Good planning by Board and Management in recent months
has been rewarded by a record profit that ultimately allows us
to prioritize the expenditure in order to efficiently carry out the
improvement programme.
In regards to the Joint Venture between Club Marconi and
Bluestone, I am happy to advise that Bluestone are most
active in meeting, discussing and proposing plans that Local
Government and State Authorities may consider feasible.
Both the Board and Bluestone will present a comprehensive
master plan to the members and we will allow ample time for
you the members to fully consider its merits on the future of
our Club.
I strongly reiterate what I have always said and maintain that
you the members are the decision makers in regards to the
Joint Venture proposal and the direction of the Club’s future.
The core loan with the Commonwealth Bank currently stands at
$9.2m We will maintain our commitment to keep on reducing
our debt.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Ladies
Committee and all volunteers that helped on Castagne
(Chestnut) Day. I was most pleased to see quite a large crowd
in spite of the inclement weather conditions.
The Board’s intention is to carry out the stated works through
cash flow generated through the various income centres of
the club.
A new addition to our team is Executive Chief Pietro Guarini
who brings a wealth of experience in catering and Italian
cuisine. Welcome Pietro.
The works programme includes:-
I welcome Loris Facchin, our Choir’s new conductor and at the
same time thank our past conductor Camille Mercep who by
her talents and together with our choir achieved great success.
•Gaming Floor Refurbishment
Construction and fit out of a new and more efficient dispense
bar and gaming floor.
 Replacement of the ageing carpet flooring
 Upgrade of the poker machine bases
•Air Conditioning Upgrade
We have completed stage 1 of the air conditioning upgrade
at a cost of $550,000 and about to commence work on
the next stage with an investment of $1.2m over the next
12 months.
•TAB area
Significant resources have been invested in co-operation with
Tabcorp to upgrade the TAB.
•Piazza Area
Two new pizza ovens have been installed and new furniture
will be introduced to the Piazza area in the very near future
•Front of Club
The entrance to the club in its current state does not present
the welcome that is expected. We will accept the best
tendered quotation to undertake the works in July. The works
will commence with minimum inconvenience to our members
and guests.
I thank the efforts of our Management and Staff who I know are
diligently carrying out their duty to serve the members and in
so doing the Club.
I would like to commend our Duty Manager Royce Hough who
3 weeks ago whilst on duty revived a gust at the Club utilising
his first aid skills. Well done Royce.
I do apologise for the inconvenience that the refurbishments
may be causing but the works are essential in creating better
facilities for our members.
As always, I like to end my report by asking for your support and
patronage and to be a united force to nurture, reinforce and
strengthen the Club Marconi spirit.

