In the top photo are mixed foil participants (from left) Brent Desarmo, Tedd Capp, Carson Mahant, Hein, Keith Herbrechtsmeier, Jim Hollub, David Peoples and Hailey Hentz. In the lower photo, former Parkside fencers stand behind with foil competitors. Hein is in the back row center wearing a blue shirt. The event included a tribute to Hein, the former Parkside coach. Winners were Elisie Kiouresses, beginner foil; Josh Madry, advanced kids foil; Alyssa Hill, women’s foil; Mahant, mixed epee; Desarmo, mixed foil. Other contributors were Carter Deinhammer and Cole Powers. In another game, the Komets Bantam B’s lost to Elmbrook 9-1 with Garrett Alton scoring the Komets’ lone goal. PHOTOS SUBMITTED TO THE KENOSHA NEWS Prize Catch: Great start Mark Martin of Kenosha kicked off his retirement by catching a 22-pound king salmon recently along the south wall of the harbor. He also netted a 15-pound king salmon using a blue and white flat fish lure. KENOSHA SPORTS NETWORK PHOTO In the swim of things Members of the Kenosha YMCA swim team pose for a picture during a recent dual meet against Lattof YMCA at the Waukegan High School pool on Nov. 2. The team continued to post championship qualifying times at the dual. Past state meet qualifiers Luis Correa and Caleb Levy added the 25-yard butterfly and breaststroke and 25and 50-yard freestyle, respectively, to their cache of state events. Zion Levy qualified in the girls 8-and-under 25-yard breaststroke for the district championship event. In addition, Megan Howard, Vaughan Spratt-Szarzynski and Alex Russell posted qualifying times in the 11-12 200-yard freestyle. The team is coached by Mike Hewitt. Wence won the half marathon in 1:22:16. Other KRC half marathon finishers were Hughett, fourth in 1:26:11, Ruffalo, 57th in 1:55:35, Fogel, 88th in 2:05:23 (personal record), Perugini, 89th in 2:05:24 and Burke, 91st in 2:07:16.
