DISPATCH Spring 2014 Dedicated to Serving Those Who Serve Us. C.A.H.P. Credit Union Can Help Ease Debt-Related Anxiety at Home and on the Job. Having unstable finances can lead to crippling stress at work and home. The anxiety caused by being neck deep in bills and not having a rainy day fund can wreak havoc in our lives and on our nerves. Our goal at the C.A.H.P. Credit Union is to help you become financially literate. We do not want to simply provide you with ideas; we want to offer you the resources to better understand your personal finances. This concept sparked the design of an online financial literacy quiz for our members to take with your participation resulting in an actual reward. If you receive an 80% or higher on this quiz, you could receive up to 2% off a debt consolidation loan.* Our financial program is not simply offering a laundry list of theoretical ideas. It provides resources to better understand and revitalize your personal finances. This concept sparked the design of an interactive module aimed to educate members on ways to improve their finances. Not only will this educational service teach our members how to create and balance a budget, it will reward those who actively participate. At the end of the program members receive a score. For those who receive a score of 80% or better, C.A.H.P. Credit Union will reward them with an interest rate reduction on their debt consolidation loan.* We want to work with you. C.A.H.P. Credit Union wants you to be safe and financially secure. You may be curious how we are able to do this? The answer is in our name and goal. C.A.H.P. Credit Union is a not-for-profit financial institution, a member-owned and member-focused cooperative. Our goal is to share the profits with our members because our members are not just another client. Our members have ownership in the credit union. I am committed to not only providing the traditional and latest credit union services to our members, but also to give our members confidence in making finance decisions. C.A.H.P. Credit Union would love to see every single member take the financial literacy quiz. Once a strategy for eliminating debt has been put into action, it is time to start planning for the future. Working to avoid future debt; saving money for a rainy day fund; and saving for future needs – such as college expenses – are vital steps in eliminating financial stress. This is one of a host of reasons that your C.A.H.P. Credit Union is dedicated to providing the tools needed to help those who serve us get through difficult financial times and become more financially stable. We know that you decided to serve your community because you wanted to make a better world for your friends and family. A critical step in breaking free from debt is becoming financially literate, understanding your personal financial details and developing a realistic budget. We offer Consumer Credit Counseling Services completely free for all of our members, whether you feel buried under mountains of unpaid bills or simply are concerned that you might be spending more than you can afford. Credit Union provides several additional services designed with your family in mind. We understand that the financial concerns of law enforcement personnel are different than those of our neighbors. Credit Union Offers Low-Stress Loans for Recreational Vehicles It can be a challenge to strike the right work-life balance, particularly in a line of work that can be as stressful as public safety. But research has shown that failing to disengage and take time off can affect your health, have a negative impact not only for you but your family, friends and your work. The C.A.H.P. Credit Union understands that “mentally unplugging” from work-related stress and spending quality time with family and friends is priceless. If you have considered buying a recreational vehicle to hit the road with loved ones, C.A.H.P. Credit Union can help make that a reality.