SPORTS PRESIDENT’S REPORT
MARIO SOLIGO
Dear Members,
Welcome to my Autumn report which sees us on our way
with all our winter sports commencing their competitions. We
welcome the sounds of kids, referee whistles and the smell of
fresh coffee and bacon and egg rolls down at the playing fields.
On behalf of the Club I wish the many hundreds of competitors
and officials wearing the Marconi emblem all the best for
their season.
Once again the year for Marconi Sports started with our 12th
Annual Sports Carnevale. It was a wonderful opportunity to see
our Sports Associations showcase their competitiveness against
teams from all over Sydney. Well done to all the organizers of
each of the sports. In March, Marconi Snooker also hosted
the NSW Snooker Masters with most of our Marconi players
reaching the finals, with Alfred Borg unfortunately going down
in the final.
In June we will be hosting the Bocciofilla sports dinner,
celebrating 57 years of bocce at the Club. In August the
Marconi and Presidents Cup Tournaments will be played with
the Annual Sports Presentation function held in October.
On the association front, Bocce has had a winning start to the
season with the team of S. Bruzzese, L. Brentin, A. Ruscia and
A. Fioravanti winning back the Marconi v Veneto Challenger
Trophy. In April at the NSW Federation finals Marconi teams won
three NSW Titles and qualified five players for the Australian
Championship to be played in Victoria. Congratulations to all.
Our carpet bowlers are continuing to grow and build wonderful
competition and social events for our members such as the
Valentine’s Day and Easter game days
FOOTBALL CHAIRMAN’S REPORT
ROBERT CARNIATO
Dear Members,
Sydney, from A grade for the elite right through to D grade
for the novices just starting out with bicycle racing. In
preparation for the season riders have competed all over the
state, a great commitment shown by all and I wish them all the
best over winter.
A unique and extraordinary opportunity arose whereby our
First Grade team was bestowed the honour of travelling to Port
Vila, Vanuatu to participate in The Grand Casino Cup for our
pre-season trip, in preparation for the upcoming season which
is now in full flight.
Just a reminder our Fencing association will celebrate its
10th year anniversary in August. Since my last report you will
be amazed that our young fencers have and will be competing
all over the world…wow!!! Recently we hosted the Vango
Fencing Club from China giving our fencers must needed
competition against future Olympians. You can read all their
results in the fencing report. Congratulations once again to all
the Blades.
Upon our arrival we were greeted with a rock star reception
and euphoric jubilation ensued everywhere the team travelled.
Football sometimes can be an enigma and our mere presence
was enough to make a positive impact and bring joy to the
locals. The boys represented the Stallions brand admirably
and set a fine example, embodying the spirit of our club today
and what we aspire to be tomorrow – a successful, respected
sporting organisation and the Club of choice that consistently
sets the benchmark on and off the field.
The Artists Corner located in upper mezzanine area and
annual exhibitions have now become part of the fabric of the
Club culminating in the Presidents Art Prize. The Arts corner is
a great opportunity for any member to display their artworks.
A reminder that Art classes are held each Monday during
school terms in the Bocce Lounge, conducted by Ms Nika
Norman. Classes commence at 7.00pm. Call the Association for
further details
In closing, I would like to thank all volunteers the best of luck
throughout the season as without them we could not get the
hundreds of competitors on the playing fields. I would also like
to, on behalf of the Board and Sports Executive, thank everyone
for their efforts and continued commitment to Marconi Sports.
Approaching the half-way point of the season we have a number
of teams flying the flag and stamping their authority in their
respective competitions – 2015 National Premier Leagues PS4
NSW Men’s 1 & Women’s 2 Competition (U12 - First Grade),
2015 FNSW Skills & Acquisition Program (U9 – U11) and the
2015 SDSFA Competition for our Marconi Juniors (U6 – U8).
Special mentions for our Under 15’s & 20’s squads currently
sitting in top spot after 10 rounds and the Under 12’s & 13’s
both excelling nicely. Our two senior women’s teams consisting
of 2nd Grade and Reserve Grade are flying at the present
moment and their rise to prominence is well and truly deserved.
Keep up the good work!
I’m also happy to announce the launching of a new partnership
between AVJ Properties Services and the Marconi Stallions,
our new major sponsor. It’s great to see these two dynamic
and passionate organisations work together to cement this
relationship and put us on a path to a successful future.
Finally, on behalf of the Football Committee of Club Marconi, I
would like to express my gratitude and sincere appreciation to
all the coaches, managers, conveners, support staff, sponsors,
parents, members and the diehard faithful for their continued
support and significant contribution to our senior squads and
to the development and evolution of all of our players within
the Football Development Program. I look forward to seeing
you all around the club and games throughout the season.
Yours in Football,
MARCONI STALLIONS FOOTBALL COMMITTEE

The Marconi Brumbies Cricket have had another successful
year with both teams making the finals but unfortunately our
juniors going down in the Grand Final. Well done Tony and his
committee and good luck for next season.
The Marconi Mustangs Rugby League Club are celebrating
their 10th season and our Marconi Fillies Netball Associations
are about to commence their respective seasons. We wish two
of our biggest and most successful sports best of luck, which
I believe will be ending in another season full of celebration
and achievement.
Autumn Cycling has come and gone and now the association
is heading into winter racing at Eastern Creek Racing Circuit.
Marconi is the only Club in Australia which holds a criterion
open event under lights each Tuesday evening. You can catch
the Marconi riders competing against riders from all over

