Community college can also be counted towards a four-year degree program (2+2) leading to a Bachelor’s degree. It’s a great way for students to save money on the first 2 years, adjust to the American culture and English language, and then complete the remaining 2 years on a university campus. During the past decade, enrollment at community colleges across the USA has exploded. Currently 45% of American students attend community colleges. Community College School Program 3 lle g e Co ity un a g n osi B e n e fi t s o f C h o C om m Lower tuition cost The majority of Educatius community colleges have inexpensive total package price (tuition, room, board, insurance, placement fee, application fee) below $20,000 per academic year. Lower level of English OK – no TOEFL/IELTS or SAT required All Educatius community college partners waive the admission requirement altogether for the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Experienced teachers and small class sizes At community colleges, almost all professors have advanced degrees and years of teaching experience. International student support services and activities Educatius community colleges offer extra support for international students including: tutoring services, airport pick up, and intensive English language programs. Work and study opportunity International students can often find on campus employment for up to 20 hours a week to make some extra money. Work opportunity: OPT (Optional Professional Training) International students who complete their Associate Degree at one of American community colleges, can extend their stay fo 12-18 months and work full time in the USA, earning a regular salary and valuable experience. Community College Career offices and Educatius assist students in finding jobs. Students can continue their studies for the next two years after OPT, get a Bachelor’s degree, and qualify for another OPT (another 12-18 months). Attractive locations often in major cities Because community colleges are often smaller than large state colleges, they are able to establish their campuses near America’s biggest cities. Educatius preferred community college partners have campuses close to Chicago, Boston, San Francisco and are spread all over sunny California – allowing international students to live in some of the most exciting places in the USA! Flexible payments International Students can pay their year tuition in several installments. If after the first semester they decide to discontinue or transfer to another college, Educatius will refund the entire cost of the second semester. 4 Community College School Program io n is s dm ra ra 2+2 gua nte ed tr s an fe How can I use an American community college to help me get into a top USA University? It can be challenging for international students to be accepted straight into the top American universities due to high costs and exam requirements. For example, one academic year at UCLA (University of California Los Angeles) including student dorm costs more than $60,000. UCLA also requires SAT/ACT exam scores, which require high level of English. But there’s another way to enter UCLA: 2+2 community college program Students who enter community college in California can transfer to UCLA after two years. An academic year at community college with accommodation costs about $20,000 which is 1/3 the price of UCLA. Students can significantly lower the total cost of Skagit Valley student successfuly transferred to the #1 university in the world – Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) . earning a degree by taking the first two years of a university program at community college. TAG – Transfer Admission Guarantee Most community colleges in the USA have agreements with 4-year universities allowing qualified international students to transfer their community college course credits toward a Bachelor degree. Educatius community college partners have Transfer Admission Guarantee agreements with top USA universities, including: University of Washington, University of Chicago, University of California, California State University, Purdue University and many others. We look for families who want to share their way of life and culture at the same time as they get to learn more about the student and his/her home country. Our families come from all walks of life and may be 2 parents and children, a single parent with children, 2 parents without children or a single parents with no children.
