The Thunderbird Volume 65 Issue 4 October thru December 2015 E-MAIL ADDRESS: [email protected] WEB SITE: lakeseneca.org FACEBOOK: Lake Seneca-Montpelier, Ohio President’s Message …….. November, 2015 It has been a month since your new Board of Trustees was elected. There is much to learn but we are dedicated to make our community one of the best in the region. The past board left us in a good, manageable financial position. The balance sheet is strong and the direction for the future is upward. The bills are all paid up-to-date and present dues are adequate to keep us afloat. The bridges have been repaired and another successful season of dredging has been completed. The next priority project is the roof replacement for the lodge. Temporary repairs can get us through the winter but the new roof should go on next summer. Precious little money is left to make long-term repairs and improvements until the dam is paid off in 2025. Two items that can greatly help make the finances stronger are…. The Thunderbird Page 1 of 20 1) More volunteer help. – Specifics in the next newsletter. 2) More members in good standing. In time all members are obligated to pay their dues and assessments. Too many are delaying their payment until they are put into the collection process, which gets very expensive with the fees, court costs, and attorneys. We find it most unpleasant putting our neighbors through this. We have alternatives for those who are having difficulties coming up with the money, if they will only contact us. Back on the positive items, I note the following. The children’s Halloween party was a big success with over 80 people in attendance. It was a fun time for all. Also, the potlucks on the second Saturday of each month have been well attended. These events are always of good spirit and provide a chance to visit with our neighbors, both old and new. Speaking of new neighbors, walk over and greet them. The ones that I have met are welcome additions. Also, I trust you have noticed the improved security. Trustee Gary Miller is putting together a good group of volunteers to improve the safety and orderliness of our community. Trustee Mike Sentle is working with the ODNR to get more enforceable rules on the water to help safety there. Thank you for the opportunity to serve. Bill Collins/President LSPOA ****************** Vice President//Trustee/Buildings and Grounds No Report Brad Felske ****************** Secretary/Trustee/Lake and Dam No Report Jim Waldron The Thunderbird Page 2 of 20 All lost and found items will be located in the security office. Passes can be picked up at either office. We will also be making contact with anyone driving an off the road vehicle without an orange flag. Any questions?