WINNER!
In February The Poker Palace began their $170K Cash &
Car giveaway. This tournament was open to all members
of Club Marconi and set the record for the biggest
guaranteed prize pool at The Poker Palace (so far!).
The tournament kicked off strong with a full house on Day 1. Over the
space of a month, The Poker Palace was non-stop, with 24 freerolls
and 36 pro events held. The tournament was structured so that the
winners of each event received an entry into an invite-only game,
where the winner received a key to the Jeep. There were also weekly
draws & rich list players who received a key.
On the final day a 20k guaranteed Hold’em game was played where
the final table all received a key to the car. All of the winners were
ushered in the order of when they won a key, and were able to choose
which key they wanted from a total of 20. We then went for a walk
into the Main Lounge to see whose key got to open the car! The
first player approached the doors of the Jeep, put their key in and
turned… but to no avail.
Six players followed the same trend until Poker Palace regular
Michael Brahim took the stage. At first Michael thought he would be
disappointed, however quickly discovering that he had turned the key
the wrong way, Michael was jumping for joy and rushed by friends and
fans in celebration! The door opened and the Jeep was his!
Michael wishes to thank The Poker Palace & Club Marconi for putting
on such a fantastic promotion which was reciprocated by all of the
players at The Poker Palace.
Keep your eyes posted to our Facebook page & website for all
upcoming events – with the Marconi Cup Carnival around the corner
with a whopping $150,000 guaranteed prize pool!

TUESDAY
(Lunch Only. Available from 12pm – 3pm)
New Executive Chef Pietro Guarini has cooked for Heads of
State, top international executives and even members of the
British Royal Family. Now he’s on a mission to bring the very
best in Italian foods, flavours and traditions to Club Marconi.
Pietro moved to the UK when he was just 16, working for a large
4 star hotel and then moving into corporate catering. It was
here he learnt the art of fine dining, working for major clients
like Exxon Mobile and even catering a dinner for Prince Philip,
Duke of Edinburgh.
Whilst in London, Pietro met many Australians and identified
with their zest for life. After travelling to Australia in 2007 he
decided to stay on and spent the first 6 months travelling the
coastline from Byron Bay right round to Darwin.
WEDNESDAY

Pietro wants members to be really proud of the food served
at their Club. He invites all members to come on this journey

food, but the best Italian food in the whole of Sydney.

He settled in Sydney teaching French and Italian cooking at
Abbey College whist doing some personal catering. He even
opened a small rustic French/Italian restaurant on the North
Shore. It had no freezer, no microwave and no deep fryer – just
healthy fresh food from local suppliers.
Pietro was enticed by the Executive Chef at Taronga Zoo to
take over and reinvent the public café. From there he went on
to set up the catering systems and moved into the events and
functions area. He was again lured away, this time to work at the
Canberra War Memorial where he catered for G2E dignitaries
including British PM David Cammeron as well as Tony Abbott.

Meet Chef Pietro Guarini
Pietro began his culinary journey at the age of 11 in the
picturesque coastal region of Puglia, working in a little rustic
restaurant. Puglia’s cucina povera (peasant cooking) is legendary,
even in a country where cuisine is all important. It is a place
where tables groan under an abundance of olive oil, grapes,
tomatoes, eggplants, artichokes, peppers, salami, mushrooms
and fresh seafoods. It is a place that still influences Pietro’s
healthy cooking style based on fresh, sustainable produce
sourced from local markets.

