Nevada has protestedthe selectionof the site listing
contaminationof undergroundwater and earthquake
potentialas hazardsto safestorage.A new problem has
arisen.Scientistsat the governmentlaboratoryat Los
Alamos have done a studywhich showsthat over time
with deteriorationof the storagechambers and the
erosion of the steel drums holding the plutonium in
glasslogs, there will be enough consolidationof the
plutonium in the rocks to result in an explosion as
powerful as a large nuclear weapon. Ref:witliamBroad,
