The Comas Spells
The Comas are a New York-based rock band
originally formed by Andy Herod and Nicole
Gehweiler in 1998 in Chapel Hill, NC. Currently
comprised of Herod, Gehweiler (guitars, vox),
Matt Sumrow (piano, organ, vox), Jason
Caperton (bass) and Nic Gonzales (drums), the
band has developed its most dynamic and
compelling sound to date, and in the last few
years have shared the stage with such acts as
The Breeders, Sparklehorse, Mando Diao,
Dashboard Confessional, and Vietnam. The
Comas’ unique brand of psychedelic garage pop
has been highly regarded by critics and fans
most notably for their sci-fi love songs
intermixed with floating synths and guitar fuzz as
found on 2004’s extremely well received
Conductor.
The intense rhythm driven melodies and soaring
distorted guitars that make up Spells are
intertwined with Herod’s lyrics characterized by
imagery of the forest. He and Gehweiler
alternate singing of “glow ing owl eyes,”
s“ piders,”n
“ ew wolves,”and r“e dwoods swaying
in starry space,”painting a picture of the magical

In 2001, Robert Pollard and the brothers
Tobias formed Circus Devils and veered off
the pop highway and straight into a deep
hole, where they mingled with nursery rhyme
characters of the future, invisible present day
villains and heroes, and the ghosts of rock
and roll past. The band’s strange o
j urney
culminates in the appearance of Sgt. Disco,
their first worldwide release on the Ipecac
label. Circus Devils incorporates a musical
alchemy of hard rock and soft rock, ugliness
and beauty, tension and ambience, eerie
moods, stories and humor and rock opera
theatrics, resulting in a strangely coherent
cinematic music experience.
Circus Devils is the most eccentric tip of
Pollard’s overflowing discography, likened to
an indie rock version of Fantomas, Sgt. Disco
features 32 tracks ranging from those under
one minute to regular song lengths.

If there’s one thing Houston rapper Rob G.
has in this world, it’s experience. From
appearing on MTV in a Roc-A-Fella
sponsored rhyme battle against the nation’s
top battle Rappers like Wreckognize and TJ
Swann, to escaping death in a drug deal gone
wrong, to witnessing the death of his father at
the age of 12, this artist’s life has been
nothing short of breathtaking.
After years of passing his demos to Charles
Chavez of Latium n
Etertai nment, Rob G
finally produced something that piq
u ed his
interest and soon after signed to the #1 Latin
powerhouse in the south.
Since signing, he has worked with producers
Happy Perez, Play-N-Skillz, Cory Mo and T.
Gray, and has recorded with major artists
such as Chamillionaire, Frankie J. and
Natalie. He has performed across the country
and is set to appear in the upcoming MTV film
All You’ve Got starring Ciara. His SWAT crew
began gaining fans across the state, and now
he’s finally receiving the buzz that he’s always
felt he deserves.
His first legit single, H
“ ousto n’s Got a Problem”
from his wildly popular Rob G. Campaign album
took a look at his city, currently sitting on top of
the hip-hop nation, and let the world know that
there’s more to the 4th largest city in the U.S.
than just candy paint and codeine. Rob G is
poised to be the next big voice in Houston. You
can get with him now, or just pretend you were
down when he hits the top of the charts.

For those who don't know, Killa Kyleon is in Slim
Thug's crew the BossHogg Outlawz. He came
up on the Southside watching all those Houston
legends put it down on Screw tapes, but never
manning up to get on one. Years later he got
down with Slim and just rode that wave. If you're
hoping to hear something similar to Slim, well,
you might be disappointed. Slim’s style is that
slow confident delivery while Killa's is more
aggressive and a lot more abrasive. Killa doesn't
rely on recycling used up lines about chopping
blades and how he's coming down. He has an
intensity that you don't find in a lot of Houston
rappers, and that’s what makes him standout so
much.