2015
After a week of unforgivable weather conditions
which drenched Sydney, it was fitting that the
week ended on a brighter note, with the annual
Chestnut and Wine Festival. Even though skies
hovering over Bossley Park were filled with heavy
cloud, the spirit of the wider Italian community
and the enriched sense of culture and tradition
which the Chestnut and Wine Festival provided,
ultimately shun through at Club Marconi.
Even with the strong winds and chilling temperatures, the
warmth of the wider community and the proud tradition that
Castagne Day represents for the thousands of people present
provided one of the greatest atmosphere’s to date. From
various stall holders showcasing their unique creations ranging
from mouth-watering Gozleme, to hand-crafted clay ceramics;
the members and guests of Club Marconi were in for a treat.
And that was just the beginning. There was no shortage of
entertainment for the whole family, thanks to the Barbara
Easton dancers, Motivo Band and Fratelli Del Sud Italian Folk
singers, as-well as the delicious menu and friendly service
provided by the chefs and staff of Club Marconi.
Now to the hero of the day. The Chestnut. As we all know,
without the chestnut there is no Chestnut and Wine festival.
In a brief chat with Club Marconi director Sam Noiosi, Sam
expressed the significance of Chestnut Day, and talked about
its cultural and traditional significance originating in Italy
stemming from medieval times, even during the days of
Marco Polo.
“The celebration of chestnuts in Italy is commerated every
year during the winter months, and for many Italians living
in Australia, Castagne Day offers a traditional and cultural
reflection back to the motherland.”
After following the smell of roasting chestnuts which deliciously
engulfed the air; I stumbled across Club Marconi President
Vince Foti. Many other volunteers and Directors including Vice
President Mario Soligo, engaged in the physical activities which
came with roasting of the chestnuts. After chatting with Vince
and Mario, I not only learnt a valuable lesson in history, but got
a real taste of what they believe Castagne Day means for the
members and guests of Club Marconi.

“The best thing about Castagne Day is the camaraderie and
passion present. The day unites people and tradition together,
and is designed for the enjoyment of all our members and
guests.”
After trying some freshly roasted chestnuts for the first time,
I continued my journey around the festival talking to many
interesting stall holders and members along the way. Taking
the early- long trip up the M31 from Goulburn was stall holder
Colin Imms, along with his wife Wendy, who were visiting Club
Marconi for the first time. Colin and Wendy who make their
own ceramics from scratch, as part of their business ‘Paint your
own ceramics’, said other than the weather, they thoroughly
enjoyed the atmosphere Chestnut Day provided, and are
eagerly awaiting the Italian Republic Day next month.
As I passed the busy Club Marconi chefs preparing the days
lunch, I bumped into two special people who spoke about the
operations surrounding Chestnut Day. They were, President
of the Ladies Auxiliary, Joan Pellegrino, who was busy all day
alongside Club Director Delfina Pipitone assisting in the selling
of chestnuts to the public. Pellegrino, who has been involved
in the festivities of Chestnut Day for over 30 years, told me
how much of the days success is owed to every singular aspect
contributing on the day.
“The day is run by a combined effort of all facets of the club. It
consists of a working effort by the board of directors, members,
staff, chefs, stall holders, performers, entertainers, volunteers,
the community, and of course the main reason we all celebrate
today; the chestnut. These aspects form the foundation and unquestionably are a credit to the day’s success each year.”
Perhaps the most enjoyable thing to see in this year’s Chestnut
and Wine Festival was the Tarantella. Contestants from all
ages danced off for a chance to be crowned the winner of “Las
Vegas” well as President Vince Foti coined it anyway. Random
couples, to individual men and women and even kids all fought
it out, until two winners were bestowed the honour of 2015
Tarantella champion. Congratulations to Mr Riviera and Miss
Portolesi. I’d like to give honourable mentions to Vince Foti,
Joan Pellegrino and Borella President Luigi Valpato for getting
involved in the action, and showing what the spirit of Chestnut
day is all about.
Thank you to everyone who made their way out to Club
Marconi to celebrate the chestnuts, wine, food and friendly
atmosphere. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did.
See you all next year.

