The Picturesque Venue
The Cellars-Hohenort is a haven of peace and tranquillity, nestled in the heart of the beautiful Constantia
valley, Cape Town, South Africa. The hotel is part of The Collection by Liz McGrath, a group of three 5star Relais & Chateaux hotels.
The Cellars unifies two great traditions, the magnificent restoration of the 18th Century Klaasenbosch
wine cellars and the splendid Manor House of the Hohenort, previously owned by the Spilhaus family.
With its understated elegance and charm, the hotel boasts 49 luxury rooms and suites, with breathtaking
views across the 9 acres (3.5 hectares) of world renowned gardens and vineyard.
The gardens at The Cellars-Hohenort are acknowledged as one of the finest hotel gardens internationally

The Great Hall
The Great hall is the perfect solution to uncooperative weather. Situated in the heart of the original
Hohenort building, it can accommodate a maximum of 50 guests, standing and 40 guests seated (using
Wimbledon chairs).

Surrounded by lush green foliage, hidden by ancient trees: why not make it all happen on the premises
underneath the breath taking palm arch. This is the ideal area for an outdoor ceremony.

At this beautifully revamped venue, Liz McGrath has created a perfect summer-house mood of clean and
uncluttered elegance, with pale greens and purple orchids, some bamboo and big windows that look out
onto the gorgeous gardens of Hohenort. The Greenhouse has taken pride of place in the open, airy and
pleasant surroundings of a conservatory style room that leads on to the wrap-around terrace.

Our larger groups can be facilitated by means of erecting a marquee on the Hohenort Lawn. This
spacious piece of semi level ground provides the most picturesque venue, with views that include the
Hohenort pool and vineyards.

Innovative, Accomplished and Delicious . . .
As weddings are a very individual preference our Executive Chef meets directly with the Bride and
groom to create a personalized set menu for the couple and their magical day. Executive Chef Peter
Tempelhoff’s food has been described as innovative, accomplished and delicious.
Should you have any special requirements or preferences, our Chef would be willing to draw up a set
menu to suit your needs. Vegetarian guests can be accommodated should your menu not be suitable for
your vegetarian guests.
The chef prefers tailor-made menus for every special occasion; therefore we do not provide set menus.
Only ONE starter, ONE main course and ONE dessert may be selected. Unfortunately we cannot offer
your guests choices on the evening.
Kindly note that whilst we shall certainly try to keep the menu identical to what you have chosen,
ingredients are subject to availability and the chef reserves the right to make a suitable substitution
without prior notice.
Our Sommelier and Chef can also assist in pairing the perfect wines with the courses you have chosen.
Please note that whilst our kitchen is Halaal friendly it is not Halaal certified.
We require notification of any dietary requirements two weeks prior to the event.
Final numbers for catering are required 72 hours prior to the event.
The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel has a fully licensed bar. Beverages are charged on consumption to account.
Our Food and Beverage manager will be more than happy to assist you in selecting wines for your
magical day. The Martini Bar offers an extensive list of cocktails.

The Hotel is adjacent to the world famous Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens and minutes away from the
Constantia Wine Route. There are breathtaking scenic drives around the Cape of Good Hope and eleven

Directions from Cape Town International Airport
Travel on the N2 Highway towards Cape Town, take the turnoff to "Muizenberg, M3" to the left.
Continue along the M3 (Edinburgh Drive) past the suburbs of Claremont, Bishop's Court and
Wynberg. Take Exit 14 off the M3.
Turn left at the intersection, travelling under the bridge.
At the second set of traffic lights, turn right into Brommersvlei Road.
The entrance to the hotel will be on the left, 2.5 km down Brommersvlei Road.