In April and May 2006 seven Baka Pygmy
musicians made a historic visit to the UK to
tour with Baka Beyond. For most of them it
was their first journey outside their rainforest
home and for all of them their first trip outside
Africa. Their remarkable performances were
captured on a digital multitrack and here is
the record of this unique tour.
“A decade ago, Martin & Su Cradick set off for
the Cameroon rain forest and brought back
exquisite recordings of the music of the Baka
people (The Heart of the Forest/Hannibal
Reocrds). In 2005, they took their remarkable
skills in energizing and documenting
traditional African cultures to the Rift Valley of
Southern Ethiopia. The result is a stunning
collection of tribal music, assembled for its
excitement and its beauty rather than its
documentary value to scholars. The work
they do resembles no other; they are fast
becoming one of the developing world’s great
cultural assets.”
Musicians from 6 countries in the Celtic fringes
of Europe and the West coast of Africa join
together to play the most original live world
fusion sound around. The spirit of the music
lives in the rhythm.

Deleted Waveform Gatherings
PRESS QUOTES:
-Just like Holm’s earlier work,
Complicated View” fumes with quality
and good craftsmanship. The production
is tidy and clean. The tunes hold a more
or less high and steady level of quality
with more punch and pouring guitars, and
fewer songs of the sentimental kind.
(Translated from ADRESSEAVISEN)
-It was often said in reviews of
Dipsomaniacs albums that the band
deserved a break-through soon, and that
in a perfect world they would be played
on the radio and become stars worldwide. This also applies to Deleted
Waveform Gatherings. And maybe
Øyvind Holm will experience what Robert
Pollard managed in the end: To become
a rock god at the age of 37.

Rainbow Quartz presents Deleted Waveform
Gatherings. Fronted by former Dipsomaniacs
band member Øyvind Holm, Deleted Waveform
Gatherings can be likened to Cotton Mather - or
better yet, Pavement meets The Beatles with
touches of The Who and exotic European
psychedelic flourishes. The track “Ways Around It”
sounds downright jam-bandish a la Dave Matthews.
This is truly electric stuff. When The
Dipsomaniacs broke up in 2004, Holm decided to
record a solo album. The Vanishing Act was
released in 2005 to great reviews both in Norway
and in the U.S. The Norwegian paper Nordlys
concluded in its review that “Holm is plain and
simple one of the best pop craftsmen we have in
Norway, and it’s about time more people took
notice of his talent.”
Despite critical praise, Holm felt lonely being a solo
artist. So when time came to write new material, he
asked the musicians who had backed him on his
solo gigs the year before if they wanted to form a
new band, and The Deleted Waveform
Gatherings was born. The band is: Øyvind Holm
on guitar and lead vocals, Hogne Galåen on guitar
and backing vocals, Anbjørn Viem on keyboards
and backing vocals, Robert Skjaervik on bass and
backing vocals, and Freddy Bolsø on drums. A year
later, the first fruits of this new alliance have
materialized in the form on the band’s debut album,
Complicated View. Released in Norway in late
November 2006, this album is now getting its fullblown worldwide release on Rainbow Qaurtz.
According to Holm, it’s about getting back to basics.
He says the album has “more energy and electric
guitars.” And having “new people to work with creates
new creative tensions in the recording process, so I
feel the songs come across as both playful and fresh.
It’s been the easiest album to do in years.”

Saving Jane
One Girl Revolution
For anyone who has grown annoyed by
the music industry’s habit of selling
songs with sex rather than substance,
singer Marti Dodson has an album for
you. It’s more like a movement. As her
band mates exorcise their inner rock god
on the hard charging, hooky One Girl
Revolution turing the band’s third disc
into perhaps their most electrified outing.
Dodson urges her fans to be themselves
and to reject how females are treated in
the music industry and in the media. If
Saving Jane’s previous disc, Girl Next
Door (Toucan Cove/Universal), was a bit
more sedate, on One Girl Revolution,
Dodson and company didn’t hesitate to
plug in and rev it up.