2015 Marconi Sports Carnevale
Sunday the 29th of March marked the 12th inaugural
Marconi Sports Carnevale hosted by Club Marconi,
in which over 300 members and players from the club
and other clubs across Sydney (as widespread as the
Hawkesbury region) participated in a variety of competitive
Italian Restaurant
and friendly sporting activities, across multiple platforms
of sports. Marconi Sports Associations present on the day
included carpet bowls, netball, borella, snooker, and men’s

In an effort to increase the level of recreational activity amongst
members of Club Marconi and its guests, it is fair to say that this
year’s sports Carnevale, certainly achieved this. Not only were the
numbers of people who attended this year’s Carnevale greater, but
the experiences of those members, guests and Association officials
across all sporting fields, all unanimously agreed that the day was a
positive success.
From bocce to netball; the Carnevale experienced a showcase of
traditional and mainstream Sports Associations, together forming a
unique cultural and diverse experience for all demographic audiences
attending the sports Carnevale.
Captain of Carpet Bowls, Giovanna Pina, praised the organisation
and hospitality of the club; in her own words describing the
experiences of people on the day as ‘really enjoying’ and a ‘beautiful
day.’ Over 20 carpet bowls members participated in the event, in
which prizes for first and second place were allocated respectively.
Pina is anticipating a larger turn out next year, and is excited in the
prospect of gathering new members.
The netball association, in partnership with the art association once
again did not disappoint, integrating face painting for the kids and a
BBQ lunch as-well as non-competitive games of netball for the U10’s
in preparation for their up-coming season. Over 16 teams comprising
of 200 people including several local clubs attended, in which
coaches and umpires got a good chance to learn more about their
teams. President, Mary Capasso praised the event, basically summing
up the purpose of the Carnevale saying ‘everyone’s a winner, and the
kids love it.’
Approximately 50 members of the Borella Association also
participated in the sports Carnevale, although in a more friendly style
of competition on the day. Club Captain Luigi Volpato said that the
numbers of players from last year’s Carnevale in comparison to this
year’s spectacle have increased, and hopes for an even larger turn up
next year.
Last but not least; the Carnevale was also home to the inaugural
snooker championship, in which approximately 40 people attended,
including Marconi members, and members from the Campbelltown
Catholic Club. Individuals competed for a share in prizes including
vouchers and cash, and the prestige to be crowned the reigning
Marconi sports Carnivale champion for 2015. Marconi snooker
captain Jim Ruisi said the day was a complete success and can’t wait
for the prospect of inviting more clubs and increasing spectatorship
next year.

Also our Federation Finals were held at our Club and I am very happy to say that Antonietta Ruscio and Nella Chiandotto won the doubles,

Great effort by all competitors. They must now compete in the Nationals in Melbourne. We wish them Good Luck and "go the blues'.

TENNIS
CARDS
Be like the best
The Cards Association (both men and ladies) have been going well.
We now have a total of 61 members.
Whether you are competing in a grand slam or just your local
Saturday afternoon competition, one thing always stays the same
- competing to the best of your ability, not matter the score, is the
most important thing. Win or lose, it's about always putting 100%
effort in both training and match situations. This is what makes the
Big 4, the Big 4. (Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and
Andy Murray). These players go the extra mile in every facet of
their lives to play at their best at the most important times in tennis
matches. By going this extra mile, they have more confidence to
go for their shots in high pressure situations, they hit line after line
when they need to and they portray a never give up attitude no
matter how far behind they are or how far away the ball is. That’s
what makes these players role models for everyone including tennis
coaches like me.
Our Saturday afternoon Fast4 M-League competition (every Saturday
12-1:30pm) boasts 18 players that have this mentality. Every player in
this competition plays to the best to their ability every week and win
or lose, they play the game in the right spirit. As the competition's
coordinator, this is something I am very proud of. Whether it be
singles or doubles, we always have a great, even contest.

SNOOKER
Dear members and associated members,
Our first major tournament was the NSW State Masters, held at
Club Marconi on the 7th and 8th of March. It was a busy weekend,
with some of the best players in NSW. Saturday was elimination
day, where four of our players got through to the quarter final.
Those players were Vic Sacco, Alfred Borg, Roger Farebrother (who
has won it twice before) and Sam Delia.
Alfred Borg went through to the final, and got defeated by Joe
Minici who has won this event twice before. Great achievement by
all our boys, and for Alfred Borg, to reach the finals.
Carnevale was held, a great turn out for us where we had 20 plus
players participating, the winner on the day was George Isshak well
done to all.
White Elephant is in progress, already played eight out of twenty
weeks. Top eight will play in a round robin knockout, to decide
the winner.
This tournament is sponsored by Mario Sanna, who has supported
Club Marconi Snooker for 32 years, we would like to thank Mr Sanna
for his continuous support to our sport and hope this friendship will
last a long time.

