THANKS TO ALL!
The memory of the Blizzard of 2010 and other snow events following
shortly after will be remembered by all for a long time. Many found
themselves unable to handle the vast amounts of snow
that fell (and fell and fell). We would like to thank all
the Good Samaritans who helped those in need of
assistance. There were many who helped, most
without being asked and who refused compensation.
You are wonderful people and, although you did not
seek appreciation and praise when you helped, THANK
YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
RESIDENTS DIRECTORY UPDATE
By now, all Brook Park residents should have received their annual
letter/dues invoices from the Civic Association. Included for
each address was a Residents Directory Update form
indicating the CURRENT directory listing. Please review this
information to make sure it is accurate. If you wish to make changes,
the DEADLINE is March 15, 2010. Updated directories will be
delivered to PAID MEMBERS OF THE CIVIC ASSOCIATION
ONLY once the project is complete. Changes can be e-mailed
to: [email protected] or forms may be delivered to 999
Broadmeadow Drive. If you did not receive a form for your address,
please contact Lisa Kocent @ [email protected] or 412-3677473.
REMINDER.....Just a reminder that this is the "OFF YEAR" for the
Garage Sale. Our next neighborhood Garage Sale will be held during
2011.

NEW BPMCA MEMBERSHIP COORDINATOR
Please welcome Jessica Deible as the Civic
Association's new Membership Coordinator. This is a
new position that was created by the Civic Board to
alleviate the duties of the Civic Board Treasurer.
Jessica will be collecting annual dues payments and
maintaining a data base of paid Civic Association
members. Please forward all dues payments and any
questions concerning your membership status to
Jessica. Thanks to Jessica for volunteering for this
position. Much appreciated by all!
EASTER EGG HUNT
Saturday, March 27, 2010, is the date set
for the Annual Easter Egg Hunt at Wall
Memorial Park on Sloop Road. The Hunt
starts at 11:00 am and will occur Rain,
Sun or Snow. Deadline to register for the
Egg Hunt is March 19. See the attached Sign-Up
Flyer for all the exciting details.
2nd ANNUAL “RACE FOR JOE”
The 2nd Annual "Race For Joe" will be held on
Saturday, April 3, 2010, at 9:00 am. The route will
remain the same as last year through Brook Park.
Race coordinators are looking for
volunteers
to handout
water,
direct runners and this year we would
like to see every street lined with
residents cheering on the runners for
this great charity. If you wish to volunteer, contact
Dan Lutz at: [email protected]. Sign up to
participate in the race will be circulated at a later
date. This race is held in honor and memory of Joe
Guzzetti of Field Club who was a graduate of North
Allegheny High School and captain of the NA
football team. On February 6, 2008, Joe died
suddenly of an epileptic seizure. He was 24 years
old. All proceeds will go towards college
scholarships for graduates of NA.

URGENT!!!! CIVIC ASSOCIATION
TREASURER NEEDED
WE NEED YOU NOW!!! Again, as of the writing of
this
article,
the
Civic
Association no longer has a
Treasurer. This is a very
serious and urgent issue.
Contact any Civic Board
Member now for additional information or to
volunteer (contact information included on the first
page of every newsletter).
CIVIC BOARD MEMBERS NEEDED
Not one person has stepped forward to even inquire
let alone volunteer to fill current and upcoming
vacancies on the Civic Board.
Astounding since the time requirement
is not large but the benefits are
many. If you are reading this
newsletter, thank a Board member.
When you don't have a newsletter to
read,
thank
yourself
for
not
volunteering. Ready to volunteer? Have questions?
Contact any Board member. Contact information
located on the first page of every newsletter.
CIVIC ASSOCIATION MEMBERSHIP DUES
Civic Association Membership Dues for 2010-2011
are now due in the amount of $30. Dues invoices
were mailed to all Brook Park residents in early
February. Many Brook Park events and groups are
only open to current, paid members of the Civic
Association. Members are also eligible to receive an
updated version of the Brook Park Residents
Directory later this spring. Dues provide for many
things seen and unseen and keep our neighborhood a
wonderful place to live and have fun.
Dues are $30/year. Checks are payable to: BPMCA
(Brook Park Manor Civic Association). Dues
payments should be forwarded to: Jessica Deible at
1607 Kind James Drive.
Didn't receive a dues invoice? Contact Lisa Kocent
@ [email protected].
FREE CAT TO GOOD HOME: 1 1/2
year old cat named "Sky", gray and white.
Fixed and has all shots. Good with kids.
Litter Box and Toys included. Contact
Sandy at: 412-366-0455.
DO NOT FORGET--"NIGHT AT THE RACES"
Ok... Have you had enough of this weather yet? Shall
we dare to wish for sunshine and the warmth of
Summer? Legend has it that if you support and attend
an event sponsored by a Summer organization (i.e.
Brook Park Swim Club's "Night at the Races"), the
Sun gods will smile down upon you and the summer
sun will arrive that much sooner.
Well, I am sure that none of you have
missed my corny attempts to get you to
join us for BPSC social events, but here I
go again. Attached to this newsletter is
the sign up form for the "Night at the
Races." This year promises to be
bigger and better than ever. We have
silent auction baskets that include Penguin tickets, spa
treatments and bunches of cool restaurant certificates
(and no, not just Sir Pizza certificates). The event
date is Friday, March 12, 2010, at the Camelot
Banquet Hall. Bring your family and friends and
enjoy the company of your "Summer" family. If you
have any questions, call or email me. Otherwise, I
hope to see you all there.
Yours in snowy misery,
Suzanne Bridges
METAL 1 POUND COFFEE CANS ARE
NEEDED BY McKNIGHT STUDENTS
Many 5th graders at McKnight have enjoyed Camp
Kon-o-Kwee over the years. One of the events they
enjoy is cooking their own breakfast on the bottom of
a metal 1 lb. coffee can. However, there has been a
decline in the number of metal coffee cans in the
stores, since many 1 lb. containers of coffee are now
plastic. Can you please help us to continue this
enjoyable tradition? Please buy and save metal cans.
Metal can donations may be placed at the
Caulkins' residence (1652 King James Drive). Many
thanks from the parents of future 5th graders!!