The Cockney Rejects formed in London's East End
in 1979. After their first record, the ‘Flares and
Slippers’ EP, the band were snapped up by EMI
where they had 5 Top 75 singles, including I’m Not
A Fool, which was recently used for a Levi’s ad,
and 2 in the top 40 – ‘The Greatest Cockney Rip
Off’ and the West Ham anthem ‘I’m Forever
Blowing Bubbles’. The band's first album, the
cheekily-titled ‘Greatest Hits Volume 1’ was quickly
followed ‘Greatest Hits Volume 2’ saw the band
attracting a massive following all over Europe. It
was a song on Vol 2, ‘Oi Oi Oi’, that gave a name
to the new form of street punk evolving at the time
that became known as Oi! Music.
The Rejects disbanded in 1985 but returned briefly
in 1990 to release the album Lethal. In 1999 the
band decided to reform with a view to return to live
work and also to recording again. After reforming
they found that the scene had changed.... for the
better. Along with their ever-faithful fanbase, the
band found that they had reached almost
mythological status amongst a new breed of fan kids weaned on the likes of bands such as Green
Day, Rancid, Blink 182 and others, who themselves
had long cited the Rejects as a major influence.
Consequently the boys found themselves in
increasing demand, headlining festivals in Europe
as well as in the US and Japan.
Now 2007 is here, and the Cockney Rejects are
gearing themselves up for their biggest year since
their reformation. A brand new studio album Unforgiven - is out on the G&R London label in June,
together with a single and video for the track Fists Of
Fury, which will be available to download. The Rejects
will headline the Concrete Jungle festival on April 2022 and the Rebellion festival at Blackpool in August.
Possibly most exciting of all, the Rejects will play the
London Mean Fiddler show on June 30, worldwide
PPV broadcast. Plenty of life in the old dogs yet, we
reckon!

6 years, 3 albums, a TV appearance, a ban, and countless headline tours in the UK and
abroad are earning The BiG a reputation as the most innovative and energetic Ska band
around. Their live performance is one not to be missed.
The BiG’s brand new CD mixes up thumping Trad Ska, with driving 2-Tone, and Funky
Skinhead Reggae to highlight why they are the UK’s leading Underground Ska act. Hailed
by many to be the UK’s finest Ska bands to emerge since the heady of 2-tone!
Europe’s most hotly tipped Dirty Reggae specialists (not unlike The Aggrolites but with a
more JA 60’s sound!). Authentic sounding Skinhead Reggae recordings recorded on
Fostex 8 track reminiscent of the legendary PAMA & TROJAN Records releases. The
band was formed by singer/guitarist Boss, former member of the successful European Ska
act Rude Rich and The High Notes. This new CD includes the much sought after
Conquering Ruler Records 7” single Reggae classic The Chambermaid, it also includes
new versions of Baby Baby Baby, Why YouYou Done Me Wrong and Cool It Down Rudie
and Jackie Miller Down from the 2005 Upsessions self released single.

Artist: Gaea Schell Trio
Title: For All We Know
Cat #: Route29
Label: Roadhouse Records/FN
File Under: Jazz
G.C.: 24
Price Code: SP
Order Due Date: July 12, 2007
Release Date: July 31, 2007
Since moving to Los Angeles in 2003, Gaea Schell has
become a significant part of the Southern California jazz
scene. Her piano playing, though based in favorites such
as Wynton Kelly and Oscar Peterson, is original within
the modern mainstream of jazz. She is an inventive
composer and has an appealing laidback singing style.
Gaea is frequently heard as the head of a trio. Her group
with bassist Chris Colangelo and drummer Albert “Tootie”
Heath is a unit with palpable chemistry, and is one of her
very best lineups. Colangelo has the sound of a classic
1950’s bassist and also infuses the music with his own
personality and inventive ideas. Tootie Heath, who has
played with virtually every great jazz musician since the
mid 1950’s, brings a great deal of knowledge to the music
along with impressive versatility. The interaction and
intimacy between the musicians is particularly enjoyable
on originals such as Conclusion and Contemplation. Due
to their ability to connect, the trio recorded the entire
album in a single six-hour session, an impressive feat
considering that half of the songs are recent originals.

