Jūrmala is one of the most suitable places for
the children to relax and gain health starting even
from the baby age. Clean maritime air has a very
good influence on a child’s organism, lungs and

Ragakāpa Nature Park
Ragakāpa is an 800 m long and 100 m wide naturally born dune. There are
very old pine trees (approximately 340 years) found in the territory of a
park; it also is a home for five rare plant and four protected bird species. There is an
eco-trail that consists of 4 different trails – Nature landscape trail, Insect trail, Pine
trees trail and Plants trail with benches, informative signs and stands.

Melluži Park
Park of Melluži concert stage is a wonderful place for recreation with
children – it has modern playground, duck pond, and during summertime every
Sunday at 11.00 different creative free of charge workshops for the children are
organised here.

Multifunctional water park “Līvu Akvaparks”
Water amusement park “Līvu Akvaparks” is the biggest multifunctional
water park in Northern Europe with a total area of 17 000 sq. metres, including
6000 sq. metres of summer open-air area. This park is a good relaxation place for
people of different ages and is divided in 3 functional areas: active, family and SPA.
Here you will find 14 different levels complexity run offs and the only one in Europe,
the third biggest in the world Super bowl – Tornado Lāsēns. From the summer 2014,
“Līvu Akvaparks” will have also an open-air swimming pool with a counter current.

Majori Ice Hall
Dzintari Forest Park
The park is suitable for both active and peaceful recreation. There are children
playgrounds for all age groups, roads for roller skaters and pedestrians, skate
park, streetball playground, cafés, toilets and a parking lot in the park.
The park is open all year round and has a 33.5 m high panoramic tower with 12 balconies
on different height levels. During wintertime, it is possible to cross country ski in the park.

Ķemeri National Park
There are several nature trails in the park. The biggest are Big Ķemeri Bog trail
and Sloka Lake Nature trail with Sloka Lake sightseeing tower.
Ķemeri bog trail offers fabulous walk on wooden planks through an intact raised bog. Trail
will take you into the kingdom of moss, pine trees, pools and lakes. If you are attentive,
you will see insectivorous plant – sundew, as well as a variety of birds - bog sandpipers,
white wagtail, wood pipit, but perhaps you will hear a crane somewhere in a distance.
Lovers of shorter walks can go over the small circle of the trail, while others can explore
the big circle, and the biggest prize will be a sightseeing platform that offers a spectacular
view of the swamp landscape from the above.

Jūrmala Open Air Museum
Almost 2000 pieces of history tell about the work and life of fishermen in Jūrmala
from the 19th to 20th century. A collection of boats, anchors, wooden fishing motor
boat “Marts” and fishing boat “Undīne”, as well as biggest collection of ropes in
Latvia can also be found in the museum. In the territory of the museum, there is a
playground for children and in summer, different events take place here. Thematic
excursions with fish smoking, traditional songs etc. can be organised throughout all
year. In summer, every Thursday from 12.00 – 15.00 there is an opportunity to see
the process of smoking fish and try it afterwards.

Vitālija Jermolajeva mākslas studija “Inner Light”
Art gallery exposes interesting an original exhibition of works that are made in a
unique technique (fluorescent painting effect) – works start to glitter in a special
light, and a new picture is exposed to a viewer – a picture that was hidden under
the first work.
Studio offers art therapy and a studio of meditative painting where you can make
your own picture in the unique light painting technology.

Ice hall offers public skating times and rent of skates. Skating with sticks, as
well as playing hockey is possible in certain times. Skating rink is available from
November to May.

Tennis
There are many outdoor and indoor tennis courts in Jūrmala. All these courts offer
tennis lessons for adults and children, as well as rent of equipment. Tennis centre
“Lielupe” is the biggest tennis centre in Latvia with five closed and eight open courts
where also international competitions take place.

Here you can see permanent exhibition “History of Rīga’s Jūrmala and Ķemeri
resorts” with a special digital exposition and also an exhibition “Fashion in resort”
that shows examples of clothing from the end of the 19th century up to 70-ies
of the 20th century. Museum offers also art exhibitions. Cafe and a souvenir shop
are available.
On Mondays, Jūrmala City Museum offers different creative workshops, including
sand therapy to 5 – 12 years old children!

Pools, bathes, SPA and rehabilitation programmes for the children
Pools here are available with ordinary, sea and mineral waters. Taking into account
the fact that sea and mineral waters in the pool are used without added chlorine,
it is especially friendly for the skin of a baby and a child. In Jūrmala, you can try
traditional Russian bath, Finnish sauna, steam bath, different kinds of aromatic
bathes and a salt bath. This is the right place to feel the healing energy of special
bath rituals that cleanses skin, restores energy, as well as strengthens the immune
system. Even the youngest guests will learn to take care of their health as Jūrmala
offers special SPA and rehabilitation programmes that have been tailored to the
needs of babies, children and youth. The youngest visitors of SPA centres can visit
salt room, try massages, pearl bathes etc., but rehabilitation centres offer more
serious health programmes in case of different illnesses.
Reittherapy centres in Jaunķemeri and Vaivari offer not only horse riding, but also
unique methods of riding therapy called Reittherapy that is applied in cases of
rehabilitation of heavy illnesses.

The inhabitants and guests of Jūrmala have an opportunity to look at the