PHYSICAL CULTURE
Marconi Physical Culture has started the year off wonderfully. We have gained many new members and staff in 2015 and we are excited to
see each and every member push themselves to achieve great results throughout competitions this year.
The girls have been working diligently to learn their dance routines and have been working extremely hard to increase their flexibility. The
girls attend each lesson eager and energetic to continue to perfect their routine for their teams and champion girl, later in 2015.
In 2015 Marconi Physical Culture has held a number of events that the members have participated within. Some of these events were St
Patricks Day, Pyjama Day and Easter celebrations.
In concluding 2014 Marconi Physical Culture has raised $3000 which was donated to the Starlight Foundation. This year we are aiming to
better our fundraising efforts in aim to provide support for the Breast Cancer Foundation.

who will one day represent China in future Olympics. Friends for
life and hopefully our Blades can experience the same over in
China one day.

CYCLING
Autumn has come and gone and we are now heading into our
Winter Calendar of racing for 2015. We are the only Club in
Australia which is conducting a criterium open event under lights
each and every Tuesday evening (weather permitting). You can
catch the Marconi riders and riders from clubs like Lidcombe
Auburn, Parramatta, Penrith and a new club called North Western
Sydney Cycling Club competing for places in any one of our four
grades. A grade for the elite right through to D grade for the
novices just starting out with bicycle racing.
The following day was the official start of the 70km or 110km
Blayney to Bathurst Sportive. Average time to finish the ride
was just over 3 hours. Average speeds of 35km with top speed of
89km/h. Before you can make that fast decent, you need to grind up
4km of grade 3 and 4 inclines. As the sign at the start of Hill states,
the pain starts here.
Getting us prepared for the winter racing series under lights
where temperatures are in the single figures, we as a club have
been conditioning ourselves with weekly training on the M7
cycleway and participation in Cyclo Sportive events. The trifecta
of sportive events that made up our preparation were the Tour De
Hills conducted in the Hills District covering 94km of undulating
shared road around rural North Western Sydney. The Bobbin
Head Classic, 104km of National parks with steep and winding
roads, fast descents and the notorious Wall section heading out
to West Head.
Written for publication by Diorne Lia
The 3rd and last Cyclo Sportive event is the famous Blayney to
Bathurst ride. 110km of country roads that take you through
country NSW‘s Mecca for motorsport, Mount Panorama. This is
the event most of us at Marconi cycling have been working for.
Marconi members Peter Tononcelli, and David Jacobs organised
everything, from the official Marconi Team Bus, accommodation
and Dinner arrangements. This event was conducted over 2 days
with the 1st day dedicated to criterium racing and Hill climb
events at Mount Panorama.
While some members were competing in the criteriums, others
were just taking in the views with a ride up the famous mountain
straight where we all posed for a photograph with Bathurst as our
background. We then headed down the mountain again through
the cutting and down conrod straight continuing into Bathurst
city were we stopped for hearty lunch.

1. Under 10's Grand Final Premiership Team 2014 2. Under 11's at the
Parramatta vs Titans Game 3. Under 11's Team of the Week
2.
We have just kicked off another rugby league season here at
Marconi Mustangs and it's going to be a big one. This year, the
Mustangs will be celebrating it's 10th Anniversary season playing
in the Parramatta District Junior League Competition. We have
plenty of reasons to smile, as this is the first milestone for our young
club. We have also introduced "C" Grade this year. We are looking
forward to competing in this new level of competition.
One of our teams that we are really proud of is our Under 11's,
coached by Pa Marurai. On April 11th this year, Coach Pa and his
Under 11's were invited to run alongside the Parramatta Eels players
as they took to the field in their game against the Gold Coast Titans.
It was extremely exciting for the boys who got to meet the first grade
players, experience the tunnel and run out across the field. While
they were running out onto the field, their Premiership winning team
photo was flashed across the big screen. How amazing!
The team received this honour when they were nominated as Shine
Lawyers Team of the Week for their hard work and dedication they
showed during last season. The team and the coaching staff really
did Marconi proud last year. This team barely had enough players
to field a full team at the start of the season, to then go on to win
their first Grand Final Premiership at the end of the season. They
accomplished all of this with great teamwork, good sportsmanship,
humility and always with big smiles on their faces. The boys,
our coaching staff, parents and siblings had a great day out at
Parramatta and it was a real honour to represent our great club.
We wish not only our Under 11's team but also all our other teams
this season, the best of luck as they continue to do our club proud.
We have many great boys, families and sponsors loyal to our club.
We are very grateful for this.
Let's see how BIG this season at Marconi Mustangs will be!