Artist: Andrea Smith
Title: Sweet Embrace
Cat #: rootcellar5
Label: Root Cellar Records/FN
File Under: Pop
G.C.: 33
Price Code: SP
Order Due Date: July 12, 2007
Release Date: July 31, 2007
Andrea started out a simple country girl. But the years of
shoeing horses and working outside began to take their toll
on shoulders and hands, and threatened to interfere with
her guitar playing. So she quit the cowgirl way of life and
took off. She became a wanderer, an adventurer, and a
songwriter.
Her debut CD Sweet Embrace is lovingly hand-crafted and
beautifully produced, with each song set firm in the pocket
by a stellar cast of musicians. Andrea moves from jazz, to
blues, to folk, and adds elements of pop, country and rock,
creating a deliciously varied collection of songs. The album
opens with the title track, a friendly pop-country confection
about a woman coming home. The cowgirl part of her heart
also delivers Monashee Breeze and the classic easy
rocking I Don’t Wanna Wait as a country ode to yearning
and making one more try. On Weary it gets electric; one for
all the blues hounds. Tracks Of Life is more rawk! with
funky B3 and waling guitars. The tracks Thrift Store Coat,
Earl, and Closest Thing To Maybe all feature saxophone.
Coolest Guy is a perfect frothy happy guitar pop song, and
the closing track God Said is a prayer of surrender,
complete with gospel piano, exposed vocals and a
heavenly choir. A profound and lovely ending.

Attempts to describe Wolfstone’s music have always
stirred debate, but the essence of the band’s sound
is best articulated by the man who founded it all,
Duncan Chisholm: “At the end of the day we are a
rock band from the Highlands of Scotland that
happens to use pipes, whistles and fiddles in our
repertoire.” This philosophy underlies Wolfstone’s
success in attracting a large and loyal following from
fans of all genres. A unique instrumental blend
combined with a dynamic stage presence is the
band’s hallmark, and the reason that Wolfstone has
sold hundreds of thousands of albums over the
years.

File Under:Blues G.C.: 4
Price Code: SP
Order Due Date: July 12, 2007
Release Date: July 31, 2007
Smiling Jack is a road survivor with big stories to tell, and
this is big blues from Madrid, recorded on Vancouver
Island with dynamite players and a great production team.
The result is an individualistic gumbo of deep southern
flavours: spicy, steamy, and low-down, each delivered in
its own piquant sauce.
“The writing is pure Jack Smith – sardonic, self-centered
(but all blues is, by definition, unabashedly self-centered),
self-assured, except when it purports not to be and even
then it’s assertively self-deprecating. It is an album well
worth ordering; the music and performance by every
musician are beyond first class. Don’t order it just to hear
this talented ex-patriot Staten Islander sing the blues as
capably and joyously as it has ever been done, buy it
because this group may actually be the best continuously
working blues band that gets paid in Euros.” –Stan Jay

The Cure were one of the first alternative bands to have
chart and commercial success in an era before alternative
rock had broken into the mainstream. In 1992 the NME
declared The Cure had during the 1980s become "a goth
hit machine (19 to date), an international phenomenon
and, yep, the most successful alternative band that ever
shuffled disconsolately about the earth."[32] The Cure are
particularly identified with the gothic rock subgenre of
alternative rock, and are viewed as one of the form's
definitive bands. The Cure has served as a major influence
on many artists that have emerged during the the band's
thirty year career, including Jane's Addiction, The
Smashing Pumpkins,
