polling stations will be set up at the various businesses that sponsor candidates, at the Corrales Growers Market, and at the Harvest Festival. The winner will be announced at the Festival on Sunday, October 16th where all participants will receive awards and prizes. HARVEST FESTIVAL 2016 Election Questions??? To honor Corrales as a pet friendly community, the election will help raise funds for organizations and activities meeting the needs of the two-legged and four-legged members of the Village Please Provide the Following Information about You and your Candidate _________________________________________________________________________ Contact Name Candidate Expectations _________________________________________________________________________ Pet's Name & type (dog, cat, turtle, rabbit, goat, etc.) The success of the Pet Mayor Election is dependent on the excitement, enthusiasm, and momentum built by its candidates. As with most elections these days, there are few rules except one: TO GET VOTES! Voters place their votes by putting money ($1 per vote) into unique bins at various locations throughout the voting period of about 6 weeks. The candidate with the most “votes” (i.e. the pet that has raised the most money) is the winner of the Mayor's race. Other “officers” will be elected as well depending upon the number of candidates and types of pets. The winner will be announced on the last day of the Harvest Festival – October 16th, along with other officers. All will be awarded prizes. This will require a $25 (minimum) sponsor fee payable to the Kiwanis Club of Corrales Foundation Festival to help defray costs associated with the election. Please tell us why your pet should serve in this esteemed position. Corrales Harvest Festival 2016 Pet Mayor Election Application _____2) Providing a color photo of your pet for the voting bins’ flyers by August 7. _____3) Attending one planning meeting on Saturday, August 6 to discuss details of the election and to decorate the voting bins. We will contact you well in advance to confirm this meeting, its time and location. _____4) Staffing the Pet Mayor Election booth at the Corrales Growers Market for one Sunday shift, 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. beginning August 27 and ending October 8. _____5) Seeking opportunities to campaign for your pet! Think campaign signs, costume for your pet, having your business host campaign events (i.e. name a coffee (or adult beverage) after your pet, “parade” your pet around town or the Growers Market and invite votes on the spot. _____6) Explaining to potential voters the benefits of their votes as more than fun, but a tax-free donation (think big checks here………) to a charitable cause benefitting the entire Village of Corrales. And reward them with an “I Voted” sticker! Inform them of the location of voting bins should they wish to vote again, and again. _____7) Participating in the Harvest Festival Pet Parade to show off your candidate one last time and to encourage last minute votes.
