Principal’s Message
Thank you … Thank you …Thank you … Thank you …
Because of the vision, on-going generosity and commitment of our Parish and
School, we gather here for the thirteenth year for PASS the TORCH, our Parish’s
signature event of the year! We certainly welcome back many of you who have
been so faithful to us, knowing that this evening will be brim-filled with making
connections, sharing in the fun of the evening, and experiencing the generosity
of the community gathered here. And we are delighted that many new people
are present here this evening … together we will make a significant contribution
to this year’s event!
We expressly thank that amazing team of volunteers who are responsible for
this year’s PTT, Rio Carnival. Creating such a colourful, lively and purposeful
evening comes about because of the generosity of time and talent that such an
evening requires. Just look around – the room beautifully alive with colour,
smiling faces, great displays of auction items, well-set tables and a great sense
of the excitement. You are sharing in a very special time in our school’s history,
and this evening will provide each of us with opportunities to make a difference
in towards this year’s goal. We thank everyone – for we know that hundreds of
individuals have come together to supply the hours of dedication that has created this spectacular evening.
St. Augustine’s made a commitment to build a new school for its children – and
we are all privileged to this year watch our new school begin to rise out of the
ground. As I read through the twelve programmes that have captured our event
over the years, I am awed at the dedication and devotion of so many people
– and you, through your financial support this evening, can count yourself
amongst this wonderful group of people!
Thank you each and all – for your presence, your generosity and for sharing our
vision for our children. We are grateful beyond measure –
On behalf of all the children, those who will live out all or part of their lives in
our new school, and those who will come in the future; know that your self-less
generosity is sincerely appreciated. We will remember you in our prayers with
gratitude and love,
Catherine Oberndorf

Pastor’s Message
Dear Friends, Neighbours and Families of St Augustine’s:
As we gather together for the 14th Annual Pass the Torch dinner we
celebrate the triple blessings of faith, friendship and community.
This evening is a very real manifestation of the trust passed to us
by St. Augustine’s alumni, parents and extended families. Tonight
we honour friendships forged through the bonds of time, treasure
and teamwork. We acknowledge the focussed commitment that
culminated this past February with the historic ground breaking of
our new school by Archbishop Miller, O.S.B.. Each individual in
this room has sacrificed their time, their talent and their treasure
towards the goal of better Catholic education. Working together has
produced tangible results.
Tonight we maintain our pledge to education, to our faith, to our
friends, neighbours and families and to the present and future
students of the St. Augustine’s Community. Our mutual engagement
in the realization of a new school will make the upcoming year ever
more fruitful and interesting. Our celebration this evening stimulates
our faith, fulfills our friendships and cements our promise to quality
Catholic Education.
God bless our neighbours, our friends and our families as we continue
this exciting journey together,
Father Terry McNamara, O.M.I.

Auction Rules and Guidelines
Your generous support of this evening’s silent and live auctions is
very much appreciated. Please take a moment to read the following
guidelines which are intended to aid you through the auction process.
Please use the following guidelines for the Silent and Super Silent
Auctions:
• Check your bids often– others will be bidding on the same items.
• Please PRINT your name, paddle number and table number
clearly on the Bid Sheets. This will help ensure that you receive
your successful bids. If we are unable to read the last entry or do
not have all the information, the winning item will be granted
to the last legible entry.
• The closing bid on the Bid Sheets is the successful bid as
determined by the Auction Committee.
• Pay close attention to the Bid Increments – each lot is different
– bids will be disqualified if the minimum increment is not used.
• Entering your bid on the Bid Sheet indicates your intention to
purchase the item and all sales are final.
• The “Buy Me Now” price is the guaranteed price to win that item.
If you select this option, the bidding stops and you are the final winner.
• Super Silent Auction Table closes EARLY at 8:00 p.m. All other
Silent Auction Tables close promptly at 8:30 p.m.
The following general rules apply to both the Silent and Live Auctions:
• Payment for all items may be made by cash, personal cheque,
VISA or Master Card at the cashier’s desk immediately following
the auction. Payment must be made in full on the night of the
auction. Invoices will be delivered to your table. Payment will
be accepted once “cashier open” announcement is made. All
sales are final.
• Cashier closes at 11:30 PM
• Items may be claimed only on the presentation of an official
paid receipt to one of the Auction Volunteers.
• All items must be removed on the evening of the auction. The
Auction Committee is not responsible for unclaimed items.
• All items are sold on an “AS-IS” basis. The Auction Committee
has attempted to accurately describe and catalog all items.
• The Committee and school will not be held responsible for any
misrepresentation of any item in the program.
• During the live auction, please hold your paddle up to ensure
that your successful bid can be recorded accurately.

Supporters of
Community
Wellness.
BlueShore Financial actively contributes
to the communities we serve – and
we’ve done so for more than 70 years!
We believe we have a responsibility
not just for the financial wellness of
our clients, but to also support their
overall well-being.
Mary, Mother of Eternal Light,
Good Joseph, Faithful and Just;
Jesus, Morning Star so Bright,
In you, we put our trust.
On this day we ask most fervently,
as we place our need with you,
a home for faith and community,
a school all bright and new.
