I have been out and about in March and the pre-match meal at the Dolphin versus Con in the A.I.L. was very entertaining. Sean O’Shea entertained the crowd with a mixture of funny stories and Irish songs. I popped in to Fionnbarras and Alan O’Rahilly is celebrating ten years of ownership. I dropped into Bob Foxes and John O’Driscoll complemented the magazine. Bob Foxes are showing Munster vs Clermont at 5pm on Saturday 27th of April followed immediately by Dan the Banjo man and are expecting a good crowd. I enjoyed an evening meal at the South County and must recommend it. Other events include Dan Walsh playing the cricket club on Friday 26th April and this should be a great night for all the advertisers. The May bank holiday weekend is Kinsale Sevens and this is always worth a visit. Best wishes, John City Break The opportunity to watch Ireland play Italy in Rome in the Six Nations does not occur frequently and a £95 flight from Manchester to Rome Campino facilitated my passage. Arriving in Campino, a twenty-five minute journey by bus for €4 brought me into the city. A visit to the Irish pub Druids Rock resulted in me meeting a team of ‘kilted jocks’ following Ireland. On match day a busy bus from Termini brought me to Stadio Olympio. The sun shined pre-match on the bridge and the Irish crowd sank a few beers. Unfortunately the match did not go to plan. Despite this the Druids Rock, the Nags Head (with a U2 tribute) all had a sizeable amount of Irish fans drowning their sorrows. Rome is a great Six Nations trip and doing some sightseeing on the open top bus which brings you too the Trevi Fountain, the Panthenon and the Circus Maximus gives you a strong cultural feeling. I enjoyed this Rome Six Nations trip, but I hope to go to Edinburgh for my next trip away. John Mac’s Rugby Angle On the club scene, UCC will not be promoted from Division 2A with Terenure winning the division. Dolphin will have been very disappointed to lose to Cork Con after losing a 17-3 lead in the AIL Good Friday Derby at Musgrave Park. Cork bragging rights lie with Con but key man Brian Hayes will transfer to Aurillac in France for next season. Moving to Munster the win at the stoop was a massive boost for fans and players and James Downeys tackle on Mike Brown typified the Munster spirit. At international level I would like to see Joe Schmidt of Leinster get the head coach position, as Leinster’s dynamic play if transferable will give the national team a chance to make a World Cup semi-final in England 2015. Finally, I hope Ronan O’Gara achieves his goal of becoming head coach at Munster as I admired his honesty concerning his relationship with outgoing national coach Declan Kidney. Catering for all customers. Available for all parties inclusive of free Champagne and nibbles Weekend Music Sunday 6-8 pm. Heineken Cup Semi-final &Dan the Banjo Man from 5pm Sat, April 27th. Hope To See You In May! A woman didn’t come home one night. The next morning she told her husband she had slept over at a friend’s house. The husband called his wife’s ten best friends. None of them knew anything about it. A man didn’t come home one night. The next morning he told his wife he had slept over at a friend’s house. The wife called her husband’s ten best friends. Eight confirmed he had stayed the night. Two said he was still there.
