A Moment with Mandy
I will bless the Lord at all times;
his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
-Psalm 34:1
As a youth in Pastor’s Class we spent much of our
time studying the importance of developing a meaningful
prayer life. I was able to grasp the importance of communicating with God, and I knew that it was an area that I would
always need to work on.
The very first type of prayer that we learned about
was praise. God is worthy of all praise! The psalmist says
that the praise of God will continually be in his mouth.
Likewise, we should praise God every day with our words
as well as our actions. Praise should flow from our lips and
be seen in all our relationships.
Have you ever been moved by the praise an athlete
offers to God after having won a sporting event? Even
though that athlete has trained daily, the victory belongs to
God. He or she cannot take the credit. We, like the thankful
athlete, must be faithful in praising God.
Tonight as you say your prayers, praise God for all
the wonderful people, things and experiences that came
your way during the day.
God, we praise and thank you for all our many blessings.
You are worthy of our praise! Amen
Many Blessings,
Mandy

December 13th was a big day for our church. The children’s
presentation of “Twas the Light Before Christmas” was well
done and much enjoyed by all. Many thanks to Tama Marriott,
Joyce Markle and Ryan Wiedeman for helping Pastor Mandy
with the Christmas play.
Following the program a large part of the congregation
“lingered longer,” thanks to the hospitality and delicious food
provided by hostesses JoAnne Fox and Edith Gordon, who
were assisted by Dorsalene Hayen, Ginny McMains and
Nadine Waddill.
Our next Linger Longer will be January 10th and we would
welcome volunteers! Call Jim Elliott or Joan Perry if you would
like to help!
Thanks to the Chancel Choir for sharing your time and talents
with us. The cantata “A Noel Celebration” was wonderful. We
appreciate and love you!
The following members either performed or helped with the
cantata:

In the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) we
practice believer’s baptism by immersion, which
means that when a person is mature enough to
make their confession of faith and accept Jesus
Christ as Lord and Savior he or she may be
baptized by full immersion in the model of the
New Testament church.
Pastor Mandy will be offering a Pastor’s Class for
Baptism throughout Lent for anyone who would
like to be baptized on Easter Sunday, March 27th.
This class will take place on Sunday mornings
during the Sunday School hour beginning
February 14th. If you, or your child, are interested
in this class and would like to be baptized on
Easter Sunday please contact the church office or
Pastor Mandy to sign up (or if you have questions
about the class or about your readiness for
baptism please contact Pastor Mandy).
