meals, gourmet restaurants or simply small dining places in markets and villages.
Meals mentioned in the program are included and those not mentioned are left to your choice. Your guide and traveling
companion will tell you interesting places or restaurants, and may also assist you in your discovery, if you wish.
Meals included are indicated as follow: B: Breakfast L: Lunch D: Dinner
Day 1: PICHINCHA VOLCANO – HIKING
Departure to the Pichincha active volcano for an altitude acclimatization
hiking. Ascension to the peak 4.790 meters, 5 hours walk. Splendid view

L (Box lunch)
Uneven: From 500 m to 800 m - From 4 to 6 h hiking
When we talk about of Pichincha, we do not reference a single volcano,
but rather as two peaks that form this volcanic massive.
Peaks are called Rucu Pichincha and Guagua Pichincha, which translated from Quichua language means "Old" and
"Child".

The Guagua Pichincha is slightly taller of the two, despite calling the Child, its altitude is 4784 meters, while the Rucu has
an altitude of 4627 meters. El Guagua was highly active between 1999 and 2001, emitting a thick cloud of ash over the
city of Quito. During the ascent route to the summit, travelers can feel the smell of sulfur gases emanating from the
crater, which recalls the recent activity of the volcano.
Day 2: PAPALLACTA HIKING
Breakfast and then departure for the Papallacta pass (at an
altitude of 4200 meters). Acclimatization hiking around the lakes
of the area. Box lunch. Supper and night in Papallacta.
B L (Box lunch) D
Papallacta is a village and parish in the province of Napo, located
67 kilometers east of Quito city. Papallacta is known for its hot
springs and its lagoon, which is performed trout fishing. From this
place start climbing expeditions to Antisana volcano. From this
place comes much of the drinking water that uses Quito. The
weather is cold andean because of its altitude (3,300 m) and its
proximity to the Antisana. Surrounded by moors with a wide
range of flora and fauna, standing out the Andean condor, the national bird.
Day 3: TREKKING TO THE ANTISANA
Breakfast then loading luggage on the horses and departure for the base
of the Antisana volcano. 8 hours hiking. Box lunch. Supper and camping
there at night.
B L (Box lunch) D
Day 4: ANTISANA – LASSO – MOUNTAIN BIKE
After breakfast, clean-up of camping grounds, then departure on mountain bikes
towards Quito through the high moors of the
Central Cordillera. Box lunch. Transfer by private car to Lasso where we'll have
supper and spend the night at the local inn.
B L (Box lunch) D
Antisana is a stratovolcano in the Andes. It is situated between the provinces of Napo and Pichincha. And surrounded by
Cotopaxi, Chacana, Cayambe, Reventador and Sumaco volcanoes. The glacier lost at least 36% of its original mass in the
last 50 years. It is a source of drinking water for Quito, capital of Ecuador. It is a perfect volcanic cone of about 5753
meters high. These two double cones, the youngest forming a volcanic cone and the other it is the old crater of the
volcano, eroded by an ancient glacier, becoming a round valley, open only to the south.

hours walk. Box lunch. Return to Lasso and then to Tigua. Supper and
night at the Inn.
B L (Box lunch) D
Rising to 4721 meters height, the Ruminahui Volcano is an excellent
viewpoint of the volcanoes in this area.
Rumiñahui means Stone face in Quichua language. This extinguished and extensively eroded volcano has a caldera from
wich only remains the eastern walls, which can reach up to 800 meters from its base, this impressive height could be due
to the collapse of the magma chamber beneath the volcano.
Day 6: LATACUNGA – ZUMBAHUA MARKET – QUILOTOA – MOUNTAIN BIKE
Breakfast and departure by Mountain bike
towards Zumbahua. Visit of the village and
departure for Quilotoa where we set-up.
Hiking down to the crater of the volcano. Box
lunch. Supper and overnight in the Community
of Quilotoa.
B L (Box lunch) D
Zumbahua market is known for its fair on Saturdays. On a clear day on the way to Zumbahua you can see the Cotopaxi
cover with snow. In the typical market, you can see the vegetable stalls, people selling animals like horses and llamas,
masks and other wood carvings created by local artisans. This market is not frequented by tourists; you can see women
carrying goods on their heads and on the flames. You can find
just as highly refined textiles made in sheep wool and alpaca
wool, you will marvel at the scenery in one of the most
traditional Andean lands.
Day 7: HIKING FROM QUILOTOA TO CHUGCHILAN
Breakfast then hiking from Quilotoa to Chugchilan. Beautiful
rural sceneries. Box lunch. Supper and overnight at Chugchilan
