Management Conference
Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) will host
the fourth Pan-IIM World Management Conference during
December 13-15, 2016 at Ahmedabad. This is an annual
event organized by the Indian Institutes of Management and
supported by the Ministry of Human Resource
Development, Government of India. The previous editions
of the conference were organised by IIM Calcutta (2013),
IIM Kozhikode (2014) and IIM Indore (2015). The forum
provides an excellent opportunity for academicians,
researchers, practitioners, policy makers and thought
leaders to exchange their ideas and foster collaboration.
Academicians, researchers, doctoral scholars and
practitioners are invited and encouraged to submit their
research papers in all areas of management.

Conference Theme:
‘India:Towards Better
Governance’
More than ever before, effective governance has become critical to
the development and progress of a young and aspiring country like
India. Leaders of government institutions, and the associated
private enterprises, today are under increasing pressures to
perform and provide quality services with limited resources and
face additional stress emanating from global economic, social,
political, and cultural integration. The responsibilities of leaders are
multifaceted and often very complex.They need to balance the
inherent tension between efficiency (working with fewer resources)
and effectiveness (achieving superior performance and welfare for
all stakeholders).
There is a need to better understand various facets of functioning of
the Indian governance systems and associated organizations (both
public and private), such as the leadership of enterprises, public
administration, decision making processes (including the political
setting in which decisions are made), program implementation
challenges, and the evaluation of the effectiveness of government
policies and initiatives aimed at bringing improvements that better
serve public interest.

The theme of this conference invites researchers to explore the
management lessons from successful public and private
organizations and institutions that can be applied to the Indian
government and its associated organization (public and private) in
order to make them more efficient and effective.

Extended abstracts (2000 words) of original research papers are
invited in all areas of management including the following:

Note:
Papers that are not directly related to the conference theme but
represent cutting-edge management thinking are most welcome. Both

Conference Awards:
Paper submissions will be evaluated for originality,
research rigour, and contribution to theory and/or
practice. High quality research papers will be nominated for awards under the following category:
• Best doctoral paper awards
• Best research paper awards
Special Issue
Selected papers will be invited for publication in a
special issue of Vikalpa (published by Sage).
Conference Proceeding
Extended abstracts of best papers in each track will
be published in a conference proceeding.
