JUNE BRILLY
June Brilly was born in 1956 in Illinois, United States of
America and settled in Ireland in 1975 living in
Prosperous, County Kildare. She has been working fulltime as a professional artist since 1982 and has a firmly
established reputation among the Irish racing and
hunting fraternity.
She specialises in painting animals, particularly horses,
and has been commissioned to paint many racehourses,
International showjumpers, and eventers, but prefers to
paint behind the scene studies rather than traditional
portraits indeed the whole spectrum of country life. She
has had numerous successful exhibitions in Ireland and
abroad and her most recent commission was four large works for the Four Seasons Hotel,
Dublin.

OPENING UP THE FIELD
GERARD BYRNE
Born in Dublin in 1958, Gerard Byrne took an early
interest in drawing and painting, without any formal
training, he never attended art college. Gerard
developed a style of painting all his own, tackling
virtually any subject with tenacity, producing pictures
of vitality with daring perspective, colour and
individuality. He paints outdoors on a surprisingly
large scale, and in bad weather concentrates in his
studio on still life and figurative subjects.
He has had solo exhibitions in Dublin, Berlin and New
York from 1989 to the present and works by him are in
numerous public and private collections in Ireland and abroad. He had a successful one
man show here earlier this year and was included in the 20 Hot up and coming Irish
Artists to watch out for in ‘A Buyers Guide to Irish Art’, (Ashville Media Group).

California. His work there has led to his nomination for
an Animation Academy Award or Annie Award for Art
Direction/ Production Design this year.
Carl has exhibited in several galleries throughout
Ireland and America. Exhibiting at the Royal Hibernian
Academy each year from 1989 to 1994 he received the

STREET MUSICIANS, GRAFTON STREET
SUZANNE VAN VLIET
Suzanne Van Vliet – Van Blom studied at the Royal
Academy of Arts in the Hague. She taught art at
highschools in the Netherlands and at the International
School in Jakarta where she lived for 5 years with her
family.
In 1997 she came to Ireland. Here she is inspired by the
Irish landscape with the countless ruins and stones from
early Christian, Celtic and pre-historic times. There is a
hidden mythology; people and landscape in a mystic
inter-action.
She paints according to the old Dutch oil painting techniques and has exhibited in
Amsterdam, the Hague, Gouda, Jakarta and recently in Dublin.
