seller and is drivable by any vehicle. Adjacent property owners are currently building a year round residence and
will most likely be plowing and maintaining roughly 1,500 feet of the Class 4 portion. Future unofficial road

About The Town
Wolcott, VT
Wolcott, located in the eastern part of
the county, bounded northeasterly by
Craftsbury, southeasterly by Hardwick,
southwesterly by Elmore, and northwesterly
by Hyde Park, was granted by the State,
November 7, 1780. Chartered to Joshua
Stanton and sixty-one others on August 22,
1781 as a township of 23,040 acres. The
name was given in honor of Major Gen. Oliver
Wolcott, one of the original proprietors. The
quality soil produces fine crops of the grains
and grasses indigenous to the latitude, while
the rich pasturage of its many hill slopes afford
sustenance to many herds of cattle. Beautiful
views are afforded throughout the town, the
most accessible of which being from the
cemetery near Wolcott village, where one may
obtain a sweep of the fine country in Lamoille
Valle—through Morristown, Hyde Park and
Johnson, to the mountains, and south into
Washington county.

functions, a concession stand and cafe
area, restrooms, and boat rentals.

27 Minutes— Located in Caledonia
county, The approximate elevation is
1,010 feet above sea level. Hardwick
offers scenic northern mixed forest and
the trails offer a pleasant wooded walk.

11 minutes - The East Hill Wildlife
Management Area offers 962 acres of
public land for hunting, fishing, and much
more. The WMA has excellent
populations of deer, black bear, moose
and more. Wolcott Pond, included in the

Elmore State Park
23 Minutes—The Town of Lake Elmore
calls itself “The Beauty Spot of
Vermont.” Located in the southeastern
part of Lamoille County, Elmore is mostly
forested and agricultural land. Lake
Elmore and Elmore Mountain, which
rises almost from the lake’s shore, are
prominent features of the town.
CC Putnam State Forest
44 Minutes—The park had its beginning
in 1936 when the town of Elmore and
local citizens made a gift of 30 acres on
Lake Elmore to the state of Vermont.
With modest means, a picnic and beach
area were created. Today, the park offers
755 acres for boating, fishing, hiking and

Lamoille River
Lamoille River is a river which runs
through northern Vermont and drains
into Lake Champlain. It is about 85
miles in length.
Lake Elligo
14 Minutes—Fishermen will find a
variety of fish including lake trout and
others here. Whether you’re trolling, fly
fishing or spinning, your chances of
getting a bite here are good. So grab
your favorite fly fishing rod and reel,

Caspian Lake
23 Minutes— Caspian Lake is a 789
acre lake located in Greensboro,
Vermont.
Caspian is a
beautiful country lake hidden between
Route 14 and 16. Many of the
lakefront owners have owned for
generations. They come from near
and far to enjoy the picturesque
waters for fishing (Brook, Brown,
Rainbow, Lake Trout and Salmon),
boating, swimming and relaxing.

Lake Elmore
23 Minutes—Lake Elmore is 219
acres, and lies northwest of the village
emptying into the Lamoille River
through Pond Brook. Elmore Mountain
is in the "Hogback Range" and its
timber is mostly hardwood. The
mountain has an elevation of 2,608

designated as a “quiet” lake under
Vermont’s “Use of Public Waters
Rules.” Boats powered by electric

29 Minutes— Located in the town of
Woodbury and home to one of two
Green Mt Conservation Camps
operated by the VT Fish & Wildlife
Dept. Buck Lake is open for regulated
hunting, fishing and trapping. Fishing

is restricted to walk-in and car-top
29 Minutes—The 653-acre Reservoir carry-in boats or canoes. Link: Buck