GENERAL:
Consultation between the client, The Cellars Hohenort Food and Beverage Co - Ordinator, on site
inspections or meetings will only take place with an appointment. We reserve the right not to
disclose any information should the client arrive without an appointment.
The Cellars Hohenort Food and Beverage Co-Ordinator will only consult with one individual, on all
particulars pertaining to the specific function. The Cellars Hohenort or the Food and Beverage Co –
Ordinator will not be liable to any information given by second parties or any person, body or
organization other than the individual representing on the clients behalf.
In order to avoid confusion and ensure your day is a memorable experience for all involved Communication on the wedding day will be with an appointed, responsible person by the bridal
couple, such as a master of ceremonies, bridesmaid etc. This should be discussed in advance.
All booking confirmations need to be in writing. No verbal agreements will be binding
We reserve the right of admission at all times
A discretionary 10% service fee will be added to the food and beverage portion of the total bill.
The Cellars Hohenort Hotel takes no responsibility for outdoor events and the client remains
responsible for any extra costs or insurance involved should inclement weather affect the
arrangements for the function.
Any décor, gifting, flowers, candles etc. are for the client’s account who is also responsible for the
set up thereof.
The Cellars Hohenort Hotels furniture (An example, but not limited to: couches and heavy garden
furniture) cannot be moved around. Lighter furniture can be moved around, after prior discussion
with the function coordinator.
Children are most welcome to The Cellars Hohenort Hotel (The Greenhouse welcomes children over
the age of 8 years old) however adult supervision is of the upmost importance at all times with
responsibility for safety and well-being resting with the parents. There are water features and two
open swimming pools on the property and vigilance is required. The Cellars Hohenort Hotels
indemnity declaration also applies in this instance.
Kindly note that smoking is not permitted in any of the venues. There are demarcated outdoor areas
where smoking is allowed.
Lost/found items must be collected within 30 days, if not collected it will be sponsored to charity.
EQUIPMENT
Should the client source the equipment themselves it must be delivered 24hrs before the function at a
pre-arranged time with the Food and Beverage Co - Ordinator. Should equipment be delivered more
than 24hrs before the function a R1,500.00 holding fee will be charged and added to the final bill
unless permission is given by The Cellars – Hohenort Hotel.
SETTING UP AND DELIVERIES
No vehicles or heavy furniture are allowed on the lawns.
Should you be using any outside suppliers, they will need to arrange times to view or decorate the
venue with the Food and Beverage Co – Ordinator at least two weeks in advance of the function date.
The staff of The Cellars Hohenort Hotel cannot be held responsible or assist in handing out table
names, seating plans or table numbers. This has to be pre-arranged by the bridal party.
If the bridal party is using their own suppliers, The Cellars Hohenort Hotel cannot be held
responsible for any damages or changes made to any displays or decor.
The Cellars Hohenort Hotel reserves the right to move all chairs, tables and decor indoors on account
of bad weather or if the decor items limit the movement of waiters or certain areas, without
consulting the bridal party.
DÉCOR AND FLOWERS
Draping and Flowers for the function are not included in the venue hire. We can highly recommend
our preferred décor suppliers and would provide you with their contact details. All decorations to be
discussed with management to ensure no damage is done to the venue.
The Cellars Hohenort Hotels staff will not be able to assist with the placement of name tags on table
settings or small gifts or any napkin binding with ribbons etc. This must all be organized with the
decorator and florist. All décor plans to be discussed with the coordinator or manager in advance.
The Cellars Hohenort Hotel shall not be held responsible for hired in items that are damaged or lost.























