I am excited about the prospects for the future of the Fraternity, as a whole, and the Province, in particular. There are new fraternity initiatives, such as “Healthy Kappas, Healthy Communities” and the “Diamonds in the Rough”, that you will hear more about during the upcoming C. Rodger Wilson Leadership Conference. And, speaking of CRWLC, we have a conference planned that should be like no other. Brothers Joe Lewis and Anthony Williams have been working tirelessly to put together a conference of which we can all be proud. New this year is the addition of a public meeting on Friday, October 28th. Here, we shall acknowledge the contributions made on behalf of the community to benefit the community. I am excited about this new addition more so because it will be led by our undergraduates. So, I encourage all to make plans to be in attendance. It should be an event not to miss. Over the last three months, I have had the chance to connect with several brothers throughout our five-state region. I have found a number of brothers with great ideas and ready to lend a hand in moving the Province forward. And, I am looking for more. Over the next several months, I plan to visit all chapters throughout the Province. I want to establish an open line of communication between the Province and its chapters. To that end, I am using several social media tools to accomplish this. For those brothers that use Twitter, please follow me at @23NCPPolemarch. If you haven‟t go ten into tweeting and prefer to use a “tried and true” form of communication like email, please go to http://eepurl.com/fxaP-/ to subscribe to the Province listserv. Lastly, please visit the Province Web site as it will be updated to include information from Grand Chapter, the Province and, just as important, your local chapters. Brothers, again, I continued to be humbled by the opportunity to lead and serve this Province. I look forward to a successful year. Yours in the Bond, Korlon L. Kilpatrick Province Polemarch North Central Province Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. 2 Scroll of Achievements Brother Andrew Harris inducted into University’s Homecoming Court, joins elite Photo of Bro. Kappa League Chicago Juniors study abroad, gain new experiences Each summer, all rising seniors in the Kappa Leadership Institute-Chicago are afforded the opportunity to spend up to six weeks overseas in the "Kappa League Summer Study Abroad Program", made possible by American Field Services (AFS). This is the 3rd consecutive year that this wonderful and unique opportunity has been extended for all of our juniors, offered at basically no cost. It is funded by the American Field Services and the Crystal Fund Foundation. The academic excellence exhibited in these young men has paid dividends as they were only required to pay for their airfare to where the flight departs/returns in the United States. Other students who pay outright for a similar exchange program, will pay in the range of $10,000. This year, 36 of our juniors have taken advantage of this exceptional opportunity and traveled to Hungary, Costa Rica and Panama. 9 North Central Province collection shines at Grand Chapter Meeting exhibit In an effort to display our Noble Klan's 100 years of Achievement, all twelve Province Historians were asked to compile artifacts, photos and documents for the Centennial Historical Collection, during the 80th Grand Chapter Meeting. The Chicago Alumni and North Central Province Historian, Kevin Scott met this challenge head-on with his display that featured artifacts which represented the rich history and momentous events of the North Central Province and its chapters, Undergraduate and Alumni alike from 1911-2011. The Centennial Historical Collection was unique and greatly contributing to this effort, the North Central Province had over 1,200 photographs on display on state-of-the-art touch screen monitors which showcased significant times and places in history of the North Central Province and specifically, at various undergraduate chapters throughout the North Central Province. This phenomenal display would not have been accomplished without the generous donations and loans of many of these items from Brothers who represent the chapters of the North Central Province. Many thanks to them for their selfless giving, and trust to care for their personal items so other Brothers could benefit from viewing them for this one-of-a-kind exhibit!