Australian artists exhibition in Rome
Steve McLaren has been selected to curate an Exhibition of
Australian artists in Rome in late November 2015 which will
be opened by the Australian Consulate in Rome on Friday
27th Nov at 6pm at VIA GUILIA GALLERY. Artists are chosen
by a selection process. For a full outline contact Steve at
[email protected]. Briefly artworks need to
have a quintessential Australian feel about them giving Rome a
taste of our essence and lifestyle. He hopes to bring a reciprocal
exhibition from Italy to Club Marconi.
Art classes
The classes are held on Monday nights during school terms, in the
Bocce Lounge and are conducted by Ms Nika Norman. Classes
commence at 7.00pm and finish at 8.30pm. For further information

Artists Corner
The latest exhibition featured the work of award-winning artist
Filomena Vanzanella and was on show from 18th January to 3rd
May. Filomena is a Sydney based artists of Italian parents. She
enjoyed art as a child, but had to put that aside in order was to
raise a family. Once her family had grown up, she was free to study
art and in 2006 completed her Advance Diploma of fine arts.
She prefers to paint portraits from photographs and paint them in
acrylics. She also likes to use charcoal and paint different subjects
such as plants and animals. This exhibition displayed a group
of paintings and works on paper that depicted how her art has
progressed over time. The portrait subjects were of her immediate
family, usually based on a staged photo of the subject.
We congratulate Filomena on her exhibited body of work and wish
her well for the future.

On 2nd May 2015, we saw Marconi Netball commence their
7th season at Liverpool. We would like to thank Delfina Pipitone for
attending the Liverpool March Pass. Good Luck to all of our
16 teams.
It’s an opportune time to thank all the people who have put their
hand up to help out before the season started and during the
season so far. It’s great to see a lot of people getting involved
to make the club a success, It is very much appreciated, and to
everyone else good luck for the rest of the competition.
Till next time and happy netballing,
Mary, Angela, Daniela, Lucy, Juanita, Annette, Natarlia, Kelsey,

TREVISANI NEL MONDO
Our 2015 activities commenced with the annual
renewal of membership and luncheon in the
Auditorium at Club Marconi on Sunday
8 March 2015. 240 members (old and new) came
together and enjoyed a great day of friendship,
good food and wine, topped off with some
gentle exercise to the sounds of Italo Baraldo.
The outcome of the Annual General Meeting
and Committee Elections held on Sunday
19 April, resulted as follows: President Luigi
Volpato; Vice Presidents Bruno Mazzer and
Bruno Torresan; Secretary Eileen Santolin;
Treasurer Rita Feletti; Assistant Secretary Laura
Chies; Assistant Treasurer Rita Perencin; and
councillors Franca Bazzo and Silvana Gava.
Member Giuseppe Carretta crafted a wooden
pedestal with the Civic Tower of Treviso on top.
Newly elected President Luigi lit the candle and the committee and other members gathered
around to sing the Trevisani Nel Mondo Anthem, led by Luciana Volpato, which brought a tear to
the eye, renewing the pride and strengthening the bond that exists in this unique organisation.
Grateful thanks to Club Marconi Directors, CEO Grant, Functions Co-ordinator Jasmine, the chef
and staff for their untiring courtesy, co-operation and assistance to us at all times.