All décor and flowers on tables will be removed by staff and must be collected no later than the
following Monday 10h00, unless by prior arrangement with management
HOURS
Morning functions must terminate by 12h00
All day functions must terminate by 17h00
Evening functions must terminate by 24h00
The above timing must be adhered to unless a later time is agreed in writing with The Cellars
Hohenort Hotel
MUSIC
None of the staff at The Cellars Hohenort Hotel can be held responsible or assist in any music or
entertainment via laptop or IPOD or assist in any DJ activities. The bridal party has to arrange with
third party for assistance.
The Cellars Hohenort Hotel Reserves the right to regulate the volume of all music at the event.
ACCOMMODATION
Accommodation for your guests is available as per our current rates. It is advisable to book well in
advance. A deposit of 50% will be required to confirm bookings and the full outstanding balance is
payable upon check-in. Check in time is 14h00 or by prior arrangement, subject to availability.
Regrettably we cannot make rooms available to wedding guests to get dressed, as the rooms are
serviced and ready for other guest check-ins
Normal check-in times are applicable to wedding guests who have booked accommodation.
However, we will make every effort to accommodate early check-in, subject to rooms being serviced
and departure times of previous guests checking out.
AFTER CARE
A baby-sitting service can be organized at R150.00 per hour per child for In House Guests.
The children will be cared for in one of our Luxury Rooms and there will be a hire fee of R 1,500.00.
Kindly note that this is subject to availability and would need to be arranged in advance.
UNAVAILABILITY OF VENUE
The Cellars Hohenort reserves the right to cancel a booking forthwith and without liability on its part
in the event of force majeure including but not limited to war, civil unrest, natural disasters, such as
earthquakes, floods or fires, and any similar event, that may lead to the facilities of The Cellars
Hohenort not being available for functions.
In such cases 50% the Venue Hire fee can be claimed back by the bridal party.
BAR
We are fully licensed. The bar closes at 24H00
Please indicate whether you prefer a cash service or an open-bar facility with a tab that will be
presented for payment at the end of the function. However, we reserve the right to claim a deposit
equal to the estimated bar tab prior to the function.
Please note that only beverages supplied by The Cellars Hohenort may be consumed on the
premises. In case of running a bar tab any outstanding amount must be settled on the evening of the
function.
Should we not have your preferred wine on our wine list our Restaurant Manager will gladly source
this for you – kindly note that the wine will be charged at The Cellars Hohenort’ s rates.
The Cellars Hohenort Hotel supports responsible drinking
DAMAGE TO PROPERTY
The client shall be responsible for any damage whatsoever caused to the buildings, furnishings,
improvements, utensils and any additional equipment belonging to The Cellars Hohenort Hotel
and/or any losses, damages caused by any act or omission by the client,
Any damage to property or breakages caused by the client’s guests, agent, employees (staff in
attendance) and service providers will be charged to the clients account.
The client will be responsible for safe keeping of, and damage caused to equipment hired by the
client from external service providers.
The Cellars Hohenort will not be held liable for any loss or damage resulting from the presence of
your guests, or their respective belongings on the premises of The Cellars Hohenort. The client/s
hereby indemnifies The Cellars Hohenort Hotel, and any of the aforementioned companies’
employees against all or any claims that might be brought against The Plettenberg PTY Ltd t/a The
Cellars Hohenort Hotel.


















Rates quoted are net and non-commissionable
Quoted in South African Rand (ZAR)
Subject to change without prior notice
Inclusive of 14% VAT
Weekdays and Friday weddings – 10% discount on Venue Hire
Winter weddings (June – August) – 10% discount on Venue Hire for Saturdays and 20% discount on
the venue hire for wedding on weekdays and Fridays.
A R 5000.00 venue Hire fee will be added to the current fee should the event be hosted on a Public
Holiday
CONFIRMATION:
We will hold your booking on a provisional basis for 30 days, until a signed copy of this agreement
is received along with the deposit (as outlined below). Provisional bookings will be released without
prior notification should you fail to confirm within this period.
A deposit of 50% of the venue hire is required to confirm the booking, together with the signed copy
of this contract.
The remaining Venue Hire and Menu cost must be paid at least three months prior to the date and the
balance 72 hours before the function.
Outstanding balances (if any) must be settled prior to departure. In the event of any guest not paying
for his / her private obligations before departure, the client agrees to make payment to The Cellars
Hohenort on their guest’s behalf.
The Cellars Hohenort Hotel will not be held responsible for any budgets that are exceeded.
CANCELLATIONS:
If the wedding is cancelled twelve (12) to six (6) months prior to the wedding, a 25% cancellation fee
of the total deposit will be charged.
If the wedding is cancelled six (6) to three (3) months prior to the wedding, a 50% cancellation fee of
the total deposit will be charged.
If the wedding is cancelled three (3) to one (1) month/s prior to the wedding, a 100% cancellation fee
of the total deposit account will be charged.
The deposit paid only guarantees availability for the date originally booked. It is NOT transferable to
another date.
Final number of guests must be confirmed in writing no less than fourteen (14) days prior to the
wedding date in order to facilitate catering arrangements. Photographer, Musician, etc. to be included
in the number of guests. Unfortunately The Cellars Hohenort Hotel cannot credit catering charges for
non-arrivals. The number of guests booked for will be charged for.
