Sensuous baroque pleasures!
“Continuo spirits (...) that make one beg to be haunted.”
CONCERTO MAGAZINE
There is barely a festival or concert series in Germany and throughout
Europe, where the United Continuo Ensemble (UCE) hasn’t appeared
since its foundation in 1995.
The viola da gamba player Jörg Meder has gathered together a team of
leading basso continuo specialists. In variable constellations, they convey
baroque jollity, their own fascination for improvisation, and pure pleasure.
The audience’s enthusiasm speaks for itself.
Creative, interactive programmes with singers, dancers and actors, and
even complete baroque operas, have long been the United Continuo
Ensemble’s recipe for success.

Concert with presenter ‐ The most popular arias from the collection „Musicalische
Rüstkammer“ & Stories from the baroque Leipzig opera house
The Opera House in Leipzig was one of the first in Germany. Unfortunately none
of the operas has survived, but the most popular arias by, for example, Telemann,
can be found in the manuscript “Musicalische Rüstkammer”. Tenor Jan Kobow
and the United Continuo Ensemble join Michael Maul to present these early operatic treasures in a captivating and enjoyable concert.

Flamenco is rooted in early baroque Spanish music. In the 17th century, people
danced to folk songs and sang dances with rhythmic accompaniments. This early
music for voice, guitar and percussion, imbued with its elegant ornamentations,
already contains those elements that we know and love as Flamenco today.

Boxberg’s opera in an historically informed production
With this production, one of the earliest German operas from 1698 by Christian L. Boxberg is rediscovered.
It tells the story of the Assyrian king Sardanapalus.
