Ecuador in whole freedom…
10 days tour by local bus accompanied with your guide to melt into local life over the beat of public transport.
We will start the circuit with the visit of the Otavalo region with its famous market of bright colours, kindness and joy
of life.
We´ll continue to the heights of the Andes and its villages, with the Quilotoa region, located at 3800 meters of altitude
and the sunny city of Banos and its hot springs with a more humid and tropical vegetation.
We end this colourful stay by a walk inside the Chimborazo Reserve with its summit, the Chimborazo, the highest peak
of Ecuador 6310 m.

We leave when possible, meals at your expense.
Ecuador is a nice country for travelers who want to discover different experiences of taste. There are a huge variety of
meals, gourmet restaurants or simply small dining places in markets and villages.
Meals mentioned in the program are included and those not mentioned are left to your choice. Your guide and traveling
companion will tell you interesting places or restaurants, and may also assist you in your discovery, if you wish.

Day 1: VISIT TO QUITO OLD TOWN - LOCAL BUS TO OTAVALO - OTAVALO
Meeting with your guide in the morning and visit of the Old Town of
Quito: Basilica, Plaza Grande, Plaza San Francisco. In the afternoon,
departure to Otavalo by local bus. Hotel in Otavalo

In Colonial Quito, we´ll go to the Panecillo, small hill overlooking Quito,
on which stands the statue of the Virgen de Legarda and delimiting the
colonial town of San Francisco de Quito.
Then, we will go to the Independence Square, where is located the
Presidential Palace, the Cathedral and the Archbishop's Palace. Walking
towards the Plaza de San Francisco, we stop at the Church of the Company of Jesus. Visit the Franciscan Monastery,
Baroque monument located in Plaza San Francisco and visit the museum of religious art Fray Pedro Gocial which is right
next door.

Day 2: OTAVALO MARKET - HIKE TO PEGUCHE WATERFALL AND TO SAN PABLO LAGOON – OTAVALO
Breakfast. Visit the traditional and artisanal market of Otavalo. Excursion
to Peguche´s community and waterfall. We´ll continue to the shore of the
sacred lake of San Pablo. Return to Otavalo in local bus. Hotel in Otavalo

The indigenous Otavalo market
is with no doubts one of the most important markets in South America. It is the
ideal place to buy gifts and souvenirs for family and friends
The market was developed in the 60s and still remains, Ecuadorians come from
all over the country to see the wide variety of products at their disposal.
Tourists also marvel at the colorful textiles, straw hats (Panama), ponchos and
silver jewelry
Day 3: CUICOCHA LAKE – COTACACHI – OTAVALO
Breakfast. Departure to Cuicocha. hike around the lake. Box lunch
during the excursion. Visit of the city of Cotacachi, famous for its
leather crafts. Hotel in Otavalo

Cuicocha Lagoon is one of the most beautiful lagoons of altitude in
Ecuador with the Quilotoa. It is part of the Cotacachi-Cayapas. We will
have a short walk to admire the scenery
Day 4: COCHASQUI RUINS - MIDDLE OF THE WORLD – QUITO – PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION

Breakfast. On the way, visit the pyramids of Cochasquí and site of the Middle of

In the Middle of the World, we will visit the site that represents the symbolic pass of the
parallel Zero or Equator and its ethnographic museum.
Also we will visit the Inti Nan museum showing some physical laws related to gravity and
its influence and astronomical knowledge that Aboriginal groups Inca and Pre Inca had.
Day 5: MORNING AT YOUR OWN AT QUITO – LOCAL BUS TO LATACUNGA
Breakfast. Morning, at your Own at Quito - At 2 pm, we´ll continue by local bus to Latacunga. Hotel in Latacunga.

Day 6: LATACUNGA – QUILOTOA LAKE
Breakfast. Departure in local bus to Quilotoa Lagoon. Instalation and visit the
community. Descend into the crater. Ability to ride a mule from the lagoon
(optional).
Lunch, dinner and night in the community of Quilotoa.

The Quilotoa Volcano is a unique site in Ecuador with more than
3 km. in diameter and a height difference of 320 m. between the
edge of the crater and lagoon. The indigenous community living
there offers lodging, thus maintaining closer contact with local
people.
Day 7: HIKE FROM QUILOTOA TO CHUGCHILAN
Breakfast. Departure to the community and Lagoon of Quilotoa using local
transport. Walk along the edge of the crater and then from Quilotoa to
Chugchilán. Box lunch. Dinner and overnight at lodge in Chugchilán

Day 8: CHUGCHILAN – BAÑOS
Departure early in the morning to Latacunga and Banos by local bus. Breakfast at Latacunga before to take the bus to
Banos. Afternoon at your own in Banos to visit the town or relax at the hot springs. Hotel in Banos.

Baños is a charming resort site, with its hot springs, located at the
gateway of the Amazon and the edge of the Andes. The beauty of the
place and the hospitality of its inhabitants make of Baños a popular
destination. Nestled in the midst of a green valley, the city,
surrounded by forests, waterfalls and at the foot of the active volcano
Tungurahua 5016m, offers lush vegetation.
We will visit the impressive waterfall Pailón del Diablo. Beside the
Manto de la Novia waterfall, also cross the river Pastaza in Cable cart,
conveyance of the local people living near the river surrounded by
cliffs. If weather permits, we see almost constant activity of the
Tungurahua volcano.

Day 9: BAÑOS : SMUGGLERS WAY – MANTO DE LA NOVIA – PAILON DEL DIABLO – BAÑOS
Breakfast. Visit of the orchids route, walking in the route of smugglers
towards Manto de la Novia waterfall. Crossing over Pastaza river in cable car.
Continuation to the waterfall the Pailón del Diablo. Hiking to the waterfall.
Box lunch during the hike. Return to Baños at the end of the afternoon. Hotel

Day 10: BANOS – CHIMBORAZO RESERVE - BANOS - PRIVATE TRANSPORTATION
Private transportation this day
Breakfast. Departure to the Chimborazo's Reserve. Walking near the
Whymper Refuge (5000 m alt.) and the glacier. Box Lunch during the
visit. If participants want it, it will be possible to go up to the Whymper
Peak at 5250 meters alt.
Come back to Banos. End of the program.

Chimborazo Wildlife Reserve: For several years, a reintroduction program of
vicuñas and llamas began with the cooperation of indigenous communities living
in these areas of the paramo. They are very easy to observe. In addition, the
Chimborazo, the highest peak of Ecuador 6310 m. is a volcano that is a great
attraction for mountaineers and for those who appreciate the beauty of the
landscapes.
